Voice user interfaces (VUIs) have become quite popular in the current indian technological landscape. However, their emergence is recent in the indian demographic. Emotion plays a significant role in the user experience of any interface. this work aims to study the indian users' emotional response to sound stimuli used in Voice User Interfaces (VUIs). We conducted an online study using the PsychoPy (1) platform with 68 participants over three phases. the target population is 18-26 years old and resides in Delhi, India. the research led us to standardize the modulation of speech stimuli to exhibit different emotional states. the findings show voice pitch, intonation, and speech rate as significant in guiding the emotional content of speech stimuli. this work is the first to study the emotional content of VUI speech stimuli in an indian demographic.

Highly intelligent teleoperated robots are playing an increasingly important role in high-risk tasks. this paper proposed a teleoperation vision enhancement method in mixed reality scenarios, aiming at the problems of poor interactive telepresence at the control terminal of the teleoperation system and the difficulty for the operator to obtain real experience. By building the video stream transmission based on this method, the researchers realized the real-time presentation of the remote scene. this research carried out the interface visualization of the mixed reality visual enhancement interactive system by analyzing the target requirements in the teleoperation interaction task and improved the interactive control strategy in the mixed reality scene. this teleoperation interactive system effectively solves the problem of synchronous reproduction of remote operation scenes, improves operators' interaction efficiency and accuracy, and verifies the advantages and application prospects of mixed reality display technology.

the success of a human-machine interface (HMI) heavily depends on its usability. An highly usable interface allows the user to more easily achieve his/her goals and in general have a better User eXperience (UX). In work environments, a structured and ready-to-use usability testing protocol can encourage companies to carry out this type of study and focus on UX from the early design phases. Even though numerous methods to test usability exist, industrial companies still have great difficulties to apply them and choose the best ones for the specific purposes. they should be guided into the analysis by a universal step-by-step approach, which helps also not experienced designers selecting the most reliable and useful methods among the available ones. In this direction, the paper proposes a structured protocol to focus on UX and guide companies in testing setup, execution and debriefing in an easy and quick way. Checklists are defined to help during user testing and assure its success. As a consequence, end users can be easily involved to give an added value in design problems identification. the novelty of this paper is the definition of a ready-to-use study protocol that can also be used by non-usability experts, in order to make them familiar with UX analysis and extend this practice also in industrial HMI design. As validation, the proposed protocol was applied to the design of interfaces for agricultural tractors during two different stages of the HMI redesign process.

CheckMate, a social media platform, enables users to complete their bucket lists efficiently and effectively organise them with editorials, peer learnings, and validations. By adopting a user-centred design process, we explored how CheckMate would enable people to interact, collaborate and achieve goals and desires with people sharing the same interests. It aims at organising the user's bucket list with active tracking of one's achievements, gamified elements for added incentives, and intelligent suggestions based on one's interests and past accomplishments to create memories and human-humaninteractionthrough collaboration. CheckMate's goal is to facilitate support and motivation by providing a platform to interact with people with similar interests and gain insights from one another. this paper will discuss user research and design processes and their importance in our application development.

this tutorial is an introduction to the concepts and techniques from human-computerinteraction, focused on designing usable interfaces. Topics covered include user and task analysis, prototyping, design techniques, interface evaluation, and various processes for designing interfaces. While the overall content mirrors general user interface design courses, a section will focus specifically on challenges in designing intelligent systems (including adaptive systems, recommender systems, agent-based interfaces, etc.), including an exploration of the metaphors and paradigms of interaction with intelligent systems. the tutorial is intended for those who do not have an HCI background (it would be redundant with a typical undergraduate course on the topic), and it is focused on practical techniques that could be applied when designing recommender systems for end users.
