the emergence of 5G New Radio technology, especially using millimeter-wave frequencies, offers unparalleled data rates and low latency, which are crucial for the new generation. However, the limited range of high-frequency bands, such as mmWave and TeraHertz, results in frequent channel quality fluctuations and handoffs. Additionally, urban micro-cellular deployments encounter frequent channel variations and outages due to UE (vehicle) mobility, making it challenging for TCP protocols to adapt to fluctuating link quality and network capacity. this often results in underutilized resources, service disruptions, and connectivity gaps. To address these issues, we introduce mmTCP—a solution that dynamically adjusts the congestion window based on signal quality post-handoff to minimize delay and maximize throughput, enabling the transport layer to adapt to shifting wireless conditions. mmTCP optimizes congestion and flow control to mitigate link fluctuations and enhance user experience. ns-3 experiments show that mmTCP consistently improves throughput by up to 42% and reduces latency by up to 43% through effective link-layer adaptations in Numerology 2.

Exploring influential spreaders and predicting missing links in complex networks is essential for understanding and effectively controlling network dynamics. this paper presents a Graph Convolutional Network (GCN)-based link prediction method to estimate the probability of future link formation. We incorporate node features that capture local and global topological connectivity structures and feed these into the GCN model, where convolutional layers aggregate neighboring information and transform node features. this approach enables the model to capture structural patterns by integrating local and global information from neighboring nodes. In the final layer, the GCN model computes a prediction score representing the likelihood of an edge’s existence, using insights gained during training. Finally, considering the predicted links, we update the network structure and introduce a novel centrality method called Emerging Spreader Centrality (ESC) to identify emerging spreaders within this augmented network. We conduct two separate experiments to evaluate the performance of the GCN-based link prediction and the ESC method, comparing their effectiveness with various state-of-the-art methods. Results demonstrate that our approach not only effectively predicts future links but also identifies emerging spreaders in the augmented networks.

the advancement in technology leads to provide an efficient communication among vehicles to offload resource-intensive tasks for transportation-based services. However, it may cause issue related to efficient secure resource utilization among vehicular nodes. the key reason behind these considerations are the high mobility of vehicles and their high computational requirements for task execution. To solve these issues, an osmotic computing based vehicular communication scheme has been proposed. the primary objective of the scheme is to provide a communication model which can perform effective secure resource management among static or dynamic vehicular nodes through Osmotic Computing. By utilizing the key components of osmotic computing such as osmotic resource manager and node manager, numerous resources have been shared with the vehicles in an effective way. the performance of the proposed scheme has been evaluated using simulation. Results obtained show that the proposed scheme outperform the existing schemes in terms of various performance evaluation parameters.

the evolution of 5G and anticipated 6G networks presents new opportunities for connectivity, performance, and services, but it also introduces substantial security risks due to increased complexity and attack surfaces. Traditional perimeter-based security models fall short in these environments, prompting a shift towards Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA), which enforces principles of strict identity verification, least-privilege access, and continuous monitoring. As ZTA gains traction, standardization bodies such as NIST, 3GPP, and ETSI are developing guidelines to incorporate Zero Trust principles into 5G and 6G infrastructures. this paper explores how these standardization efforts, alongside core ZTA principles, provide a resilient and adaptable security framework for 5G and future 6G networks. Furthermore, the paper highlights the challenges of implementing Zero Trust in 5G and 6G networks and suggests future directions for overcoming these obstacles.

Accurate wireless channel estimation (CE) is essential for vehicular communication networks, where high mobility poses significant challenges. Deep Learning (DL) enhanced Data-pilot-aided (DPA) techniques improve CE by employing channel prediction through Recurrent Neural networks (RNNs) using past channel estimates. However, existing RNN-based CE methods rely solely on previous estimates, neglecting the useful information in current pilots. To address this limitation, we propose the Pilot-Enhanced RNN-Aided DPA (PERA-DPA) scheme, which integrates current and previous pilot estimates to better capture dynamic channel variations. Using a Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) network, PERA-DPA achieves superior estimation accuracy in high-mobility environments. Simulations show that PERA-DPA outperforms GRU-DPA-TA with a 2 dB SNR gain at a BER of 10 −4 . Implementation on an ARM Cortex A9 processor demonstrates that this performance improvement comes at only a 4% increase in computational latency, making PERA-DPA a promising solution for channel estimation in vehicular systems under high-mobility conditions.

