In disaster scenarios, effective communication is crucial, yet language barriers often hinder timely and accurate information dissemination, exacerbating vulnerabilities and complicating response efforts. this paper presents a novel, multilingual, voice-based social network specifically designed to address these challenges. the proposed system integrates advanced artificial intelligence (AI) with blockchain technology to enable secure, asynchronous voice communication across multiple languages. the application operates independently of external servers, ensuring reliability even in compromised environments by functioning offline through local networks. Key features include AI-driven real-time translation of voice messages, ensuring seamless cross-linguistic communication, and blockchain-enabled storage for secure, immutable records of all interactions, safeguarding message integrity. Designed for cross-platform use, the system offers consistent performance across devices, from mobile phones to desktops, making it highly adaptable in diverse disaster situations. Evaluation metrics demonstrate high accuracy in speech recognition and translation, low latency, and user satisfaction, validating the system’s effectiveness in enhancing communication during crises. this solution represents a significant advancement in disaster communication, bridging language gaps to support more inclusive and efficient emergency response.

Long-term exposure to ionizing radiation can lead to the development of cancer and other potentially fatal diseases. Estimating radiation levels at high-energy particle accelerators is crucial for ensuring the safety of personnel, the public, and the environment. this paper explores the application of transformer neural networks, focusing on five different attention mechanisms—Full Attention, Prob Attention, AutoCorrelation, Fourier Attention, and Wavelet Attention—for estimating radiation levels at the thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab). the goal is to improve the accuracy of radiation estimation by training models using data from key radiation sensors. Four hundred trials were conducted for each attention mechanism, and performance was evaluated using metrics including R 2 . the results demonstrated that Prob Attention and AutoCorrelation outperformed the other mechanisms, offering substantial improvements over previous models. these findings highlight the importance of selecting and fine-tuning attention mechanisms in transformers for complex time-series analysis tasks in radiation monitoring.

Agriculture has been an active source of food and economic growth, but it faces significant challenges from diseases and climate change. In Indonesia, sugarcane production is severely impacted by viral infections such as Sugarcane mosaic virus (SCMV) and Sugarcane streak mosaic virus (SCSMV). these infectious diseases pose a threat to the world’s sugarcane industry, resulting in significant crop losses in nations like Brazil and India, along with other viruses like the Fiji Disease Virus (FDV), and Sugarcane Yellow Leaf Virus (SCYLV). For such diseases to be managed and performance to be maintained, early detection is essential. Disease detection is accomplished by both conventional and cutting-edge approaches, such as molecular, serological, and imaging methods. However, the advancements in Machine learning, Deep learning and computational image processing algorithms have demonstrated significant potential in the early and precise diagnosis of disease. In this study, different methods used for machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) for plant disease diagnosis were reviewed and it highlights the need of high-quality datasets, various pre-processing techniques, robust extraction of features, and efficient classification techniques. It also discussed the issues with data collection, symptom variability, over-fitting, and imbalances in classes, along with potential avenues for further advancement in diagnosing diseases systems.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) severely affects patients and has become a warning concern around the world. Several AI-based solutions that have extensively explored convolutional neural networks (CNN) for diagnosis. Most of these approaches only utilise high-level features for diagnosis. However, to solve any non-linear and complex problem, the low-level and mid-level features are as important as the high-level features. Such an approach is missing in the AD classification. To solve this, we proposed a novel way to utilise low, mid, and high (LMH) features for classification. We design the suggested framework using the backbone of a multilayer atrous CNN. We enhance the LMH features by exploiting features from a multicolumn atrous convolution with varying kernel shapes, which can extract features at multiple scales. We adopt, modify, and apply a spatial attention mechanism over the enhanced LMH features to emphasise important features or attributes in the spatial domain. A multilayer of dense neurons receives the fused and enhanced spatially attentive LMH features for AD classification. We demonstrate extensive experiments using an open-source AD dataset available on Kaggle. the proposed framework achieves better performance than current best practices.

the defense of high-frequency electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) for aerospace systems is important to ensure the functionality and reliability of aerospace cars. Moreover, the performance of the system has to follow each plane’s requirements and electromagnetic regulations, such as Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, to hold protection and trustworthiness. While protecting excessive-frequency EMC application is only sometimes taken into consideration, the electrical gadgets, wiring, and numerous components may be electrically laid low with electrical fields, resulting in malfunction of the machine, mistakes in calculations, and faulty indicators. this paper evaluates the optimization of protective techniques for high-frequency EMC packages in aerospace systems through the usage of a mixture of simulation and size strategies. the objectives of the look are to expand an efficient shielding structure and optimize the design to reduce the reflection of electromagnetic wave radiation in the system. A two-layered shielding method with an internal shield of aluminum foil is used to reduce the reflection of electromagnetic wave radiation. Furthermore, the field studies and the simulations executed permit the optimization of the measurements to be greater than it should be predicted. the obtained results imply that the optimized defensive approach makes a good sized enhancement in the defensive overall performance of the device, thereby disposing of errors due to outside EMC resources.

