Various fields of science require solving complex computational problems using resources of high-performance computing (HPC), high -throughput computing (HTC) or distributed computing Infrastructures (DCIs). Service oriented infrastructures based on Cloud paradigm simplify utilization of scalable on -demand unified sets of commonly used services. Virtualization and Cloud technologies based on Open Source solutions help to provide to researchers various variants of access to on -demand scalable resources from Private, Hybrid, Scientific, Scientific Federated or commercial Clouds. In the paper described the milestones and perspectives of deployment at the small joint IMI-RENAM cluster Open Source based Centre of Excellence with flexible internal reconfiguration and cost-effective access to unified sets of services.

In recent years the area of High Performance computing (HPC) has received an outstanding support both from the users as well as the computer system designers. this support is mainly due to the increase of the complexity and density of the data processing of some of the advanced research areas. these areas include but not limited to, the climate modeling, weather forecasting, and performance measurement and improving precision of the nuclear weapon systems as well as space programs. this rise in complexity would impose additional pressure on the clients to demand for further improvements on system features such as speed, reliability, performance, fault tolerance, compatibility, size and cost. this is one of the determining factors that encourages our researchers to model new architectures in the areas of HPC in order to satisfy the clients' scientific and engineering requirements. With this motivation in mind the author has introduced a new architecture which is coined as Master -Slave Multi-Super Hypercube DX-Tree architecture ((M S)(2) HDX - T). For this architecture the total system cost through mathematical modeling and simulation is compared with similar parameters in the existing HPC systems. the result highlights the advantages or otherwise of the proposed architecture from scientific research and/or commercial point of view.

Several wild animal species are endangered by poaching. As a solution, deploying wireless sensors on animals able to send regular messages and also alert messages has been envisaged recently by several authorities and foundations. In that context, this paper proposes Wi1dMAC, a multichannel, multihop wireless communication protocol for these specific wireless sensor networks that have to collect data from unknown large areas with different QoS requirements. Wi1dMAC is a TDMA based MAC protocol that leverages long range communication properties to propose an efficient data collection mean. Its performance evaluation shows it meets QoS requirements.

Many Advisor Systems have been designed and developed to assist us in decision-making, each with their strengths and weaknesses. A popular type of Advisor systems is Travel Advisor systems that assist travelers in their travel arrangements. We have designed and implemented a Travel Advisor system to assist travelers, evaluating a number of factors after analyzing the features of other Travel Advisor systems. these factors are travelers' budgets, distance, their friends' interests, individual and group interests, dislikes, transportation mode and travel histories. We demonstrate the validity of the solution using case studies and usability testing results. In this study, our major goal is to measure the system's usability both with participants who previously travelled to the location and with participants who have never been there to investigate if familiarity correlates with positive rating of the system features. Our findings state that familiarity with the location correlates with positive rating of system's features. © 2013 IEEE.

the increasing utilization of cloud services by mobile apps on smartphones leads to serious privacy concerns. While users can quantify the cloud usage of their apps, they often cannot relate to involved privacy risks. In this paper, we apply comparison-based privacy, a behavioral nudge, to the cloud usage of mobile apps. this enables users to compare their personal app-induced cloud exposure to that of their peers to discover potential privacy risks from deviation from normal usage behavior. Since cloud usage statistics are sensitive, we protect them with k-anonymity and differential privacy.

the widespread diffusion of low-cost computing devices, such as Arduino boards and Raspberry Pi, along with improvements of Cloud computing platforms, are paving the way towards a whole new set of opportunities for Internet of things (loT) applications and services. Varying degrees of intelligence are often required for supporting adaptation and self-management-yet, they should be provided in a light-weight, easy to use and customise, highly-interoperable way. Accordingly, in this paper we explore the idea of Logic Programming as a Service (LPaaS) as a novel and promising re-interpretation of distributed logic programming in the loT era. After introducing the reference context and motivating scenarios of LPaaS as a key enabling technology for intelligent loT, we define the LPaaS general system architecture. then, we present a prototype implementation built on top of the tuProlog system, which provides the required interoperability and customisation. We showcase the LPaaS potential through a case study designed as a simplification of the motivating scenarios.

Cloud computing is currently spreading with the further implementation of IT infrastructure. Clouds involve certain negative factors, however, which must be addressed to promote further cloud utilization. As a means of addressing some of these negative factors, a hybrid cloud configuration combining public and private clouds has attracted attention. this configuration stores personal and confidential information in a private cloud and other data in a public cloud. Unfortunately, no detailed classification of where various kinds of data should be stored has yet been fully established. Hence, this paper proposes an enterprise data management method for a hybrid cloud configuration. Specifically, enterprise data was subdivided into 28 categories through a work breakdown structure (WBS) method. then, the subdivided data was classified in terms of whether it did or did not consist of personal or confidential information. the resulting data portfolio required storing only about 18% of data in a private cloud, with the remaining 82% in a public cloud. In accordance with this basic guideline, a fundamental data management proposal is developed for the hybrid cloud configuration.

In this paper, we address the problem of joint resource and power allocation in underlay device-to-device multi cast communication for short (D2MD) to maximize system global energy efficiency (GEE). For this, we propose a two-stage semi distributed solution. First, we model the resource sharing subproblem as a transferable overlapping coalition formation game. Here, a D2MD group can participate in s coalitions and it can decide to join or leave a coalition based on specific split and merge rules. Similarly, a resource block can be shared among r D2MD groups where s, r are reuse and split factors. After that, the transmission power is centrally controlled by the the base station (BS) via a fractional programming framework. Finally, GEE is analysed via extensive numerical simulations with a spatial Poisson process for the users' locations and applying two different clustering algorithms: K-nearest neighbour, and distance-limited.
