Agent-based simulation models are an increasingly popular tool for research and management in many, different and diverse fields. In executing such simulations the "speed" is one of the most general and important issues. the traditional answer to this issue is to invest resources in deploying a dedicated installation of dedicated computers. In this paper we present a framework that is a parallel version of the MASON, a library for writing and running Agent-based simulations.

We present a new kind of mobile ad hoe application, which we call Mobile Profile based, distributed Grouping (MPDG), which is a combination of mobile clustering and data clustering. In MPDG each mobile host is endowed with a user profile and while the users move around, hosts with similar profiles are to be found and a robust mobile group is formed. the members of a group are able to cooperate or attain a goal together. In this paper MPDG is defined and it is compared with related approaches. Furthermore, a modular architecture and algorithms are presented to build arbitrary MPDG applications.

Monte-Carlo Tree Search (MCTS) is a simulation-based search method that brought about great success to applications such as Computer-Go in the past few years. the power of MCTS strongly depends on the number of simulations computed per time unit and the amount of memory available to store data gathered during simulation. High-performance computingsystems such as large compute clusters provide vast computation and memory resources and thus seem to be natural targets for running MCTS. However, so far only few publications deal withparallelizing MCTS for distributed memory machines. In this paper, we present a novel approach for the parallelization of MCTS which allows for an equally distributed spreading of boththe work and memory load among all compute nodes within a distributed memory HPC system. We describe our approach termed UCT-Treesplit and evaluate its performance on the example of a state-of-the-art Go engine.

Load balancing algorithms play a challenging, complicated, and important role in the performance of computational Grid systems. In this paper, we present a decentralized adaptive load balancing algorithm with use of cellular automata, named LBA_CA. Each computing node in the Grid system is modeled as a cell of proposed cellular automata and can be in four states. Cellular automata (abbreviated to CA) are used for designing a load balancing algorithm for computational Grids because of its distributed and dynamic manner. In addition, such natural properties of CA make LBA_CA an appropriate local load balancing algorithm for each cluster of computational Grids. Due to resource heterogeneity and communication overheads exist in computational Grid systems;we take account of several issues in LBA_CA such as processing power of computing nodes and communication latency. the main goal of our algorithm is to reduce the average response time of arrival jobs. the performance of our algorithm is evaluated in terms of several metrics including the average response time of jobs, processor utilization, percent of executed jobs, and average Off time in relation to considerable variations in transition time, service time, and number of jobs.

CoreGRID is a European research Network of Excellence (NoE) that was initiated in 2004 as part of the EU FP6 research framework and run up to 2008. CoreGRID partners, from 44 different countries, developed theoretical foundations and software infrastructures for large-scale, distributed Grid and P2P applications. An ERCIM sponsored CoreGRID Working Group was established to ensure the continuity of the CoreGrid programme after the official end of NoE. the working group extended its interests to include the emerging field of (service based) cloud computing which is of great importance to the European software industry. Its main goals consist in i) sustaining the operation of the CoreGRID Network, ii) establishing a forum to encourage collaboration between the Grid and P2P computing research communities, and (iii) encourage research on the role of cloud computing as a new paradigm for distributedcomputing in e-Science.