With the demand of protective necessity of underwater environment and infrastructures, it is high time for the technological advancement towards intelligently monitoring and ensuring responsive security mechanism. A novel approach uses modern signal analysis and machine learning methods for the differentiation and subsequent analysis of underwater sounds based on the specific source, focusing on interfering objects like submarines, ships, or other noise caused by humans. the introduced system entails the use of the real-time monitoring system so as to allow constant assessment of the acoustic data collected beneath the water. In case of exposure to any abnormal sounds, an alarm system is activated meant to inform a monitoring and control centre. Its versatility for various underwater conditions is addressed by exercising of the system that considers the fluctuations of water temperature, pressure, and acoustic background. the state centralized monitoring of the system makes it easy for the system to respond to the potential threats, faster than using the graphical user interface. the following sections of this paper describe both the general system design and the architecture and feature extraction of the proposed machine learning algorithms, specific experimental test results and where appropriate demonstrations of the specific features and an assessment of the envisioned role of this system in underwater security and emergency alerting.

Building a sustainable Exascale machine is a very promising target in high performance computing (HPC). To tackle the energy consumption challenge while continuing to provide tremendous performance, the HPC community have rapidly adopted GPU-based systems. Today, GPUs have became the most prevailing components in the massively parallel HPC landscape thanks to their high computational power and energy efficiency. Modeling the energy consumption of applications running on GPUs has gained a lot of attention for the last years. Alas, the HPC community lacks simple yet accurate simulators to predict the energy consumption of general purpose GPU applications. In this work, we address the prediction of the energy consumption of CUDA kernels via simulation. We propose in this paper a simple and lightweight energy model that we implemented using the open-source framework SimGrid. Our proposed model is validated across a diverse set of CUDA kernels and on two different NVIDIA GPUs (Tesla M2075 and Kepler K20Xm). As our modeling approach is not based on performance counters or detailed-architecture parameters, we believe that our model can be easily approved by users who take care of the energy consumption of their GPGPU applications.

Heterogeneous memory systems have become increasingly popular in recent years. Because heterogeneous storage media often show significantly different characteristics in terms of bandwidth, latency, capacity, and energy consumption, it is still challenging to best utilize them for cost-efficient and energy-efficient heterogeneous memory systems. In this paper, we propose a simulation framework for multi-tiered heterogeneous memory architectures based on GEM5 and DRAMsim3 simulators. We design a heterogeneous memory controller to architect Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) as main memory, and architect both Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) and high-Bandwidth Memory (HBM) as a hybrid cache of NVM. Specifically, HBM, DRAM, and NVM are managed in a single (flat) address space. However, we use an address remapping table to maintain the mappings between NVM pages and HBM/DRAM pages, and logically manage HBM/DRAM/NVM as a three-tiered hybrid memory system. We also design a hardware-supported hot page monitor based on Majority Element Algorithm (MEA) to identify the hottest pages in the DRAM, and a dynamic threshold adjustment scheme for hot page migration to balance the memory bandwidth between DRAM and HBM. Our multi-tiered heterogeneous memory architecture can take advantage of the large capacity of NVM, the low latency of DRAM, and the high bandwidth of HBM concurrently. Experimental results show that our tiered memory architecture can improve application performance by an average of $2.5\times$ compared with an NVM-only architecture, and up to 57.4% compared with a DRAM-only architecture. Moreover, the performance gap between our HBM/DRAM/NVM architecture and a HBM-only architecture is less than 10%.

Sign language recognition is a widely researched problem that has gained momentum since the advent of deep learning. Many researchers have designed models using different deep learning architectures claiming high validation accuracy but low real-time performance. the proposed model achieves consistent prediction in real time through Skeletal Feature Maps using keypoints extracted by MediaPipe. these images are passed to a novel 15-layer CNN architecture for classification. the proposed model can achieve a high validation accuracy of 99.84% over a self-created 106-word Indian Sign Language dataset, that is higher than other machine learning models such as SVM, Gaussian Naive Bias, Decision Tree, Random Forest and some pre-trained standard CNN architectures. the salient feature of the proposed model is it is consistent and accurate independent of the background, subject and lighting conditions. Further, the model is implemented as a desktop application and tested by different signers.

Predictable and analyzable I/O is one of the considerable challenges in the design of multi-core real-time systems. A common approach to tackle this issue is to partition and schedule I/O transactions such that interference between tasks is minimized. While this works for packet-oriented interfaces with deterministic blocking times, such as ethernet, these techniques are inapplicable to a whole range of I/O devices with non-deterministic behavior that is commonly found in embedded applications. Interfaces, such as SPI, do not allow for fine-grained scheduling and thus exhibit uncontrolled blocking times. Even worse, their configuration and use must be considered as independent transactions requiring costly synchronization between tasks. the resulting detrimental effects are, in particular, pronounced in settings with mixed task requirements on predictability and determinism. All this makes the temporal analysis of such systems cumbersome and overly pessimistic. To solve these issues, we present LOW I/O, an approach to eliminate the interference of low-level non-deterministic I/O interfaces for real-time tasks with high predictability demands (i.e., critical task) while preserving flexibility for tasks with lower requirements (i.e., uncritical tasks). therefore, we leverage knowledge about the application-specific I/O usage patterns, obtained by static analysis, to derive a tailored hardware architecture. Its key feature is the anticipatory reservation of individual time slots for critical tasks and to mimic preemptivity of I/O units for the remaining system. We have implemented our approach as a toolchain for OSEK-based real-time systems that automatically generates an application-specific SoC design along with a hardware and timing model for subsequent WCET analysis. Our experimental results prove predictable timing for critical tasks with limited impact on uncritical tasks.
