this talk discusses issues in defining multiple overlays within P2P networks for the caching of application-data as well as conventional metadata i.e. adverts, or locations to data. I will discuss work carried out at Cardiff in this area that is being built on top of the P2PS middleware, which allows new types of super-peer overlays to be defined through grouping. Such overlays extend super-peer capabilities to help programmers create schemes for defining new ways for locating data sets as well as adverts. Data-caching groups co-exist withthe conventional super-peer overlay, which still bootstraps the network by providing the discovery backbone. Parameters for super-peer or data caching groups can also be adjusted e.g. number of super-peer conenctions, caching policies (replication), security policies, etc, and we are also building interfaces for defining new matchmaking algorithms (for matching adverts with queries) as well as more sophisticated schemes for organising super peers (e.g. distributed hashtables, routing tables, agents, etc.) to be plugged into the network.

Evolutionary algorithms are widely used to solve optimisation problems. However, challenges of transparency arise in both visualising the processes of an optimiser operating through a problem and understanding the problem features produced from many-objective problems, where comprehending four or more spatial dimensions is difficult. this work considers the visualisation of a population as an optimisation process executes. We have adapted an existing visualisation technique to multi- and many-objective problem data, enabling a user to visualise the EA processes and identify specific problem characteristics and thus providing a greater understanding of the problem landscape. this is particularly valuable if the problem landscape is unknown, contains unknown features or is a many-objective problem. We have shown how using this framework is effective on a suite of multi- and many-objective benchmark test problems, optimising them with NSGA-II and NSGA-III.

Two different methods for high performance calculation cluster are proposed to optimize holographic algorithms of computer generated holography (CGH). We completed the numerical simulations and finish the experience. Results show that we can reconstruct a satisfied object by using our holography. Moreover, the computation process of CGH for three-dimensional (3D) dynamic holographic display has been sped up by programming withthese methods. Not only can it optimize file loading process but also inline calculation process. the CGH of gigabyte data is generated finally. Besides, the first method can effectively reduce time costs of loading and writing files on CPU. It is believed the proposed method can support the huge data processing for 3D dynamic holographic simulation and virtual reality in near future.

Massive computing requirements of mobile applications greatly challenge the limited resources in the cloud. It is observed that parked vehicles (PVs) have redundant computing resources for task execution. Hence, we focus on how to efficiently and economically apply PVs for assisting the cloud. An proposed incentive mechanism, initiated by the cloud, motivates PVs to participate in the offloading of cloud's computing tasks. We build the utility to characterize a PV's profits, generated from task execution and socially-aware effects from other PVs. the benefits of the cloud consider many factors, such as computing tasks of mobile users, energy cost, economic compensation for PVs and PVs' computation delay. the interactions among PVs and the cloud formulate a two-stage Stackelberg game to maximize their profits. the performance of the proposed model is investigated by simulations. Numerical results prove its efficiency for enhancing PVs' utilities and cloud's quality of service.

A parallel process of computation of dynamic processes is based on a diakoptic theory of the portioning of the system into the sub-systems, that are computed independent of each other, in the fixed time intervals. Every process is defined by the complexity of computation. this complexity is changed in the time of process of computations. these properties are utilized to implement computation in parallel systems. Currently the growth of parallel systems has been observed for several years. In this article, idea of GPU computations and parallel algorithms are presented. the results of computation on tested parallel system are shown and interpreted.

Legendre moments have been widely used as feature descriptors in image analysis. this paper presents a new approach for the exact computation of Legendre moments of binary images. Using a Green's formula, the double integral is first transformed into a simple integration along the boundary which is represented by a polygon. We then propose an efficient method for computing the line moments. Comparison with some known algorithms shows that the proposed algorithm is more accurate, and is independent of the slope, so that it is stable in numerical computation.
