In recent years, the use of energy harvesting (EH) sensors has led to the proposal of activity sensing systems that are easy to install and do not require maintenance such as battery replacement. In this study, we aim to construct a system that can not only sense but also recognize activities of daily living (ADLs) using only power generated by EH sensors. To achieve this goal, in this paper, we propose a fully EH-based ADL recognition system called Batterfly, which consists of EH analog PIR sensor nodes that can operate with indoor light, continuously senses human movement, and recognizes daily activities through machine learning. We applied the distributed execution method of the activity recognition model with five sensor nodes to five types of activities by five participants, and found that the system could recognize them with an average accuracy of 63.59%, comparable to the performance of the centralized model running on a gateway.

this study proposes a bipolar model for resolving multiple criteria decision-making (MCDM) problems, based on the integration of rough set theory and three-way decisions, for forming a hybrid bipolar model. It begins by dividing a decision space into three disjoint regions: negative, neutral, and positive states;in the next, a rough set theory based rule induction mechanism generates two sets of rules associated withthe positive and the negative states respectively, termed as the positive and the negative rules. the two groups of rules are regarded the bipolar rough experience (knowledge) in the form of rules and granulized knowledge, and decision makers can then define a threshold to select the covered number of rules in the bipolar decision model. this novel approach not only supports decision makers to select or rank alternatives, but also identify rough knowledge for the addressed problem. As a result, this novel bipolar model transforms soft computing analytics into a comprehensible bipolar model for decision aids.

In this study, we analyzed the transition of the internal states of the circuit of rat hippocampal neurons cultured on a multi-electrodes-array-dish. We analyzed transition of center of gravity and 64-dimensional feature-vectors of electrical activity patterns. Electrical activity pattern at a certain 5-ms-width-time-window was represented as a 64 dimensional "0-1" feature vector, and analyzed the stability. We confirmed that the reproducibility of the neuronal network activity increased during culture days. In addition, we applied similarity analysis to 64-dimensional feature vectors of neuronal activity. Using X-means algorithm, feature vectors were classified into "pattern repertories" based on the spatial distribution of activity.

the sixth generation wireless communication networks (6G) are anticipated to bring a disruptive innovation on multiple scenarios, where deep edge networks (DENs) turn into a vital network structure on vertical industrial paradigms, including the combination of communication, computing and caching (3C). In this paper, we present the DENs scene to facilitate the deep convergence of computing and communication resources. More specifically, we formulate the optimization problem in terms of energy consumption and latency in order to minimize the total agents overhead. At the same time, for the sake of executing tasks and alleviating interference among different edge networks and high-dynamic network environments, we propose a CPU cycle frequency aided multi-agent deep deterministic policy gradient (C-MADDPG) algorithm framework to optimize the task scheduling, transmission power, CPU cycle frequency and mutual interference from multiple channels to obtain the optimal overhead. Finally, extensive simulation and experimental results demonstrate that our proposed C-MADDPG algorithm has better performance gain in term of execution overhead for different network parameters.

this paper considers the multiobjective orientation and velocity control of two robots cooperatively carrying an object in completing a convex wall-following task. Fuzzy controllers (FCs) found through a two-stage learning approach is used. the first stage finds FCs that control a single (leader) robot in executing the wall-following task withthe two objectives of accurately moving along the wall boundary and moving with a high speed. Based on the FC in stage one, the second stage finds an auxiliary FC to control a follower robot so that the leader and follower robots can cooperatively carry an object in executing the wall-following task. the FC in each stage is optimized through the multiobjective front-guided continuous ant-colony optimization (MO-FCACO) algorithm. Simulations of evolutionary fuzzy control of a single robot and two cooperative robots for wall following are performed to show the control result.

Withthe diversified development of the digital devices, such as computer, mobile phone, pad and television, how to resize an image or video to adapt to different display screens has been attracting more and more peoples' attention. Seam carving has been an important method for image resizing. If multiple removed or inserted seams are located within a certain region, it can lead to discontinuity image content. Besides, the salient objects tend to be destroyed if the energy function only contains the gradient information. therefore, we propose an accumulative energy based seam carving method for image resizing. When removing a certain seam, we distribute the energy of each pixel on the seam to its adjacent 8-connected pixels in order to avoid the extreme concentration of seams, especially within a texture region. In addition, we add the image saliency and the edge information into the energy function to reduce the distortion. Since the computational complexity of seam carving method is very high, we use parallel computing environment to achieve efficient computation. Experimental results show that compared withthe existing methods, our method can both avoid the discontinuity of image content and distortions as well as better maintain the shape of the salient objects.
