Mathematical models are used to study and predict the behavior of a variety of complex systems - engineering, physical, economic, social, environmental. Sensitivity studies are nowadays applied to some of the most complicated mathematical models from various intensively developing areas of applications. Sensitivity analysis is a modern promising technique for studying large-scale systems such as ecological systems. the uncertainty in the model input in our case, as in many others, can be due to various reasons: inaccurate measurements or calculation, approximation, data compression, etc. Two kinds of sensitivity analysis have been discussed in the literature: local and global. In the current paper the subject of our study is the global sensitivity analysis performed via the Sobol’ variance-based approach, applied to a specific large-scale air pollution model. the mathematical treatment of the problem of providing global sensitivity analysis consists in evaluating total sensitivity indices which leads to computing multidimensional integrals. We propose a new specific stochastic approach which significantly improves the results by the standard stochastic approaches. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Most modern systems require some form precise time and frequency synchronization, and the demand for more precise solutions is further increasing. Smart manufacturing will likely incorporate wireless sensor networks in the future to serve various purposes, such as sensing, localization, and communication. Managing a variety of tasks within such a network necessitates synchronization to enhance efficiency. Additionally, runtime-based localization schemes, such as Time Difference of Arrival (TDoA), rely heavily on precise time synchronization for their accuracy. this paper proposes an extension of a synchronization scheme using so-called Signals of Opportunity (SoO). Currently, a significant amount of data must be exchanged between the base stations in a network to achieve precise synchronization. For reducing the required data rates, our proposed system utilizes only the outer frequencies of the SoO for synchronization. We demonstrate that using only parts of the bandwidth still results in precise estimates for time and frequency errors. Additionally, we present measurement results for the proposed scheme and confirm that the synchronization precision remains high, despite the omission of large portions of the SoO.

the rapid growth of wireless devices as societies adapt to the Internet of Everything (IoE) has led to saturation of spectrum resources. Dynamic spectrum access has been considered a promising solution to alleviate congested channels by allowing unlicensed users to access licensed channels when the licensed users are idle. Various coexistence challenges arise as unlicensed users compete over a limited amount of channel resources. In this article, we build on a previously defined bio-social inspired dynamic spectrum access coexistence scheme where unlicensed users achieve fair sharing of resources by choosing to defer to nodes with more urgent transmission needs. To prevent selfish nodes from taking advantage of the deference mechanism, we propose a decentralized rogue node detection behavioral model. While foraging for resources, each node performs rogue node detection using hardware fingerprinting. We show that we can achieve 99% rogue node detection accuracy with fast detection convergence time and low communication/coordination overhead.

In this paper, we investigate the issue of joint design of communication and computation for multiple time-sensitive computation-intensive user equipments (UEs) with different types of tasks in 6G wireless networks. In particular, we consider a practical mobile edge computing (MEC) network with both communication and computation uncertainties, where channel state information (CSI) is partially obtained by the base station (BS) and the task complexity is inaccurately estimated by the MEC server. To solve these problems and enhance the overall performance, we propose a delay-optimal robust edge computing algorithm for 6G wireless networks with the goal of minimizing the maximum system delay among all UEs by jointly optimizing transmit power at the UEs, receive beamforming at the BS and computing resources at the MEC server. Finally, simulation results confirm the robustness and the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm over baseline ones.

this paper presents a 90-96 GHz GaAs transceiver chip with printed on-board low-loss microstrip line to waveguide transition. By introducing power enhancing technique in the design of the double-balanced passive tripler of the LO multiplier chain, the impedance matching of the tripler is improved. Benefiting from the introduced high-pass matching network in the LO chain, the out-of-band unwanted harmonics suppression are improved to be over 70 dBc within the entire bandwidth, which makes the system have better spectral purity to support high-order modulation. the transmitter chip achieves a measured maximum output power of 18 dBm at 90 GHz and delivers a Psat of 17.4 to 18 dBm from 90 to 96 GHz. the receiver chip achieves a noise figure better than 5.1 dB. In the system wireless data transmission measurement, the transmitter and receiver chips are connected to horn antennas through the designed low-loss microstrip line to waveguide transition structure. the measured TX-to-RX EVM in 400 MHz 64QAM 5G NR signal is 4.86% at a 1 m distance. Compared to other state-of-arts that support high order modulation and to the best of the authors' knowledge, the transmitter's output power is the highest in the 94 GHz band.

