Adaptive Systems (ASs) are able to monitor their own behavior and adapt it when quality goals are not accomplished. MAPE-K is a reference model that provides abstractions to design ASs. Structuring such systems with these abstractions brings many benefits, some related to maintenance and some related to comprehension of the architecture. However, many existing ASs are not designed according to MAPE-K, making those abstractions hidden in their architecture. Architectural Conformance Checking (ACC) is a technique for checking if the current architecture (CA) of a system is obeying the rules prescribed by a planned architecture (PA) or even by a reference model, like MAPE-K. In this paper we present DSL-Remedy, a language for specifying PAs in the context of Adaptive Systems. Our language provides adaptive-systems specific abstractions so that engineers can be more precise when describing the planned architecture. Besides, as our DSL is ASs-specific, it incorporates some rules already known in MAPE-K. We have evaluated our DSL comparing it with a general-purpose DSL and the results show improvements in the productivity. © 2021 ACM.

Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) face significant challenges including packet transmission delays, high power consumption, and complex existing algorithms. these issues are exacerbated by the limited battery life of sensor nodes, which leads to energy wastage due to packet collisions and the need for retransmissions. Additionally, node failures occur when nodes with limited energy resources are used to transmit large packets. To address these challenges, this research introduces a multi-fitness function designed to monitor the arrival pattern of information from each vehicular sensor to the cluster head(CH) based master node, thereby optimizing data flow. the Seagull optimization technique (SOT) is utilized to manage congestion within the vehicular sensor network. Key parameters such as throughput, packet loss, queue size, message sending rate, delay, and congestion level are incorporated into the fitness function to enhance network performance. the proposed algorithm aims to minimize energy consumption and prevent node failures by efficiently managing the flow of data. By monitoring these critical parameters, the algorithm dynamically adjusts to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the network. the effectiveness of the designed algorithm is calculated using MATLAB 2022 and match up with existing algorithms including Adaptive Cuckoo Search (ACS), Particle Swarm algorithm - Gravitational Search optimization approach (PSOGSA), and Cuckoo Search (CS) optimized technique. In conclusion, the multi-fitness function combined with the Seagull Optimization Algorithm offers a robust solution to the challenges faced by VANETs, providing a more efficient and sustainable network operation. this research highlights the potential of advanced optimization techniques in enhancing the performance and reliability of vehicular networks.

the purposes of image fusion are to acquire a comprehensive picture which can show extra unique visual facts while compared to its original person supply pix. On this regard, a comparative evaluation of Fourier remodel (feet) and Wavelet transform (WT) for photo fusion is proposed. As the backbone for many-core chips, Network-on-chips (NoCs) consume a significant share of total chip power. As a result, decreasing the power consumption in these components can reduce the total chip's power significantly. NoC's routers can be powered down using power-gating, a promising technique for reducing static power consumption. In some advanced methods, routers are put in sleep mode and only wake up when they are needed to turn/inject packets. Since waking up the router takes several cycles to complete, packets will experience high latency. In this regard, application mapping significantly impacts the number of turns. this article proposes a reinforcement learning (RL) framework based on Actor-Critic architecture to optimize the application mapping problem to minimize the number of turn packets as well as communication cost. Our RL framework learns the heuristic of the mapping problem and outputs a near-optimal mapping. A 2-opt local search algorithm fine-tunes this strategy and provides an improved mapping. Our simulations show that the proposed RL framework can achieve better cost and algorithm run-time performance compared to other heuristic algorithms such as Simulated Annealing (SA) and Genetic Algorithm (GA).

In the arena of electronics, the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) forms the cornerstone of every component, extending from everyday gadgets to advanced defense equipment. the escalating pace of modern life necessitates accelerated PCB production, calling for swift and precise mechanisms to ensure defect-free output for reliable manufacturing. though such quality control tasks were traditionally manual, the advent of machine learning and deep learning has ensured automated and reliable solutions. A standout among these is YOLO, a speedy computer vision algorithm renowned for its unmatched speed and accuracy. this paper seeks to conduct an all-encompassing study of the cutting-edge YOLOv8 sub-models, delving into their individual performance attributes. the work encapsulates the implementation of these YOLOv8 models, followed by a rigorous analysis of their results on a range of metrics like $\mathrm{mAP50}, \mathbf{m A P 5 0 - 9 5}$, precision, and recall. An integral part of this study is the preprocessing of the HRIPCB dataset, comprising six distinct defect categories, namely Missing hole, Mouse bite, Spur, Spurious copper, Open circuit, and Short. the ensuing robust methodology involves comprehensive data preprocessing, data cleansing, and standardization. Ensuring a high-level of data quality, image enhancement techniques such as Colour Balance Adjustment, Histogram Equalization, and Image Filtering - Sharpening are employed. the study shines a spotlight on the individual training and testing processes of the YOLOv8 sub-models, namely v8n, v8s, v8m, v8l, and v8x, leveraging various hyperparameters to optimize model performance. By surpassing the ${9 5. 8 \%}$ mAP50 achieved by earlier YOLO versions, this research aspires to revolutionize PCB defect detection. It paves the way for enhanced quality control mechanisms in PCB manufacturing, thus contributing to the advancement of electronics production regimes

