Error-related potentials (ErrPs) are electrical signals of brain activity elicited by the perception of errors. they have been studied to understand the error processing function of humans and decoded to be used to detect erroneous output in brain-computer interface (BCI) systems. this study investigated the influence of task difficulty on ErrPs elicited by user-initiated outcome errors in an interactive game. the time-domain analysis showed the result that the highest peak of hard-level ErrPs had a longer latency than that of easy-level ErrPs. the time-frequency analysis showed that the power of a (8-13Hz) bands increases at about 200-600ms and the power of 1-5Hz increases starting at about 50ms for easy-level ErrPs, while the power of 13 (14-30Hz) bands increases at about 100-1000ms and the power of 1-5Hz increases start at about 300ms for hard-level ErrPs. the results provided preliminary evidence that the error processing takes more time for a task with higher difficulty levels, and the difference in spectral power distribution implies the differences in cognitive processes. the study helped explore the modulation mechanism of ErrPs and provided reference factors for the selection of ErrPs decoding algorithm in BCI systems to improve its efficiency and user experience.

Withthe rapid development of modern society, traditional handicrafts are gradually replaced by new products of technology. Withthe rise of the national trend, it has become an important cultural proposition to recreate the culture of lacquer art through the art of momentum. the paper fan, which can be seen everywhere in life, is often used as one of the design vehicles for cultural and creative products, which can be both communicative and practical. As a new expression of the lacquer language, the lacquer bleaching technique integrates traditional lacquer techniques while retaining the creativity of modern lacquer art. this study uses literature analysis and questionnaire survey as the main research methods. First, we collate the development value of lacquer art through literature collection, and integrate the fan and lacquer art into a symbiosis. We hope that the development of cultural and creative industries will also allow traditional lacquer art to be passed on in a new way.

A method for analysing emotion and motivation for design of affective user interfaces is described. theories from psychology of emotion and motivation are applied in user-centred design to analyse desired influences on users, and plan appropriate UI features, based on a scenario-based approach that analyses affective situations. the method informs design of multimedia and agent-based user interfaces for persuasive technology applications and domains where the user interface may have emotive effects. Use of method is illustrated with a case study in health informatics for a persuasive technology application.

Flexible devices open opportunities to explore new shapes and interactions for future digital devices. In this paper, we introduce a novel concept of Mobius shaped flexible handheld device. the Mobius shape is proposed due to (a) its ability to double the display view with smaller device structure and (b) propose natural input interactions. We also present input interactions using the free form structure of Mobius shape for commonly performed digital tasks such as scrolling, multi-tasking, multiple selection, writing and an expanded view. Further, we present how Mobius can be converted into a wearable device and a triangular device that supports the user in different usage contexts. Finally, we conclude the paper by providing our views on the contribution of this paper and why such work in important in expanding the horizon of mobile interaction and HCI research on flexible displays.

this project is an attempt to investigate the efficacy of a Robotic Arm as a paradigm-changing teaching aid in a graphomotorics therapy environment. the project investigates if a collaboration between human teacher and a robotic arm can significantly improve the quality of a teaching session. A series of experiments tested two modes of robotic arm movements: "human-like" and "Robotic" with two different robots. the experiments featured exercises that improve graphomotorics contributing abilities such as fine motoric skills, serial and spatial memory. these exercises, based predominantly on pointing and gesturing by a teacher, were conducted by a robotic arm, and included feedback on successful completion of the task. Results of preliminary experiments showed that in addition to positive interaction between the student and the robot, the basic relationship between student and teacher was also impacted by shifting the balance of power. Further research is required to conclude the optimal human-robot involvement. [GRAPHICS] .

this paper uses kiteboarding as an experimental platform to find ways in which technologies could support communication needs in mentally and physically demanding contexts. A kite control bar with embedded sensors and actuators communicates instructions through voice or tactile cues to explore facilitating communication for control guidance. Tactile cues were shown to be productive in changing behavior. Voice, however, communicated planning models and directional guidance better than tactile cues. Still, voice may negatively impact experience. the experiments highlight the need for better ways for communication tools to support mental models.
