the removal of chromaticity in high precision astrometric measurements is a very important challenge because chromaticity can represent a relevant source of systematic error;we perform this task using a feed forward neural network and focus on the usefulness of a proper preprocessing applied to the network parameters. We use a few statistical moments properly selected with a careful preprocessing and filtering to face the necessity of a good choice of the input parameters that encode images;they are then used as inputs to a feed forward neural network trained by backpropagation to remove chromaticity. We show that a preprocessing devoted to analyze the input-output dependences allows to obtain the same diagnosis performance using as inputs to the neural network less parameters with respect to the diagnosis performed without preprocessing.

Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) effects on flow of blood have been studied through an irregular stenosis. the flow is characterized by micropolar fluid model. this model takes into account blood rheology, in which blood consists of microelements suspended in plasma. the governing equations involving unsteady nonlinear partial differential equations are solved by employing finite difference scheme to obtain the velocity profiles and the flow characteristics. It is observed that MHD decreases the velocity and the flow rate but increases the wall shear stress.

the nonlinear boundary control problem of the Generalized Korteweg-de Vrie-Burgers (GKdVB) equation: u(t) = Vu(xx) - mu u(xxx) - u(alpha)u(x), x epsilon [0, 1], t > 0 is considered. Different control laws were derived for different values of alpha (i.e., when alpha is an even positive integer, and when alpha is an odd positive integer) to show that the dynamics of the GKdVB equation is globally exponentially stable in L-2(0, 1). A simulation module was developed based on SolidWorks solid modeller to predict the instantaneous geometric grinding parameters of form grinding processes. the module was compatible with a simulation package for Continuous Dress Creep-feed Form Grinding (CDCFG), which can simulate the physical grinding parameters such as grinding power and forces with given geometric grinding parameters. this paper presents the general methodology, implementation, and technical highlights of the simulation module. In this paper, we propose a model for microscopic traffic simulation, which uses recurrent fuzzy systems. Its rule base reflects the recurrent decisions of the vehicle drivers. In contrast to cellular automata models, which also work rule based, our proposed model processes vague or "fuzzy" data and utilizes full intervals for the state values, e.g. for the velocities. We show that the recurrent fuzzy system is capable of modeling traffic flow that exhibits realistic macroscopic behavior and where the vehicle velocities are no longer confined to a small set of discrete values on the microscopic level.

this paper presents a simulation-based decision support system (DSS) for the application of concurrent engineering (CE) to the design and layout of port infrastructures and of the corresponding logistic network. the focus of this development is on design for safety aimed at establishing the location of such infrastructures, the allocation and the management of resources that minimizes the environmental impact of accidental occurrences capable of affecting the coastal ecosystem. Specifically the tool was developed and customized for the analysis of both fixed infrastructures and logistic resources with respect to their effectiveness in the management of chemical spill emergencies. the tool evaluates and compares alternative logistic configurations and resources allocation strategies in terms of pollution containment for a given geographic location. the paper outlines an example application to oil-spill emergency management and the results of extensive sensitivity testing for the relevant influencing factors.

An attempt was made to simulate conserving conventional fuel in different lifestyle by solar domestic hot water system (SDWH) with a heat exchanger, in which the urban water with pressure flows directly went through the copper coil to exchange withthe hot water. For a given energy demand pattern, energy can be saved by replacing with a solar hot water system for domestic applications, including cooking and washing. Based on the existing experimental data and climate condition, the quantity of energy conservation can be calculated by simulation to thermal efficiency. And the results can be summarized that SDHW withthe heat exchanger was very energy-saving and clean for residential use.
