Collaborative mobile computing is today one of the most popular paradigms of computing because of its impact on the performance and expansion of distributed systems and therefore on the development of internet of things. Due to the rapid progress in technologies of communication and smart mobile devices with the growing trend towards its use, many architectures of mobile collaborative computing have emerged to improve and organize the expand of internet of things, such as Cloud, Cloudlet, Fog, Edge, Mobile Edge, Mobile Cloudlet computing, etc. In this paper, we first review their current layered architectural models and discuss their limits and challenges. then, we will present a new architectural model: Collaborative Autonomous Networks of Mobile Devices Using Peer-to-Peer Communication that can be applied in many areas. Finally, a scenario of an emergency situation is presented to illustrate and highlight its requirements, such as supporting connectivity and engineering of data and services. Use cases in the internet of things (IoT) and in mobile clouds often require the interaction of one or more mobile devices with their infrastructure to provide users with services. Ideally, this interaction is based on a reliable connection between the communicating devices, which is often not the case. Since most use cases do not adequately address this issue, service quality is often compromised. Aimed to address this issue, this paper proposes a novel approach to forecast the connectivity and bandwidth of mobile devices by applying machine learning to the context data recorded by the various sensors of the mobile device. this concept, designed as a microservice, has been implemented in the mobile middleware CloudAware, a system software infrastructure for mobile cloud computing that integrates easily with mobile operating systems, such as Android. We evaluate our approach with real sensor data and show how to enable mobile devices in the IoT to make assumptions about their future connectivity, allowing for intelligent and distributed decision making on the mobile edge of the network. In the distributed internet of things (IoT) architecture, sensors collect data from vehicles, home appliances and office equipment and other environments. Various objects contain the sensor which process data, cooperate and exchange information with other embedded devices and end users in a distributed network. It is important to provide end-to-end communication security and an authentication system to guarantee the security and reliability of the data in such a distributed system. Two-factor authentication is a solution to improve the security level of password-based authentication processes and immunized the system against many attacks. At the same time, the computational and storage overhead of an authentication method also needs to be considered in IoT scenarios. For this reason, many cryptographic schemes are designed especially for the IoT;however, we observe a lack of laboratory hardware test beds and modules, and universal authentication hardware modules. this paper proposes a design and analysis for a hardware module in the IoT which allows the use of two-factor authentication based on smart cards, while taking into consideration the limited processing power and energy reserves of nodes, as well as designing the system with scalability in mind.

the exponential grow of internet of things applications leads to proposing fog computing structure that is geospatially distributed and latency sensitive. Since asynchronous dissemination of information is the main issue for typical distributed applications, publish-subscribe system is introduced as a key technology to provide asynchronous communications for distributed systems. In publish-subscribe systems, broker acts as a middleware in between subscribers and publishers and all communications are done through the brokers. However, serious security issues have been raised with such new architecture. In this paper, we propose a secure privacy-preserving mutual authentication scheme for fog-based publish-subscribe system using elliptic curve cryptography. the proposed scheme can provide mutual authentication between subscribers and brokers and between publishers and brokers. Moreover, the proposed scheme can preserve users' privacy due to the difficulty of relating the requested topic for subscription and/or publication to their anonymous identities. In addition, the proposed scheme can resist against the curiosity of users and/or brokers. the analysis of security services that are achieved by the proposed scheme is provided.

the distributed Mobility Management protocol (DMM) was defined by the internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) for providing the alternative IP mobility management method. DMM has the characteristic of efficient network deployment capable and efficiency to fit user's demands. In the wireless network, it is possible that a lot of mobile nodes (MNs) may switch from the same previous network to the same new network, i.e., handover, around the same time. However, the currently proposed DMM-based control schemes mainly focus on the handover processing of one MN instead of several MNs. It causes the problem that many duplicate signaling messages are used during handover. In this paper, a Group-based handover control scheme using the partially distributed Mobility Management (GP-DMM) protocol is proposed to resolve the aforementioned problem. In the proposed GP-DMM scheme, multiple MNs, which move from the same previous network to the same destination around the same time, are formed as one group. In this way, only a set of control messages for handover is used instead of n sets of signaling messages for these n MNs. As a result, when the number of MNs increases, the amount of handover overhead, the handover delay and the packet loss are reduced.

