Gesture recognition technology via millimeter wave radar is an efficient human-computer interaction (HCI) solution with a more significant environmental adaptive capability compared with optical sensors. Gesture segmentation is an essential step in gesture recognition process, and most of the previous work has focused on segmenting fixed-length discrete gestures, while less research has been done on segmentation algorithm for a continuous sequence of variable-length gestures. A gesture segmentation method for variable-length continuous gesture sequences based on micro-Doppler feature is proposed. Particularly, the Bidirectional One-Sided CFAR Algorithm (BOS-CFAR) which is derived from Constant False Alarm Rate Algorithm (CFAR) is skillfully designed to detect valid gesture frames. then the valid frames is set as growth points and clustering operation is implemented to obtain the approximate segmentation parts of each gesture. Finally, the gesture domain is fine-tuned according to the maximum and minimum micro-Doppler values of neighborhood to achieve the segmentation task of variable-length continuous gestures with over 96.6% recall and nearly 100% precision of six gestures. © 2022 IEEE.

Contribution: this Systematic Literature Review (SLR) aims to investigate how storytelling can effectively convey cybersecurity awareness for specific target groups in education, from different age groups. Background: Cybersecurity is increasingly pervasive, impacting nearly everyone globally. therefore, there’s a critical need for widespread education on the risks and consequences of daily technology use. Research Questions:RQ1:Are there any methods to approach the topic of cybersecurity without age constraints?RQ2:What type of technology used emerges from our review?RQ3:Which are the major outcomes of the proposed initiatives? Methodology: We use PRISMA guidelines [22] with n=53 papers published until December 2023 identified and n=18 final relevant papers. Findings: this review identified delivery methods [8], within the research field of technology-enhanced learning, that address, by the introduction of storytelling approach, the spread of cybersecurity education, leading to increased awareness and engagement on cybersecurity issues. It confirms that traditional forms of education focusing solely on knowledge transmission are not well suited for developing learning and understanding in a highly dynamic area such as cybersecurity. these delivery methods aim at developing cybersecurity awareness through the storytelling approach, expanding the notion of "being secure" to that of "acting securely". © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Contrary to celebrities who owe their popularity online to their activity offline, malicious users such as trolls have to gain fame on social media through the social media itself. the exact reasons that a certain user has become popular are often obscure especially when the popularity was gained illicitly through means such as fake amplification of content. In this paper, we develop a methodology for uncovering why an account has become popular and present an open source tool that encapsulates this methodology. this tool aims to aid others in uncovering malicious accounts which have artificially gained many followers and to distinguish such accounts from those which gained followers and popularity honestly. © 2022 IEEE.

Graph neural networks (GNNs) have been widely used for recommender systems over knowledge graphs. An important issue of GNN-based recommender systems is individual user fairness in recommendations (i.e., similar users should be treated similarly by the systems). In this paper, we make the following contributions to enable recommender systems to be equipped with individual user fairness. First, we define new similarity metrics for individual fairness, where these metrics take knowledge graphs into consideration by incorporating both first-order proximity in direct user-item interactions and second-order proximity in knowledge graphs. Second, we design a novel graph neural network (GNN) named SKIPHop for fair recommendations over knowledge graphs. By passing latent representations from both first-order and second-order neighbors at every message passing step, SKIPHop learns user embed dings that capture their latent interests present in the second-order networks. Furthermore, to realize individual user fairness, we add fairness as a regularization to the loss function of recommendation models. Finally, through experiments on two real-world datasets, we demonstrate the effectiveness of SKIPHop in terms of fairness and recommendation accuracy. © 2022 IEEE.

Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) is considered as a promising technology for next-generation 6G wireless system by controlling the propagation environment that degrades the quality of received signals in wireless communication. In contrast to the conventional RIS architecture in which an impedance of each RIS element is grounded, the general architecture having an impedance network connected to each other element can more flexibly control the signal. the computational complexity by optimization of the scattering matrix of the general RIS architecture increases according to the size of the channel matrix. therefore, as the number of users increases, high computational complexity is paid for optimizing the scattering matrix. this paper proposes the effective scattering matrix design for RIS based on group connected impedance network in multi-user multiple-input multiple-output(MU-MIMO) wireless communication systems. By limiting the number of supported users per group to one, it is possible to effectively reduce computational complexity and ensure appropriate performance compared to the optimization of the scattering matrix that maximizes the channel gain of all users. © 2023 IEEE.

