In systems engineering and model-based design, the complexity and interrelationships across different system elements always demand continuous elaboration and expansion in various overlapping domains. We examine how such a phenomenon can be assisted with generative AI and benefit from large language models (LLMs), such as GPT-4. We demonstrate ways of incorporating generated text and outputs from LLMs into the modeling process. the approach can customize the GPT-4 model with an activity metamodel specified in Eclipse Ecore or predefined activity diagrams encoded in a textual format for learning from instances. Alternatively, the descriptive text from the LLM can be provided as input to a parser, resulting in an activity that can be readily transformed into a discrete event system specification (DEVS) model with simulation capability. We will discuss how the process can be enhanced in a simulation environment, thus offering the opportunity to examine a variety of scenarios and arguments for incorporating generative AI or general AI as a collaborative agent in the domain of interest. One scenario could begin with a simplified text describing a generic process, yielding an approximate representation as a starting point for further elaboration by modelers to a complex specification through a systematic, guided, and well-defined framework. We demonstrate the approach with activity and flow-based diagrams in a manner applicable to SysML, UML, and systems engineering at large. © ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering 2024.

Memory imprints of the significance of relationships evolve over time. this evolution is driven by these imprints, gaining strength during interactions between the people involved, and weakening between such events. Despite the importance of understanding this evolution, few research papers explore how long-term interactions in social networks correlate with the memory imprints of relationship importance. In this paper, we represent memory dynamics by adapting a well-known cognitive science model. Using two unique longitudinal datasets, we fit the model's parameters to maximize agreement of the memory imprints of relationship strengths of a node predicted from call detail records with the ground-truth list of relationships of this node ordered by their strength. We find that this model, trained on one population, predicts not only on this population but also on a different one, suggesting the universality of memory imprints of social interactions among unrelated individuals. this paper lays the foundation for studying the modeling of social interactions as memory imprints, and its potential use as an unobtrusive tool to early detection of individuals with memory malfunctions.

Whatever the context, modeling is defined as the first step in a decision support project (Kowalsky, (2006)). More precisely modelling in hospitals, born from the needs arising from the increasing complexity of hospital services, is a discipline that aims to be able to model hospital systems taking into account the many factors entering the online accounts for their actual behaviors simulation. It is also of interest when used to model random patient flows. the work presented in this article addresses the problem of minimizing the time cycle of a patient's journey through the maternity ward of Farhat Hached Sousse Hospital with the aim of improving the perfection of this service. More precisely, we take the case of the outpatient consultations of this service. Indeed, the evaluation of the performance of a real system consists of a modeling step, to move from the system to the model in order to better identify the problems encountered and a step of analyzing the performance of the model thus obtained. For modelling, we opted for a modelling of the care process by adopting Bonita 6.5.2 software and for performance analysis;we chose simulation to test the scenarios resulting from the change of some parameters, using Bonita simulation 6.5.2 software. the results obtained indicate that patients spend a significant amount of time waiting for an appointment and for registration. We have thus brought ideas to help those in charge of the Maternity Department of the Farhat Hached Sousse hospital to determine and rank in an order of importance the improvement actions that allow the minimization of the duration of the cycle of care. © 2022 CURRAN-conference. this paper collects the positions of four experts who participated in a panel on simulation-based policy support. the experts are well known for their contributions in this domain, predominantly for their use of agent-based approaches. the first section addresses the increasing requirements to integrate social modeling to support the evaluation of the socio-economic impact of policies, including questions of equity. Artificial societies are presented as enablers. the second section observes that the purpose of a simulation model is very much linked to its usefulness for supporting policy decisions. this implies requirements for learning agents and better representation of time and space. the third section focuses on the need to give agents more active behavior, to let them drive the action. While digital twin technology promises to help, the current state of the art seems insufficient. the section closes by looking at trust in simulation models, which will be needed for policy support.