Agriculture serves as the backbone of India’s economy, engaging over 80% of its population and contributing significantly to GDP growth. India, ranking as the second-largest producer globally, relies on potatoes to address hunger issues and improve agricultural productivity. this highlights the significance of prioritizing potato cultivation to address food security challenges and assist plans for economic development in India. In recent years, potato yields have faced a severe hindrance in the growth process attributed to two major diseases namely, Early Blight and Late Blight. If left undetected in their early stages, crops can undergo serious damage resulting in decreased production as well as substantial losses. the proposed framework utilizes YOLOv8, an enhanced technique for efficient analysis of potato leaf images. Using the PlantVillage dataset as a guide, we have fine tuned the YOLOV8 model to make it more sensitive to the distinct characteristics of early and late blight. the suggested approach enhances the efficiency and accuracy of image analysis, facilitating faster as well as precise identification of diseases. the results have demonstrated the high efficiency of modified YOLOv8 in terms of key statistical metrics including detection accuracy, precision, recall and F1-score yielding values of $\mathbf{9 9. 7 9 \%}$, $\mathbf{9 8. 9 0 \%, 1 0 0 \%}$ and $\mathbf{9 9. 4 8 \%}$, respectively. Experimental findings reveal that optimized YOLOv8 outperforms other existing target detection and identification networks, including CNN, VGGNet16, ResNet-50 and YOLOv8. Consequently, this research is anticipated to reduce the workload of farmers and facilitate swift identification and detection of potato leaf diseases, thereby mitigating economic losses.

Measuring statistical properties of network traffic can improve our understanding of traffic distribution and help us detect short and long-term anomalies. However, computing the exact value of these properties requires significant storage and computation, which limits their application in high-speed networks. Hardware accelerators provide the computational power to process a large sequence of network packets with high throughput and low latency, but their performance is ultimately limited by the amount of on-chip memory available on the device. Consequently, researchers have proposed sketch-based algorithms to estimate properties of a data stream with sub linear memory and theoretical estimation error bounds. In this paper, we present a streaming algorithm and hardware accelerator for quantile estimation, which is based on the architecture of the KLL sketch. Implemented on an AMD Virtex XCU55 UltraScale+ FPGA, the accelerator operates at a clock frequency of 356 MHz, thereby achieving a minimum line rate of 182 Gbps and a maximum estimation latency of 4.33 µs. When processing a set of 10 real traffic traces of up to 123 million packets, the accelerator estimates 1000 packet-size quantiles per trace with a median error of 0.39% or less, and a maximum error of 1.3% or less across all traces.

abstract Reliability and cost are essential elements to consider in all engineering network designs. In RF-localization systems, reliability can be defined as seamless coverage with precise and accurate localization. Cost-efficiency aims to reduce the infrastructure while simultaneously maintaining high accuracy. Both the cost and reliability can be associated with Access Points (APs) deployment. therefore, it is paramount to study how to optimize the APs placement in RF-localization systems. To select the optimal AP configuration, different selection metrics are proposed. this paper investigates different AP placement and optimization strategies for WLAN fingerprinting indoor localization systems. performance of selection metrics are evaluated experimentally in a realistic indoor environment. A fingerprinting database is developed by a grid spacing of 2m using 7 WLAN APs, by collecting Received Signal Strength (RSS) values using an Android smartphone app. the experimental results show, the AP configuration obtained by the metric combining the fingerprint difference metric with the geometric dilution of precision, results in high localization accuracy.

To become auto-adaptive, computer systems should be able to have some knowledge of incoming applications even before launching the application on the system, so that the runtime environment can be customized to the particular needs of this application. In this paper, we propose the architecture of an auto-tuner which relies on record linkage methods to match an incoming application with a database of already known applications. We then present a concrete implementation of this auto-tuner on high performance computing (HPC) systems, to submit unknown incoming applications with the best possible parametrization of a smart prefetch strategy by analyzing their metadata. We test this auto-tuner in conditions close to a production environment, and show an improvement of 28% compared to using the default parametrization. the conducted evaluation reveals a negligible overhead of our auto-tuner when running in production and a significant resilience for parallel use on a high-traffic HPC cluster. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In today’s digital age, the rise of online media has made information readily accessible, but it has also facilitated the rapid spread of fake news. this phenomenon undermines trust in reliable news sources and fosters confusion among the public. Consequently, individuals must exercise caution when sharing information, verifying its credibility to prevent the spread of false information and uphold the trustworthiness of reputable channels. A highly accurate system has been designed to detect fake news efficiently and with a high level of accuracy. In this paper, an enhanced approach is suggested for classification based on the Linear Discriminant Analysis and Quadratic Discriminant Analysis models, some advanced methods that help fight against fake media stories. A number of natural language processing techniques, including tokenization, stop word removal, and URL and HTML tag removal, were applied to a comprehensive dataset of fake news collections. For the purpose of classification, two models-Linear Discriminant Analysis and Quadratic Discriminant Analysis models-were applied for the correct detection of fake news. In order to evaluate effectiveness, performance measures such as accuracy, precision, recall, F1 score, confusion matrix, and ROC curve were critically analyzed. the accuracy of LDA is 97%, while QDA achieves 67%. this paper attempts to provide a step toward efforts engaged in fighting misinformation in the digital age and trying to keep reliable news sources intact.
