In mechanical product collaborative design to solve the problem of conflict detection, classification and resolution, in which a method of detecting conflict based on constraint satisfaction techniques were studied, Constraint network was established and interval propagation algorithms was proposed to solve constraint satisfaction problems. the storage and representation of design constraints and interval propagation process were discussed in detail in the collaborative design process. Based on theoretical study, a Constraint — Based Conflict Detection prototype combined with examples of excavator product design was developed.

Model transformation plays an important role in current MDD (Model Driven Development). Combined with direct model manipulation, relational algebra and template theory, this paper presents a formalizing hybrid model transformation for the design in universal collaborative system. Furthermore, it implements an extendible prototype system based on MDA paradigm called CSCWMDA. CSCWMDA specifies a model driven process that takes UML models and generates collaborative system code by hybrid model transformation. Finally, a case study of Cooperative Authoring System illustrates our approach demonstrating the hybrid MDE process. this approach removes the heterogeneity of model transformation to some extent, and at the same time it is simple and well regulated.

Heterogeneous CAD data exchange is very important in collaborative product development and also extremely difficult. Feature-based data exchange has many advantages than traditional geometry-based data exchange. According to the framework of procedure recovery in feature-based data exchange, this paper discusses the key issues of feature extraction and reconstruction, including the extraction of first-order feature information, extraction of second-order feature information and the reconstruction of feature model. the proposed methods have been tested in experiments. the result shows that propsed approach has efficiently improved the former researches, such as ISO/STEP method, Macro command method and UPR method.

For communication of design plans, city councils and other local governments require that 3D models are developed quickly, at minimum expense, and they can be made available online. Users, generally citizens, increasingly expect that the models are a photorealistic and truthful representation of the future situation. Despite the advancements in graphics in recent years, the budget, the platform available, and the requirements of use are restraining factors for the visual quality of a 3D model. the question of the validity of models for assessment of urban development plans is therefore increasingly relevant. In this empirical field study we compared the affective qualities of a 3D model designed for online assessment and communication of urban development, withthose of the urban environment in reality. the model was considered more pleasant, more modern and more uniform than the area in reality. this can be explained by specific characteristics of this type of model, such as the lively colours and the clean surfaces.

the software industry has recognized the importance of teamwork as a driver for good projects results. However teamwork is not an easy goal to reach, because there is a large list of variables affecting the process. Each project probably will require a particular recipe to promote and perform real teamwork. therefore a one-size fits-all approach does not work to promote teamwork in the software development scenarios. this article presents an influence model that helps the development teams to find a strategy that allow them to carry out teamwork. this model is the result of an analysis conducted by the authors on 27 software projects performed in a controlled setting in an academic environment.

A context-sensitive groupware uses information about a group and its participants' context in order to provide useful information and services to improve group work. A relevant issue when designing Context-Sensitive Systems (CSS) is how to represent contextual information and the system's behavior. this paper presents a Context Metamodel and shows preliminary experiments in two context-sensitive groupware performed to illustrate its usage and potential in designing CSS. the metamodel offers integrated support for modeling structural and behavioral aspects involved in context management and usage.
