this paper presents a novel method for efficient semiautomatic multi-label segmentation of plant biological image data. the approach extends live-wire methods in order to facilitate exact user-steered segmentations for atlas generation. By integrating a segmentation-specific user interaction model into the live-wire formulation i) more exact segmentations, ii) increased computational efficiency, iii) without loss of generality are achieved. the concept of Mutual influence of image feature based path costs and user input uncertainty are consistently combined. By incorporating user behavior into cost based delineation a more intuitive user interface is obtained also yielding in a more accurate segmentation. We introduce path-based methodologies, specific user interaction models and propose the combination of both of them. the purposefulness of the method is shown in ail application comprising segmentation of histological section data Supporting the generation of 3-D atlases.

At the convergence of computervision, graphics, and multimedia, the emerging 3D video technology promises immersive experiences in a truly seamless environment. However, the requirements of huge network bandwidth and computing resources make it still a big challenge to render 3D video on mobile devices at real-time. In this paper, we present how remote rendering framework can be used to solve the problem. the differences between dynamic 3D video and static graphic models are analyzed. A general proxy-based framework is presented to render 3D video streams on the proxy and transmit the rendered scene to mobile devices over a wireless network. An image-based approach is proposed to enhance 3D interactivity and reduce the interaction delay. Experiments prove that the remote rendering framework can be effectively used for quality 3D video rendering on mobile devices in real time. Copyright 2009 ACM.

Withthe explosive growth of Web and the recent development in digital media technology, the number of images on the Web has grown tremendously. Consequently, Web image clustering has emerged as an important application. Some of the initial efforts along this direction revolved around clustering Web images based on the visual features of images or textual features by making use of the text surrounding the images. However, not much work has been done in using multimodal information for clustering Web images. In this paper, we propose a graph theoretical framework for simultaneously integrating visual and textual features for efficient Web image clustering. Specifically, we model visual features, images and words from surrounding text using a tripartite graph. Partitioning this graph leads to clustering of the Web images. Although, graph partitioning approach has been adopted before, the main contribution of this work lies in a new algorithm that we propose - Consistent Isoperimetric High-order Co-clustering (CIHC), for partitioning the tripartite graph. Computationally, CIHC is very quick as it requires a simple solution to a sparse system of linear equations. Our theoretical analysis and extensive experiments performed on real Web images demonstrate the performance of CIHC in terms of the quality, efficiency and scalability in partitioning the visual feature-image-word tripartite graph.
