the application of reflective intelligent surfaces (RISs) combined with the vast bandwidth available in the thz spectrum band is an enabling technology that can substantially enhance the performance of industrial networks in the sixth generation of wireless communications (6G). In this context, this work analyzes the performance improvement achieved by deploying multiple RISs in a system operating at 140 GHz in an indoor factory (InF) scenario. the analysis is based on ray tracing simulations using a geometric model representing an InF environment. the effects of specular reflection, diffraction, diffuse scattering, and atmospheric molecular absorption are considered in the propagation modeling. the performance of the networks is measured based on the achievable data rate (ADR), and the gain from using RISs is quantified by comparing it to the performance of a system without the RIS aid. According to the simulation results, the application of five RISs with 1000 reflecting elements promotes an increase of 4.1 bit/s/Hz in the average achievable rate when compared to the non-RIS-assisted system.

In this paper,a new distributed model predictive control(MPC)scheme for freeway traffic control is *** is aimed at reducing the communication efforts and the computation times in a large *** new algorithm can coordinate a large number of on-ramps throughout a freeway network in a partially cooperative *** communication is performed between neighboring on-ramps in a special serial fashion and with three different proposed cooperative *** computation time is much less than that of existing distributed MPC approaches in the literature,while achieving a performance close to the one of the centralized MPC *** evaluate the performance of the proposed partially cooperative schemes,a freeway network case study is selected and the problem of coordination between several on-ramps is solved using different methods from a centralized approach to a fully decentralized *** obtained results show a significant decrease in the total computation time with respect to the centralized and fully cooperative schemes,while maintaining a close distance to the optimal objective function obtained from the centralized ***,the performance of the proposed partially cooperative MPC method is evaluated in the case of incidents in the network.

Indoor, underground, or underwater three-dimensional (3D) localization provides fundamental support to the applications of mobile wireless sensor networks (WSNs). In these applications, a single robot cannot work, as there are no GPS signals and few references for the robot to loalizae itself in the large in-door spaces. Existing in-door localization approaches usually rely on the projection of the 3D topology graph onto a horizontal plane. Such projection is infeasible in a narrow vertical space, either, since it requires three location-known nodes, called anchors, as reference nodes on a large horizontal plane. In this paper, we propose a new distributed 3D localization protocol, FlagLoc, for the mobile WSNs. FlagLoc uses a flag that is composed of three anchor nodes on a plane of any angle to start the localization and to lead the network motion of a mobile WSN. Furthermore, FlagLoc compensates for distance and motion measurement errors. the evaluation shows that FlagLoc significantly outperforms the existing state-of-the-art schemes in terms of accuracy.

Sensing multi parameters is a significant challenge in wireless and IoT networks. We have proposed a smart low-cost multi sensor chipless RFID tag in this research. the sensor tag operates at a frequency of 11.25 GHz, while the temperature-sensitive tag functions at 5.5 GHz. the tag has been analyzed for stepwise temperature increment from 25°C to 100°C, whereas humidity is monitored from 0%RH to 100%RH levels. Kapton HN substrate is utilized for RH monitoring whereas Rogers RT/Duroid 6010.2LM is used as temperature sensitive substrate. Heat resistant Kapton HN tape is deployed over temperature sensitive tag slot to analyze sensitivity and selectivity of proposed sensor tag. the sensing behavior of tag is reliable and finds suitable applications towards IoT and sensing applications. this research underlines the potential of wireless smart tags to revolutionize IoE connectivity.

Narrowband-Internet of things (NB-IoT) is an emerging cellular communication technology designed for low power wide area applications. Cell selection determines the channel of user device and hence is an important issue in cellular networks. In this paper, we take the first attempt to examine and optimize the the cell selection in NB-IoT networks by field measurement. We conduct measurements at 30 different locations which involve 5 typical application scenarios of NB-IoT. Two kinds of NB-IoT modules and two network operators are also involved in the measurements. We find three potential issues on the cell selection of the User Equipment (UE) through the measurements. We propose an adaptive cell selection approach to optimize the cell selection of UE. the simulation test based on real-world measurement data shows that the cell selected by the adaptive approach can improve the coverage level and reduce the power consumption for UE.

Protest is a collective action problem and can be modeled as a coordination game in which two or more people each take an action with the potential to achieve shared mutual benefits, only if their actions coincide. In the context of protest participation, successful coordination requires that people know each others' willingness to participate, and that this information is common knowledge. Social networks can facilitate the creation of common knowledge through the flow of messages. Although there is a rich experimental literature that documents behavior in coordination games with and without communication, little is known about how people coordinate behaviors within a social network and how different types of communication structures affect behavior. In this paper, we develop a theoretically based on-line experiment with Amazon Mechanical Turk participants to characterize the emergence of common knowledge and coordination through interactions within a network. Our experiment is designed to identify the effects of both social network topology and communication and to falsify the game-theoretic predictions. Our data reveal that choices are affected by the network structure and they move towards the theoretical predictions with communication. We use our behavioral findings to simulate dynamics in more complex networks through agent-based modeling. thus, we combine human behaviors identified in experiments with realistic social network structures to reveal patterns not previously observed.

Scientific and technological literature resources sharing can improve the utilization of literature resources. Understanding how scientific and technological literature resources are shared can help academia better share literature resources. Based on bibliometrics and the CiteSpace software, this paper conducts cooperative network analysis and co-occurrence network analysis of articles in the field of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) from 1990 to 2019 in the Web of Science database. the analysis found that Jolliet O. et al., the scholar with the highest degree of central nodes, played a great bridging role in the process of LCA method development and knowledge sharing, and the research of LCA experienced a transition from methodological research to applications. Combined with the background investigation data from Wanfang Dataset, we find that such resources are generally shared in the academic community through academic exchanges, academic visits and supervisor-student relations. Academic cooperation within a same institution or organization is extremely common. international communication among scholars promotes the sharing of literature resources among international organizations, and team leaders are more likely to share their literature resources. the bibliometrics based on time series and background investigation method can more intuitively and deeply explore the sharing model of literature resources.

In Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) design, the energy factor is the most critical issue due to the limited capacity of the sensor nodes power sources. the clustering is one of the most representative approaches for reducing the energy consumption in large scale WSN. this paper suggests a new two levels energy efficient clustering approach based on fuzzy logic model to improve the network lifetime. A two-level clustering scenario is considered in which fuzzy logic is applied in both Step1 and Step2 for respectively cluster head (CH) selection and cluster formation processes. the proposed model uses similarity parameters: similarity difference rate and similarity coverage rate, to measure the spatial correlation of data in the network, the distance parameters: closeness to CH, closeness to the sink and the residual energy as fuzzy logic inputs. Comparing the new proposed fuzzy logic based clustering to other schemes and variants of clustering approaches through simulation shows its better performance in terms of energy consumption and network lifetime extension.