We present a novel approach, which supports efficient visualization and set-theoretic difference operations for accurate geometric modelling in real-time simulations. the geometric operands can be in any representation as long as they are watertight and are convertible to an oriented point cloud. A novel region growing based fitting routine converts the oriented point clouds into a watertight piecewise quadratic implicit representation. During set-theoretic modeling these implicit representations are mapped to the fixed depth hierarchical grid of the resulting geometric model. thereby a surface elimination algorithm removes parts not contributing to the final surface. this guarantees that the number of already performed modeling operations have only a minor performance impact on the algorithms processing the model. For visualization a novel ray casting based approach was developed, enabling interactive frame rates at Full-HD screen resolutions. the evaluation of the developed method proves its modeling performance and high geometric accuracy by means of the simulation of subtractive manufacturing examples.

Time-lapse seismic monitoring is an effective and proven technology for determining the distribution of CO2 in a subsurface reservoir. When injected CO2 displaces other reservoir fluids, the seismic impedance changes, causing time-lapse seismic amplitude differences in the injection zones. the analysis and interpretation of images created from these amplitude differences can provide information about reservoir architecture and the CO2 migration within the reservoir. Incorporating seismic inversion and rock physics into the interpretation of time-lapse seismic data can considerably improve the modeling and monitoring to detect and assess the location of CO2 over time. the joint inversion method presented in this paper is based on innovative approaches. the method has an integral representation of the geology in the inversion algorithm using elastic facies, which provides information about the spatial distribution of the geologic heterogeneities controlling the spreading of fluids in the reservoir. the method was successfully applied to time-lapse seismic data from a mature oil field undergoing CO2 enhanced oil recovery. the estimated seismic acoustic impedances and facies reflect the characteristics of individual geologic facies and fluid conditions of the reservoir subject to CO2 injection. the probabilities estimated by the joint impedance and facies inversion for the reservoir's litho-fluid facies can be used for forecasting CO2 saturation and pressure changes within the target reservoir. © 2021 15th Greenhouse Gas Control Technologies conference 2021, GHGT 2021. this paper is focused on creating a realistic model of water surface using height field technique based on fractal noise, which allows to create a realistic representation of water surface with little use of computing power. the paper also contains the description of water surface optics, ray tracing and the comparison of GPU- and CPU-based rendering of a scene created in Blender 2.8 based on the difference between the durations of the rendering, which is important in development of 3D and VR technologies, where efficiency of hardware components plays a key role. this research was carried out as a part of Computer Graphics course.

A modern car contains about 30 magnetic sensors on average. their performances depend on the readout circuit imperfections, the magnetic environment, and mechanical assembly tolerances. For angle sensors, this yields a complex physics with magnet tilt and off-axis rotation. Traditionally these effects are studied separately in finite-element-method (FEM) simulators, separated from traditional system and circuit design simulation tools. this creates a simulation gap. A new modeling method for physical modeling of magnetic position sensors is presented. the method is based on spherical harmonic decomposition, and is implemented in Matlab. In this representation, any rigid-body 3-D motion of the magnet and sensor is modeled by matrix operations. Critical physical effects for the sensor accuracy can then be explored directly in system simulation tools such as Matlab, Simulink, Python or even in an integrated circuit simulator. the method maintains FEM accuracy. It represents a paradigm shift in magnetic position sensor design, and brings FEM accuracy to a much wider range of users.

A hybrid methodology that combines qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques is discussed in the context of Cyber-enabled Influence Operations (CIOs). Beginning with primary inputs from detailed qualitative analyses of political, economic, social, technological, and legal ground realities, our Game-Transformation-based Framework uses 2 × 2 games - with ordinal rankings of preferences as payoffs - to attain a macro-level perspective. Using the periodic table of 2 × 2 games, we show how payoff swaps, which represent shifts in ground realities, can change the nature of the game and therefore the resulting equilibrium. Our framework’s exploration of various permutations, that hypothetical changes in input might lead to, can be used by analysts and policymakers to reverse-engineer favorable scenarios. the framework is useful for scenario planning as it allows for both detailed micro-level analyses and strategic macro-level analyses. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

While the complexity of modern RF systems on chip grows significantly, the methods for functional verification can not hold pace. Powerful tools, that are available for the verification of purely digital systems are missing for analog/mixed-signal systems. this paper proposes a method to improve the capabilities of a high level programming language to verify an AMS system design covering RF performance issues. this is done in Cadence using SystemVerilog HDL and a direct programming interface to C++. As an example, a signal representation and signal processing in the spectral domain to handle the issues of nonlinear frequency conversion is presented.
