Despite numerous studies delving into social media politicking, there is, thus far, little understanding of how distinct emotions spread online. Much of the prior work has focused on positive vs. negative diffusion or measured emotional rhetoric without considering public engagement on such sites. Since elected officials increasingly turn to social media, even less is known about the impact of distinct emotional messaging on mobilizing users, attracting supporters, or disseminating political speeches. Moving beyond merely a valence-based approach, the study here seeks to address this gap by analyzing over 23,000 tweets posted by Senate candidates during the 2018 and 2022 US midterm elections through natural language processing. Specifically, leveraging the IBM Tone Analyzer, the present work implements a cross-sectional examination to explore: a) whether certain emotions - joy, confidence, anger, fear, and sadness - conveyed in candidates' tweets might be more likely to garner public attention;and b) if so, does this pattern vary across the political spectrum, illuminating the ways in which Democratic vs. Republican candidates adopt to expand their online reach over time? © 2023 IEEE.

the edge computing architecture exposes data transmission and storage to unauthorized access, compromising data integrity. Users typically employ multiple data backups to ensure data reliability and availability, enhancing data redundancy and recovery capabilities. Nevertheless, verifying the integrity of multiple backup data under edge computing entails computational and communication overhead. In response, we present a parallel and batch multiple replica auditing protocol tailored for edge computing. Contributions include an efficient multiple replica construction method based on RSA, minimizing computational overhead, and a parallel data integrity verification approach that reduces communication overhead. A prototype implementation is evaluated in a real edge computing environment and compared to existing multiple replica auditing approaches. © 2023 IEEE.

For large-scale multitask wireless sensor networks (LSM-WSNs), the traditional data collection mode could suffer low energy-efficiency on data transmission, since the large-scale multitask scenarios could result in much higher packet collision probability, especially for harsh environments. Mobile data collection is an efficient data acquisition way to prolong network lifetime for LSM-WSNs. However, the mobile collectors could suffer electricity shortage problem, since the limited battery capacity of any mobile collector could not afford the energy consumption of its long-distance movement and massive data collection in large-scale multitask scenarios. Deploying wireless chargers to supplement the energy of mobile collectors is a feasible solution to electricity shortage problem, but will incur extra charger deployment cost. In this paper, we focus on the problem that how to optimize such charger deployment cost, which is NP-hard. By transforming it into minimum-cost submodular cover problem, we devise an efficient approximation algorithm with a provable approximation ratio. the extensive simulation results reveal that our solution always outperforms the other solutions under whatever configurations. © 2023 IEEE.

the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) is a fundamental algorithm in signal processing;significant efforts have been made to improve its performance using software optimizations and specialized hardware accelerators. Computational imaging modalities, such as MRI, often rely on the Non-uniform Fast Fourier Transform (NuFFT), a variant ()I' the EFT for processing data acquired from non-uniform sampling patterns. the most time-consuming step of the NuFFT algorithm is "gridding," wherein non-uniform samples are interpolated to allow a uniform FFT to be computed over the data. Each non-uniform sample affects a window of non-contiguous memory locations, resulting in poor cache and memory bandwidth utilization. As a result, gridding can account for more than 99.6% of the NuFFT computation time, while the FFT requires less than 0.4%. We present Slice-and-Dice, a novel approach to the NuFFT's gridding step that eliminates the presorting operations required by prior methods and maps more efficiently to hardware. Our GPI! implementation achieves gridding speedups of over 250x and 16x vs prior ***-art CPU and GPU implementations, respectively. We achieve further speedup and energy efficiency gains by implementing Slice-and-Dice in hardware with JIGSAW, a streaming hardware accelerator for non-uniform data gridding. JIGSAW uses stall-free fixed-point pipelines to process M non-uniform samples in approximately M cycles, irrespective of sampling pattern-yielding speedups of over 1500x the CPU baseline and 36x the state-of-the-art GPU implementation, consuming similar to 200 mW power and similar to 12 mm(2) area in 16 nm technology. Slice-and-Dice GPU and JIGSAW ASIC implementations achieve unprecedented end-to-end NuFFT speedups of 8x and 36x compared to the state-of-the-art GPU implementation, respectively.

the distributed dynamic network is vulnerable to scanning attacks due to the openness of wireless channels. Traditional defense systems tend to be passive and exhibit delayed responses. A moving target defense approach, namely distributed Network Address Shuffling (DNAS), is proposed to thwart attackers' network scanning through the shuffling of network addresses. To resolve address conflicts resulting from this shuffling, DNAS employs a dynamic diffusion method of allocated addresses before the shuffling process to reduce the probability of conflict generation, and utilizes a passive detection based conflict elimination algorithm after the shuffling process to eliminate any generated conflicts. To select low-risk addresses, DNAS leverages an artificial feature selection based Fully Connected Neural Network (FCNN) to recognize the attacker's scanning policy, and identifies low-risk addresses based on the scanning range of the policy. Empirical experiments and theoretical analysis indicate that DNAS significantly reduces the probability of address conflict generation at a minimal cost. It effectively eliminates all generated address conflicts within an average conflict resolution time of less than 500ms. Furthermore, DNAS exhibits an accuracy of 99.45% in recognizing scanning policies, surpassing pseudorandom address hopping in diminishing the success rate of sequential, local random, and mixed scanning. © 2023 IEEE.

