In data grid, co-allocation architecture can be used to enable parallel transferring of data file from multiple replicas which stored in the different grid sites. Some schemes base on co-allocation model were proposed and used to exploit the different transfer rates among various client-server network links and to adapt dynamic rate fluctuations by dividing data into fragment. these schemes showed the more fragments used the more performance conducted when data transfer in parallel with evidence. In our previous work, we propose a scheme named anticipative recursively-adjusting mechanism (ARAM) in previous research work. the best thing is performance tuning through the alpha value, it¿s rely on special feature to adapt different network situations in a data grid environment. In this paper, the TCP bandwidth estimation model (TCPBEM) is used to evaluate dynamic link state by detect TCP throughput and packet lost rate between grid nodes. We integrate the model into ARAM, called anticipative recursively-adjusting mechanism plus (ARAM+), that can be more reliable and reasonable then previous one. In the meanwhile, we also design a burst mode which could increase transfer rate of ARAM+. this approach not only adapts worst network link but also speedup the overall performance.

Recent advances in the Internet enabling technologies and wide deployment of broadband optical and wireless networks in both the core and access areas have led to rapid growth of real-time multimedia communications and collaborative computing applications over the Internet anytime and anywhere. the mobile multimedia collaboration enabled applications include networked healthcare, distributed data right management for digital content distribution, telematics, and 3G/4G/wireline network convergence. these mobile multimedia collaborative networking and computing applications are recently made possible due to widely deployed broadband Internet (e.g. IP-over-SONET) and last-mile broadband technologies (e.g., ADSL/DSL and cable modem), the maturity of a widely accepted application layer signaling protocol (session initiation protocol (SIP)), and availability of high-power and smart mobile devices. these mobile multimedia collaboration enabled applications share a common core application requirement set, referred to as "5R" requirements, i.e., "right data sent to right person at right time in right form at right cost". this 5R requirement set basically covers technical challenges of security, QoS, privacy protection, performance, mobility and costs from layer 1 to layer 7. In this talk, we first discuss the concept of mobile multimedia collaboration and its enabled applications as described above. We then use distributed data right management (DRM) for secure digital content distribution as an example to illustrate 5R requirements. We conclude the talk by identifying challenges of meeting the 5R requirements as well as reviewing the progress of 5R implementation under mobile broadband Internet networking infrastructure.

Growing demand for data and increasing number of devices are drastically changing the scale of operation in mobile networks. Future services and business models require efficient provisioning with enhanced traffic management. It is hard to meet these requirements on today's mobile networks that are deployed over specialized hardware. While operators are keen to adopt NFV (Network Function Virtualization) to virtualize their networks, virtualized mobile network deployments face a few technical barriers. To address these challenges, we design SCOPE that effectively applies concepts from SDN and distributed systems to realize NFV-based LTE core networks. Using centralized allocation, SCOPE effectively manages the resources across multiple telecom data-centers in a way to meet the traffic requirements. To enforce the computed allocations, SCOPE includes flexible and efficient mechanisms to configure the data-plane. With full compliance to 3GPP- based protocols, SCOPE ensures faster and cost-effective deployments. the efficacy of SCOPE is shown using a prototype implementation and large-scale simulations.

Mobile offloading overcomes the resource limitations of offloader devices by splitting resource-intensive tasks and allocating subtasks to nearby offloadee devices. In processing its subtask, each offloadee effectively executes foreign and untrusted code which might both harm the device and exhaust its resources. Given the personal nature and constrained resources of offloadee devices, such as smartphones, precise control at the offloadee over the execution environment of offloaded tasks as well as the provided and consumed resources then is a natural requirement for the success of offloading approaches. We thus contribute a mechanism for fine-grained resource control of local task execution, benefitting allocation approaches by precisely assessing, advertising, and guaranteeing offloadee processing resources. Our design protects local device integrity and usability by isolating the execution of each task in a dedicated Linux container with precisely defined resource constraints. We highlight the performance and immediate applicability of our design through a prototypical implementation using LXC containers on COTS Android smartphones that achieves controllable task execution at minimal costs: Each container starts up in only 2 ms, imposes less than 5 % computation overhead, and consumes only 10MB of memory.

Internet of things (IoT) is widely recognized as a key enabling driver in environmental monitoring systems, thanks to its inherent capabilities to provide sensing and actuation functionalities on a distributed basis. At the same time, the majority of IoT applications are Information Centric by design: they target specific actions that are not related to any network node but can be provided by multiple resources within the system. In this perspective, the Information-Centric networking (ICN) paradigm, formulated to answer to Future Internet requirements, can natively and seamlessly support IoT technologies as a service bus. Moving to IoT-enabled environmental monitoring systems, the publish-subscribe data exchange model is the pivotal functionality that ICN architectures have to support. In fact, an environmental monitoring system can be easily set up by letting one or more collecting stations to subscribe to the events or sensed values, generated (i.e., published) by IoT nodes scattered in the scenario of interest. Unfortunately, the support for publish-subscribe functionalities is not uniform across the main ICN architectures designed so far. To shed some light on this issue, the present contribution analyzes to what extent ICN architectures are able to support publish-subscribe and highlights the missing building blocks to purse this objective.