Besides the high reliability and low latency, the deterministic services in the 5G-Adv/6G systems also require the low jitter. the integration of 5G with TSN has been standardized in 3GPP Release16, and enhanced in Release17 in order to support the deterministic communication. However, the 5G-TSN system is still in infancy, and has not been widely deployed. In this paper, we propose a novel deterministic communication technique in the 5G-Adv/6G radio access networks in order to eliminate the jitter. At first, the granularity and reference start time of the data forwarding time are determined by the gNB and informed to UE. then, the data forwarding time is derived considering the scheduling information and processing capability, then delivered to UE in case of downlink transmission. At the receiver side, the received data should be forwarded from MAC layer to the higher layer at the determined data forwarding time. In this scheme, the jitter caused by the differences of gNB processing delay, UE processing delay, and intra-slot TTI alignment delay can be eliminated with a slight increasing of transmission latency. the performance evaluation by using the results from the 5G networks in our lab also verifies our conclusion.

the importance of data security and data analysis strategies for Big Data has recently altered as a result of an enormous amount of data and its continual expansion. An intrusion detection system (IDS) is a device that keeps track of and examines data in order to find intrusions in networks and other systems. the data analysis process is exceedingly complex and requires a huge volume, variety, and speed of data to detect assaults using traditional methods. In order to achieve the goal of effective system protection, intrusion redirection technology has been used to identify potentially harmful access for traceless forwarding and forward it to a honeypot (HP) scheme. From a unique standpoint, HP method is a form of active defensive system that uses enticement to lure invaders so that more data may be collected. In the Apache Flink environment, this article describes a novel intrusion detection method called Big Data Enabled Intrusion Detection with Honeypot Intelligence System (BDE-IDHIS). the BDE-IDHIS technique seeks to first detect the presence of intrusions thereafter diverting traffic to the HP system for effective security of the actual system. Moreover, the MQTT Honeypot with Decision Engine and Redirection Engine is used in the BDE-IDHIS method. In addition, Apache Flink is utilized in this study to manage huge data settings. A number of experiments are used to test the experimental result analysis of the BDE-IDHIS technique, and the results are then examined from a variety of angles. the experimental outcomes stated the better performance of the BDE-IDHIS technique over other existing techniques.

this study developed an improved lighting system called i-Light that incorporates three major factors in the growth of broilers which include color, photoperiod, and light intensity. Arduino Mega microcontroller was used to control the overall system. this system was compared to the existing traditional lighting system (TL) and LED lighting system (LL) in terms of broiler growth mortality rate and power usage. the results showed that the i-Light system performed better than both TL and LL systems. In terms of growth, the i-Light system demonstrates its ability to outperform TL and LL as seen by the fact that the i-Light system's weight gain on the final week of experimentation is 55.45% heavier than TL and 36.36% heavier than LL. It was also shown that the system logs the lowest mortality rate compared to the TL and LL system which records a 30% mortality rate which is more ideal than the 50% shown on TL and 40% for LL. the power usage results show that the i-Light used the least electricity. the i-Light system is 75.44% more efficient than the TL which saves up to 95.914 PHP monthly. On the other hand, i-Light is 63.12% more efficient than LL which saves up to 53.42 PHP per month. the i-Light system developed in the study can be a viable option for poultry farmers.

the widespread adoption of specialty smart ecosystems has changed the everyday lives of users. As a part of smart ecosystems, Enterprise Internet of things (E-IoT) allows users to integrate and control more complex installations in comparison to off-the-shelf IoT systems. With E-IoT, users have a complete control of audio, video, scheduled events, lightning fixtures, shades, door access, and relays via available user interfaces. As such, these systems see widespread use in government or smart private offices, schools, smart buildings, professional conference rooms, hotels, smart homes, yachts, and similar professional settings. However, even with their widespread use, the security of many E-IoT systems has not been researched in the literature. Further, many E-IoT systems utilize proprietary communication protocols that rely mostly on security through obscurity, which has perhaps led many users to mistakenly assume that these systems are secure. To address this open research problem and determine if E-IoT systems are vulnerable, we focus on one of the core E-IoT components, E-IoT communication buses. communication buses are used by E-IoT proprietary protocols to connect multiple E-IoT devices (e.g., keypads and touchscreens) and trigger pre-configured events upon user actions. In this study, we introduce LightningStrike, the implementation of four proof-of-concept attacks that demonstrate several weaknesses in E-IoT proprietary communication protocols through communication buses. With LightningStrike, we show that it is feasible for an attacker to compromise E-IoT systems using E-IoT communication buses. We demonstrate that popular E-IoT proprietary communication protocols are susceptible to Denial-of-Service, eavesdropping, impersonation, and replay attacks.