this study explores integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) in the airborne domain, utilizing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) as dual-function communication base stations and radars. We propose a comprehensive methodology for jointly optimizing communication and sensing performances through optimized UAV trajectory design and energy-aware operations within scenarios containing multiple charging stations. Our approach used a multi-stage trajectory design with real-time battery management and Sequential Quadratic Programming based optimization. the average communication data rate and Cramer-Rao bound of mean-square error are considered for deriving communication and sensing performance of optimized trajectories. We formulate a normalized tradeoff objective as a weighted sum optimization problem. An iterative algorithm obtains locally optimal UAV trajectories. Numerical results demonstrate how UAV paths are determined by the balance between communication and sensing objectives and energy constraints. Comparisons with single-function UAV scenarios highlight improvements in overall mission efficiency, showcasing the benefits of the ISAC-based approach.

PyBlkSim is a block-based simulator developed for discrete-time simulations. PyBlkSim is useful for simulating a wide range of real-world discrete-time systems including systems belonging to signal processing and communications domains. PyBlkSim is written in Python and built using Python’s discreteevent simulation library, SimPy. PyBlkSim blocks use popular Python libraries such as NumPy and SciPy, which have been tried and tested extensively for various scientific computing applications. In its current form, PyBlkSim supports several blocks, ranging from different signal sources and sinks to filters, math, and signal operations. the simulator and its accompanying blocks are open-sourced, allowing developers to edit and extend the code to suit their needs. PyBlkSim differs from its counterparts, such as GNU Radio and Simulink, in that it is open-source, supports multiple operating systems, and can natively incorporate Python scientific libraries in its blocks. In this paper, we discuss the need for PyBlkSim, its design framework, the structure of its blocks and the characterization of its performance. As an example, we also demonstrate the use of PyBlkSim to simulate an On-Off Keying (OOK) modulation and demodulation scheme.

In recent times, the world is becoming a global village where connectivity is a new norm irrespective of geographical location. Within corporate networks, huge setbacks are faced due to a lack of efficient resource management. Load balancing is inevitable to cater to a reliable, faster, and congestion-free communication experience for exponentially increasing online enterprises. Dynamic network resource management for high performance and low data transmission latency in a network is necessary. the major issue faced by the traditional network is that it relies on static hardware switches. Software-Defined Network approaches paved a way to overcome the limitations of traditional networks. this research proposes the Dynamic Load Balancing Algorithm for Software-Defined networks to utilize network resources optimally. the major function of the proposed algorithm is to determine alternative paths and further distribute the incoming and outgoing network flows to achieve optimum network resource utilization with faster traffic flow completion. the experiment is performed with the OpenDayLight Controller on the Mininet simulator, which emulates the network with the novel scheme. the results prove that the proposed solution has accomplished the benchmarks of optimum throughput, reduced redundancy, and reduced flow completion time.

Eye gestures are widely used in many applications, including device control, biometrics, visual analytics, and health-care, like Alzheimer’s, accessibility, etc. the conventional method for eye gesture detection needs visual information processing devices or smart glasses to capture the movement patterns of the eyeballs. In this paper, we present a novel framework that utilizes inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensors embedded in earable devices for real-time eye gesture detection, which can work as a complementary to visual information processing devices. the framework translates specific eye movements into actionable commands, enabling hands-free interaction for users with limited mobility. through extensive experimentation with 14 participants across diverse activities such as sitting, walking, running, and driving, the framework demonstrated high accuracy in eye gesture recognition, achieving a macro F1 score of 0.85 on our self-collected dataset.

In corporate settings, conferences, or classrooms, an orator relies on manual slide transitions, which can disrupt their presentation flow. Presentation devices can be inaccessible due to the physical limitations of individuals, reducing engagement with the audience. Traditionally used remote-controlled wireless presenters are hand-held devices that usually require a compatible connector slot for the presentation device and partially engage one hand of the orator. To ease the hand-free presentation of slides, we introduce SlidEar, a voice-assisted smart slide supervision successfully tested on eSense in-ear wearables. SlidEar leverages voice recognition fusion with wearable sensors to facilitate seamless slide operations. It allows real-time feedback on natural language commands during the presentation of slides. Compared with conventional methods, SlidEar enhances engagement and accessibility through hand-free in-ear placement and helps the orator focus on delivering their content without any disruption or distraction. the evaluation shows promising results that improve the presentation experience profusion. SlidEar significantly reduces errors and can be widely adopted in diverse presentation scenarios.