Information-Centric networking (ICN) is an emerging network paradigm based on name-identified data objects and in-network caching. therefore, ICN contents are distributed in a scalable and cost-efficient manner. With the rapid growth of IoT traffic, ICN is intended to be a suitable architecture to support IoT networks. In fact, ICN provides unique persistent naming, in-network caching and multicast communications which reduce the data producer load and the response latency. Using ICN in an IoT environment requires a study of caching policies in terms of cache placement strategies and cache replacement policies. To this end, we address, in this paper, caching challenges with the aim to identify which caching policies are suitable for IoT networks. Simulation findings show that the combination of the consumer-cache caching strategy and the RR cache replacement policy is the most convenient in IoT environments in terms of hop reduction ratio, server hit reduction and response latency.

Summary form only given. As data scientists, we live in interesting times. Data has been the No. 1 fast growing phenomenon on the Internet for the last decade. Big data analytics have the potential to reveal deep insights hidden by big data that exceeds the processing capacity of existing systems, such as peer influence among customers, revealed by analyzing shoppers' transactions, social and geographical data. In the past 40 years, data was primarily used to record and report business activities and scientific events, and in the next 40 years data will be used also to derive new insights, to influence business decisions and to accelerate scientific discovery. the key challenge is to provide the right platforms and tools to make reasoning of big data easy and simple. In this keynote talk, I will explore reuse opportunities and challenges from multiple dimensions towards delivering big data analytics as a service. I will illustrate by example the importance and challenges of utilizing programmable algorithm abstractions for many seemingly domain-dependent data analytics tasks. Another reuse opportunity is to exploit unconventional data structures and big data processing constructs to simplify and speed up the big data processing.

Despite significant advancements in wireless sensor networks (WSNs), energy conservation remains one of the most important research challenges. Proper organization of nodes (clustering) is one of the major techniques to expand the lifespan of the whole network through aggregating data at the cluster head. the cluster head is the backbone of the entire cluster. that means if a cluster head fails to accomplish its function, the received and collected data by cluster head can be lost. Moreover, the energy consumption following direct communications from sources to base stations will be increased. In this paper, we propose a type-2 fuzzy based self-configurable cluster head selection (SCCH) approach to not only consider the selection criterion of the cluster head but also present the cluster backup approach. thus, in case of cluster failure, the system still works in an efficient way. the novelty of this protocol is the ability of handling communication uncertainty, which is an inherent operational aspect of sensor networks. the experiment results indicate SCCH performs better than other recently developed methods.

Fog computing was developed to expand cloud computing’s computation, storage, and networking capabilities to the network’s edge, therefore reducing latency and improving the quality of service. In fact, it produces a little cloud at the network’s edge by utilizing a huge number of community and geo-distributed network equipments called as fog nodes (FN), such as routers, switches, and access points. Fog computing raises concerns about offloading tasks for remote processing, such as the loss of a node in a computer network, whether due to unforeseeable causes such as system failure, breakdowns, or scheduled outages such as vacations taken by the fog node. these concerns can result in reduced computer network performance in a fog environment or loss of redundancy. this work provides an analytical model based on queening theory for investigating the quality of service in a fog computing network where the fog nodes could break down or go on vacation. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

During the last decade, overlay networks based on distributed hash tables have become the de facto standard for data management in Peer-to-Peer (P2P) systems, with Chord being its most prominent representative. Essentially, with its fully decentralized approach, Chord avoids any bottleneck and single point of failure while guaranteeing data to be retrieved in O(log N) hops in a network consisting of N nodes. By optimizing the number of hops for data access, Chord implicitly assumes that all connections between nodes have comparable bandwidth and latency characteristics. However, in heterogeneous, mobile P2P systems that consist of both mobile and fixed nodes, this is not the case. Moreover, due to the mobility of nodes, connection parameters can dynamically change. Especially in mobile P2P applications where low latency for data access is essential, such as in emergency management, routing should aim at reducing the overall latency, rather than the number of hops in the network. In this paper, we present COMPASS, a protocol for efficient data access in heterogeneous mobile Chord-based P2P systems. COMPASS takes into account that the network latency of nodes in a mobile P2P network may significantly differ and thus aims at minimizing the overall latency, even if this necessitates more hops in the network. this is done by probing the network and by maintaining, in addition to Chord's finger table, at each peer a data structure called COMPASS table. We present in detail the initialization and maintenance of the COMPASS table that dynamically adapts to changing node characteristics. Evaluation results show that COMPASS outperforms standard Chord-based routing and reduces the overall latency in heterogeneous P2P networks consisting of fixed and mobile nodes.
