Supersonic cold spraying of droplets containing functional nanomaterials is of particular interest in advanced thin-film coating, that enabling high-adhesion strength particle deposition. In this method, coating occurs when the particles are accelerated to supersonic velocities in a converging-diverging nozzle, and then impact onto a target surface. Here, the optimum design of the nozzle is essential to deal with low-inertia particles like droplets. In particular, nozzle geometrical parameters (i.e., throat diameter, exit diameter, divergent length) determine droplets' acceleration and deposition characteristics under supersonic flow conditions. To this end, we thoroughly investigate the influence of nozzle geometrical parameters on droplets acceleration by numerical modeling followed by experimental validation, and a case study on surface coating application. Two-phase flow modeling was used to predict droplets' behavior in continuous gas flow for different nozzle configurations. the results show that the nozzle expansion ratio - a function of throat and exit diameters - has a significant influence on droplet velocity, followed by divergent length. In particular, to correctly accelerate low-inertia liquid droplets, optimum nozzle expansion ratio for an axisymmetric convergent-divergent nozzle is found to be in a range of 1.5-2.5 for various sets of parameters, which is different than the recommended expansion ratio (i.e., 5- 9) for cold spraying of micro-scale metal particles. the findings can help determine the ideal design of a supersonic nozzle to minimize turbulent velocity fluctuation and shock wave formation that in turn assist to effectively spray low-inertia particles like micro-scale droplets. Based on the simulation results, an optimal design of supersonic nozzle is selected and prototyped for the experimental studies. Conversational Information Retrieval (CIR) is an emerging field of Information Retrieval (IR) at the intersection of interactive IR and dialogue systems for open domain information needs. In order to optimize these interactions and enhance the user experience, it is necessary to improve IR models by taking into account sequential heterogeneous user-system interactions. Reinforced learning has emerged as a paradigm particularly suited to optimize sequential decision making in many domains and has recently appeared in IR. However, training these systems by reinforcement learning on users is not feasible. One solution is to train IR systems on user simulations that model the behavior of real users. Our contribution is twofold: 1) reviewing the literature on user modeling and user simulation for information access, and 2) discussing the different research perspectives for user simulations in the context of CIR. © 2021 17th conference en Recherche d'Informations et Applications, CORIA 2021. An adaptive control algorithm for set-point tracking of bioreactor-scale microbial cultivation process parameters is presented, where adaptation of PI controller parameters is based on the controller input/output signals only and does not require additional measurements of process variables. A simple gain scheduling algorithm is developed using tendency model of the controlled process. Extreme operating conditions were selected and modeled to test the algorithms performance while controlling pH in fed-batch operating mode. the simulation results showed that the gain-scheduled controller demonstrated robust behavior and significantly improved the control performance compared to that of fixed-parameter controllers.

the paper focuses on the stiffness modeling of a new type of compliant manipulator and its non-linear behavior while interacting with the environment. the manipulator under study is a serial mechanical structure composed of dual-triangle segments. the main attention is paid to the initial straight configuration which may suddenly change its shape under the loading. It was discovered that under the external loading such manipulator may have six equilibrium configurations but only two of them are stable. In the neighborhood of these configurations, the manipulator behavior was analyzed using the Virtual Joint Method (VJM). this approach allowed us to propose an analytical technique for computing a critical force causing the buckling and evaluate the manipulator shape under the loading. A relevant simulation study confirmed the validity of the developed technique and its advantages in non-linear stiffness analysis.

With the rapid development of deep learning technology and the wide application of intelligent recommendation systems, how to apply deep learning technology to intelligent recommendation systems to continuously improve the recommendation effect has always been a hot research direction. User historical behavior information plays an increasingly important role in the evolution and iteration of the recommender system model. Focusing on how to make full use of the time context of user behavior, how to better deal with the sparsity of massive data and system cold-start problem, the personalized recommendation algorithm is proposed. this algorithm represents the time sequence behavior data with the graph network structure, uses the graph representation learning model node2vec to obtain the graph embedding representation of users and items in the hyperparameter space, and introduces IF_ISF for the negative sampling to improve the model efficiency, and then generates the embedding representation of the user temporal context by the sum-pooling method, and also generates the embedding representation of the static attribute information of users and items by the deep semantic matching method based on DSSM, and finally concatenates the feature vector and uses the machine learning model XGBoost for recommendation ranking prediction. the ablation experiments through the comparison of multiple models on the MovieLens_1M public dataset show that the proposed algorithm is better than the baseline algorithm on the three indicators of MAE, Macro_F1 and Micro_F1, which has different degrees of improvement and can effectively improve the recommendation accuracy and satisfaction.

Geometric deviations of mechanical products are specified by tolerancing in the design stage for a functional purpose. In order to verify the impact of geometric deviations on functional surfaces while considering the manufacturing process, form defects have been considered in tolerance analysis in recent years. As a digital representation of geometrical defects in mechanical parts and assemblies, Skin Model Shapes enables the rapid and comprehensive generation of non-ideal shapes from either measurement or via data augmentation using simulation approaches. this paper presents a novel method for form defects modeling using Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN). the form defects of cylindrical surfaces considering machining process are represented and used for training a Wasserstein GAN. the pre-trained network is able to generate realistic form defects for cylindrical Skin Model Shapes rapidly and automatically without explicitly formulated representations. Manufacturing errors in turning process are considered in this approach and the generated samples from WGAN can be re-used for generating new cylindrical surfaces with a mapping strategy considering specification. A case study of a cylindricity specification is used in the paper to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.

Transient drain current (Ids) overshoot is generally observed during the switching process of low-temperature poly-silicon thin-film transistors (LTPS-TFTs), followed by a gradual recovery to the steady-state afterwards. To model this behavior and to predict its impact at the circuit level, a surface-potential based LTPS-TFT compact model is established first, considering the trap occupation in poly-silicon (poly-Si) channel and the gate oxide. then a time-dependent trapping and detrapping model is brought forward to describe the Ids transient characteristics of LTPS-TFTs. the model can be used in circuit simulation to optimize the circuits in display.
