India is highly heterogeneous in the way cities are laid out;the way people use landmarks and how certain cultural aspects affect wayfinding. these factors influence the design of maps and navigation systems. Users from Mumbai and Rajasthan were interviewed to explore such implications and find design opportunities. these users had low education levels and needed to find addresses on a regular basis. the study was centered on the indian context. People in India rarely use maps for navigation. they rely primarily on asking around and navigate using landmarks. the landmarks people use during this are prominent but sometimes highly volatile and ad hoc like cows and people sitting on street corners. Some of these landmarks may not necessarily always be popular. While inquiring about the route, people repeatedly seek reliable sources en route, to validate the information they have. Other findings during the study include people's preferences in using maps and concerns while seeking directions. Mental models of people also affect the way people navigate and exchange the wayfinding information. Some of these are very specific to the indian context. In the end, we also discuss how these findings will affect the design of navigation and (culture-centric) wayfinding systems.

Medication adherence includes the concept of patient choice, taking medication as well as compliance with follow up appointments and maintaining the suggested lifestyle modifications from a provider [1]. In this paper, I propose a system design for the indian Healthcare System, augmented with EPIONE a mobile application that makes personalized healthcare possible and accessible to all. I inform this designthrough a research study on the current indian healthcare system focusing on the complex interplay among three players in the ecosystem that are patient, physician and pharmacist and how this interplay informs and affects medication adherence among patients. As a result of the study, I identified gaps in the current system that impede patient's adherence to their medication routine. I have attempted to address the same through my proposed design intervention. Identifying these issues is a step towards embracing a personalized health culture for the future India.

the paper presents a research on how to apply design Based Learning in STEAM curriculum at primary schools, with a particular focus on exploring the design factors of teaching aids that may support children's learning. Building on insights from literature regarding the role of teaching aids in design practices, several design factors have been identified and guidelines for teaching aids design have been developed too. In the end, we design some teaching aids based on these guidelines in order to test its validity. the result show that the teaching aids with certain design factors could support children's design practices in learning.

the study explores the problem of mobile phone addiction in sleep scenarios and analyzes the possibility of designing interventions to address the problem of mobile phone addiction. Literature research, case studies, questionnaire research and mass media research are used to explore how to mitigate the negative effects of mobile phone addiction on sleep from a design perspective. Based on relevant research in the field of behavioral interventions, a strategy for applying active intervention operationalization to design interventions for mobile phone addiction in sleep scenarios is proposed. Based on this strategy, a night light is designed to stop users' excessive use of mobile phones in sleep scenes. In conclusion, this study has a certain reference value and guidance for future design in this field.

the design of product labels is of high importance for it ensures that the label communicates the necessary information accurately and efficiently to the consumers. this project follows the design development of one such label used primarily for anti-counterfeiting. In this project, usability studies and 5- Seconds Tests(5STs) are designed and conducted to understand how consumers would verify such a label and also to gauge the usability of the label's information. through the tests, we understand consumer behavior and their perceptions of the label. thus, aiding to identify factors such as the label's prominence, placement of the text and clarity of the label's purpose that affects the degree to which a consumer engages with it. Ultimately, design recommendations are made to assist in overcoming the identified bottlenecks. Moreover, the project highlights the importance of user research and how comprehending consumers can guide designers to build information formats with a prominent outcome.

the recording and sharing of family stories remains an important part of what it means to be a "family". While there is prior research into supporting storytelling for families living apart, there remains a gap in understanding and supporting family storytelling for migrant workers. To address this gap, we explored how technologies could be designed for domestic helpers. Nine domestic helpers were recruited and divided into three design teams. the participatory design sessions and cultural probe findings led to the design of Kwento, a prototype mobile application that uses prompts to encourage helpers to reflect upon their personal experiences.

the phenomenon of entrainment in conversation is the process where participants become more similar to each other in terms of different verbal and non-verbal aspects such as acoustic-prosodic, lexical, syntactic, pitch, and speech rate. this process of becoming similar to each other is the key to effective human-human conversation. To replicate the effectiveness observed in human-human conversation, it is equally critical to explore the occurrence of entrainment within human-machine conversation. this review article examines the various non-verbal and verbal aspects that machines are able to adapt for improved entrainment in human-machine conversation. Initially, we categorize the specific verbal and non-verbal behaviors of human users that machines are capable of adapting. Subsequently, we analyze the likely challenges that have prevented the speech technology sector from enabling smooth, natural interactions between humans and machines. these obstacles have hindered the industry's ability to leverage the phenomenon of entrainment for more fluid and intuitive human-machine conversation. Finally, we advocate for a mechanomorphic design strategy in human-machine conversation, outlining the rationale for its potential efficacy.