the 5G wireless standard has emerged as a trans-formative technology with the potential to revolutionize various industries by providing enhanced connectivity and communication capabilities. this advanced standard offers a diverse range of applications, including Ultra-Reliable Low-Latency communication (URLLC), Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB), and Massive Machine Type communication (mMTC). In this scientific research paper, we present a comprehensive analysis of the performance and capabilities of a deployed indoor 5G network in a controlled laboratory environment. the experimental setup comprises an Amarisoft Callbox, serving as the 5G core, along with a Remote Radio Head (RRH) and user equipment (UEs). Our primary objective is to assess the network's performance by evaluating the downlink, uplink, and joint downlink/uplink transmissions for TCP and UDP protocols between the gNodeB and user equipment (UE). To achieve this, we carefully examine key performance metrics such as latency, power consumption, CPU utilization, and signal quality. through various configurations that involve MIMO 2 technology and a 30 kHz sub-carrier spacing, we investigate the impact of different NR Bandwidth settings. By establishing TCP and UDP connections for both uplink and downlink scenarios, we meticulously measure and scrutinize the system's performance, thereby providing valuable insights into its efficiency and suitability for diverse application requirements. © 2024 the Authors. the World Health Organization (WHO) strategy for Ending Preventable Maternal Mortality (EPMM) accommodates guidelines and objectives to lower the level of the global Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR). Regular antenatal care (ANC) visits could increase maternal satisfaction, hence activities in ANC include risk identification, prevention, and management of pregnancy-related diseases, which could lead to maternal death. the health recommender system in healthcare helps patients and health professionals perform early predictions and receive meaningful recommendations based on patients' up-to-date health records. However, implementations of this application in maternal care are still few. therefore, we conducted a semi-structured interview to five physicians working in maternal care to explore the challenge. the interview data were afterwards analyzed using qualitative content analysis. this qualitative study has identified six major challenges related to technological issues, such as the ability to display critical information, simplicity, compatibility, correctness, consistency, and fulfillment of functionalities required to adhere to maternal care guidelines, as well as challenges related to regulations and policies. this study contributes knowledge about the implementation of health recommender systems for maternal care and provides recommendations to application vendors and health regulators for the implementation of this system in Indonesia. © 2022 IEEE.

this study reports the suitability of several algorithms to identify the best course in a network of lines that is utilized to guide an Unmanned Arial Vehicle (UAV) aircraft in a safety configuration. It utilizes a waypoint graph using Jaya algorithm for this purpose, which is based on the GPS coordinates of flight route movement locations in three dimensions. It performs a comparative analysis of the drone path prediction using a dynamic adjacency matrix that represents the shortest path in the graph. In the context of the area observation mode, evaluate the benefits and drawbacks of the two routing methods. © 2025 IEEE.

this paper evaluates the multiple-input multiple-output underlay cognitive multihop relay networks with short-packet communications, where general and practical scenarios are considered with multiple primary users and imperfect channel state information of the interference channels. For performance evaluation, the closed-form expressions of the end-to-end (E2E) block error rate for the considered systems are derived under consideration of quasi-static Rayleigh fading channels and the finite-blocklength (FBL) regime, from which the E2E throughput, energy efficiency (EE), latency, and reliability are also studied. Based on the analytical results, we adopt a machine learning-aided estimator, i.e., extreme gradient boosting (XGB), to predict the E2E throughput, EE, latency, and reliability for real-time configurations. the XGB-based evaluation achieves equivalent performance while significantly reducing the execution time compared to conventional analytical and simulation methods, which makes XGB an efficient tool to estimate the system performance in real-time applications. © 2023 IEEE.

communication-based devices are extensively used in the power grid, and studying the power and communication systems as a cyber-physical system before their deployment is essential. Co-simulation can be used for studying power system stability, cyberattack detection and mitigation strategies, and controller performance. In co-simulation, both the power and communication layers are simulated simultaneously. Previous work has developed co-simulation platforms;however, it does not provide a comprehensive comparison of different co-simulation platforms. Furthermore, the slow simulation speed of co-simulation in some of the proposed platforms reduces the scalability capability dramatically. In this paper, five cyber-physical co-simulation platforms are implemented using PSCAD v5, and their merits and demerits are comprehensively evaluated. © 2023 IEEE.