In Internet of thing (ToT) system based on edge intelligence, pay-for-use demand has become a consensus, and the pricing of ToT services has attracted the attention of academia and industry. the pricing method based on non-cooperative game allows edge service providers to compete fairly, effectively preventing edge nodes from malicious bidding. However, in this scenario, a task can only be assigned to one edge vendor. Because only one winner can profit each time, it is easy to create a large number of edge service providers who cannot profit for a long time due to insufficient incentives. To this end, a dynamic alliance pricing mechanism based on distributed edge-intelligence is proposed. Edge service providers can freely choose to form an edge dynamic alliance, which not only retains the independence of edge nodes, but also makes full use of the advantages of mutual cooperation between nodes. Tn order to prevent abnormal behaviors of edge nodes, we set up necessary restrictive rules. At the same time, we designed a privacy-enhanced joint pricing prediction algorithm to screen the alliance's candidate solutions to improve pricing efficiency and edge benefit. the experimental results show that, compared with the traditional game method, the performance of the mechanism we proposed improves the utilization rate of edge resources by 32.76%-61.37%. Meanwhile, the prediction accuracy was improved by 16.47%38.86%, and the average prediction time was reduced by 42.81 %-65.57%. © 2023 IEEE.

Cross-subject electroencephalogram (EEG) drowsiness recognition is currently one of the most efficient methods. However, the traditional cross-subject approaches overlook the correlation between channel sub-features and effectively utilize the potential connection between frequency features and drowsiness, making it difficult to extract shared features from differentiated subjects. this paper proposes a novel deep learning model called CPCNN to address the challenging of cross-subject drowsiness recognition without calibration and improve accuracy. CPCNN obtains delta frequency band features related to drowsiness from sub-features in the channel dimension, effectively combining the advantages of delta frequency bands in EEG with the richness of channel features. To capture the common features of drowsiness, a channel slicing module is proposed, which divides the spatial and channel features extracted by the deep separable convolution module into multiple sub-features along the channel dimension. In addition, to further improve cross-subject recognition performance, a multi-scale parallel group convolution is designed to capture four key frequency sub-feature groups within the delta frequency band. the experimental results show that CPCNN boosts the recognition performance, significantly outperforms all strong baselines. On balanced and unbalanced public datasets, the average accuracy of CPCNN is 81.49% and 78.26%, respectively, surpassing the excellent baseline method by 3.14% and 0.56%. © 2023 IEEE.

the reverse-time migration (RTM) imaging algorithm, which is used for complex underground structure analysis, is known as one of the current mainstream method of high-precision seismic imaging. Nowadays, as the fast development of seismic data acquisition technology, there exists large amount of seismic data. thus, the requirement for the efficient computation of the reverse-time migration (RTM) imaging algorithms over large-scale data have been increased greatly. To address this problem, in this paper, we propose a distributed reverse-time migration imaging algorithm based on the widely-used Spark platform first. Based on that, we design and implement a RTM computation solution based on Spark and GPU with several optimizations, including pre-shuffle&caching and load balancing. We also analyze the fault tolerance capability of the proposed distributed algorithm. We evaluate the proposed methods on the typical three-dimensional wavefild benchmark dataset. Experimental results show that the performance of the Spark based reverse-time migration imaging algorithm can scale up near linearly with computing nodes. In addition, the GPU+Spark based version has significant performance improvement on execution efficiency over the Spark-based algorithm. Moreover, the proposed optimization strategies also take effect. In addition, the method proposed in this paper has been applied in the real-world environment of one of the top oil exploration companies world wide, and has achieved significant improvement under the premise of the algorithm correctness guarantee. © 2023 IEEE.

In light of recent advancements in Internet of Multimedia things (IoMT) and 5G technology, both the variety and quantity of data have been rapidly increasing. Consequently, handling zero-shot cross-modal retrieval (ZSCMR) of unlabeled multi-modal data has emerged as a prominent research topic. Early models utilized generative adversarial networks and class embeddings to assist in building a common feature space. However, this approach resulted in a loss of reliability in the feature distributions of individual modalities. In this paper, we propose a method called Ranking on Heterogeneous Manifold (RHM) to address the aforementioned issue. Our model comprises three feature extractors, each dedicated to extracting features from text, images and multimodal data. Subsequently, the relationship structures derived from these feature extractors are employed to construct a heterogeneous manifold. A diffusion process is then conducted on this heterogeneous manifold, ultimately yielding the final ranking scores. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed modal has the capability to acquire more effective knowledge representation, thus enhancing the effectiveness of ZSCMR. © 2023 IEEE.

In this research, we tackled the complex task of aligning audio and lyrics content automatically. this task entails the precise matching of lyrics with the corresponding audio segments in songs, necessitating the coordination of two distinct modalities: text and audio. To surmount this challenge, we employed a contrastive learning approach that generates cross-modal embeddings capable of establishing connections between the audio and text domains. Furthermore, we adopted a hierarchical and cascading design. Initially, the system predicts synchronization at the sentence level and subsequently refines the alignment at the word level. this design equips the system to handle extended sequences effectively, as cross-correlations leverage secondary memory that corresponds to sequence length. through this innovative approach, we developed a trainable end-to-end system that can harness weakly annotated training data, concurrently learning a robust text model optimized for alignment tasks. Our experiments demonstrated substantial enhancements in average alignment accuracy when utilizing our proposed system, underscoring its robustness compared to previous state-of-the-art models. © 2023 IEEE.