Cloud computing has become a business reality that impacts technology users globally. It has become a cornerstone for emerging technologies and an enabler of the future internet services. this has been coupled with emerging trend of adopting software-based network infrastructure. Paradigms such as Software-defined networks (SDNs) have gained more attention for large scale networks due to the flexibility and agility they offer to the network. Parallel to this emergence, the power consumption has rapidly increased. Hence, developing green and sustainable solutions has become a prime concern for the cloud providers. In this paper, a novel power aware algorithim titled "Green distributed Cloud Services Provisioning" to provision the tenants' cloud services requests on an SDN-enabled cloud environment is presented. the role of the cloud and SDN controllers within the considered environment is illustrated to better highlight the interactions with the underlaying infrastructure. Furthermore, a brief review of well known cloud simulators is given. the conducted simulations show that the proposed algorithm significantly reduces the power consumption while maintaining high admission rates when compared to other work from the literature. Moreover, the average number of hops needed for a tenant to reach its requested VM was shown to remain stable with the increase in network load.

the paradigms of Fog and Edge computing along with internet of things (IoT) promise to make everything, especially smart devices, as part of the internet environment, where highly-centralized computing infrastructures are gradually decentralized into micro data centers deployed at the edges of each network. As a result, access latency has been reduced dramatically because of the decreases in geographical distance. So far, a great deal of research effort has been focused on how to satisfy the ever-increasing demand for Fog and Edge computing resources. Correspondingly, the traditional centralized power supply system need to be decentralized among other computing and communications resources. However, how to design, operate, and manage a fully distributed power supply system to support the same service agreement level as in cloud computing under fog and edge computing largely remains unknown. In this article, we propose and develop a new power supply system for Fog and Edge computing based on our previous work on digital energy systems. Experimental results based on a real-world case study of the proposed system are presented to validate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed power supply system.

To enhance the programmability and flexibility of network and service management, the Software-Defined Networking (SDN) paradigm is gaining growing attention by academia and industry. Motivated by its success in wired networks, researchers have recently started to embrace SDN towards developing next generation wireless networks such as Software-Defined internet of Vehicles (SD-IoV). As the SD-IoV evolves, new security threats would emerge and demand attention. And since the core of the SD-IoV would be the control plane, it is highly vulnerable to distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) Attacks. In this work, we investigate the impact of DDoS attacks on the controllers in a SD-IoV environment. through experimental evaluations, we highlight the drastic effects DDoS attacks could have on a SD-IoV in terms of throughput and controller load. Our results could be a starting point to motivate further research in the area of SD-IoV security and would give deeper insights into the problems of DDoS attacks on SD-IoV.

Header compression is the key to adapting long header protocols like IPv6 for transmission using short frame size network protocols such as are used in Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWANs). In LPWANs only one or two octets may be available to transmit upper layer protocol headers, which makes known header compression mechanisms unsuitable. Static Context Header Compression (SCHC) has recently been proposed to address the LPWANs limitations. SCHC works under the assumption that LPWANs are preprogrammed with known data flows, thus uses a static context. However, this assumption is not always valid in an internet of things (IoT) context, where devices should be accessible from any IPv6 address. therefore, in this paper we propose a dummy mapping technique that can effectively compress/decompress some header fields of unknown flows. the dummy mapping creates a fixed size list of dummy values that are dynamically mapped at the gateway compressor to the values of headers fields. the mappings stay alive to compress/decompress these fields until their flow ends, and then the same dummy values can be remapped to different header fields of different flows. the Dummy mapping exploits the SCHC framework and does not require resynchronization to meet the limitations of LPWANs. Here, we explore the impact of the dummy mapping size, the request arrival rate and the LPWAN link layer parameters on the compression efficiency.
