systems involving multiple processes are often most easily programmed using critical regions. Mutual exclusion is the dilemma of assurance that certain portions of program code are executed within the critical regions, where no two programs are permitted to be in critical regions at the same time. So, arranging mutual exclusion plays a significant role in the domain of both centralized and distributed systems. Unfortunately, all the three basic approaches - centralized, distributed and token ring proposed for achieving mutual exclusion in distributed systems are said to be good for distributed systems in some abstract way only. In this paper, we have presented a ring-based algorithm for arranging mutual exclusion in distributed systems. We have compared the conventional algorithms with the algorithm presented in this paper and shown that our algorithm is more fault-tolerant than all the traditional algorithms and requires less number of message-passing with reduced amount of load on coordinator.

In this paper, we formulate a real-world Facility Layout Problem as a constraint satisfaction problem and propose a new method with a genetic algorithm. the created layout should reflect the desires of the users of the facility such as individuality, intuition, comfortableness, and convenience. We employed a GA using Levy Flights as basis for an improved mutation operator and used an island model GA with different decoding methods for each island. the experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Arabic letters have unique characteristics because of similarity of sound produced when reciting few letters. this paper present one of application Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) in speech recognition Arabic letters. CNN has shown very good performance for image and speech recognition int the last few years. this study examined the several types of CNN models as well as compare with some Deep Neural Network (DNN) models to speech datasets used. As a result, CNN with a convolution layer and one layer fully-connected managed to obtain an accuracy of up to 80.75%, far better than the traditional DNN that only able to reach 72.0%.

For large installations of networked embedded systems it is important that each entity is self-stabilizing, because usually there is nobody to restart nodes that have hung up. Self-stabilization means to recover from temporary failures (soft errors) and adapt to a change of network topology caused by permanent failures. On the software side self-stabilizing algorithms must assume that the hardware is executing the software correctly. In this paper we discuss cases in which soft errors invalidate this assumption, especially in cases where CPU registers or the watchdog timer are affected by the fault. Based on the observation that a guaranteed self-stabilization is only possible as long as the watchdog-timer is working properly after temporary failures, we propose and compare three different approaches that meet the requirements of sensor networks, to solve this problem with a combination of hardware-and software-modifications: 1) A run-time verification of every watchdog access 2) A completely hardware-based approach, without any software modifications 3) A 2(X) byte code alignment, to realign a corrupted program counter Furthermore we determine the average code-size increase and evaluate necessary hardware-modifications that come along with each approach.

the paper proposes a new approach to multicriteria optimization of the structure of secure information interaction in distributed computing systems. A distinguishing feature of the approach is the use of the sequential concessions method. this approach provides the acceptable flexibility in comparing the system construction variants by taking into account not only the priority of the system according to efficiency indicators, but also the relationships of the indicators. the mathematical basis of the proposed method is considered. the procedure of implementation of the proposed method for ensuring security of information interaction in a distributed hierarchical automated control system is demonstrated, and its experimental assessment is given.

Human Machine Interface demands the communicative propriety that would be applied in various linguistic tasks. In this research, we develop an intelligent 'chat bot', which generates conversational sentences via recurrent neural network and its coupled memory unit, long short-term memory (LSTM). Word strings in conversations are considered as time series data. Using a single neural network model that performs a simple task of outputting the next word from the preceding word, a conversational sentence can be generated by connecting the words. In the experiment, we performed the linguistic 'Turning Test' to evaluate the proposed system.

this paper presents a design of a reconfigurable parallel prefix computation hardware on FPGAs. the design is based on a pipelined dataflow algorithm, and control logics are added to reconfigure the system for the arbitrary parallelism degree. the design receives multiple input streams of elements in parallel, and produces output streams in parallel. the design has the great advantage of controlling the degree of parallelism explicitly at run time. Time complexity of the design is O(d + (N-d) / d), where d and N are parallelism degree and stream size, respectively. When the stream size is very big, the initial trigger time d in the time complexity can be ignored and we get O(N/d). Unlike the software parallel prefix algorithms, the design works for both known and unknown sized data. the design is implemented and tested for target devices Xilinx Spartan2S XC2S300EFT256-6Q and XC2S600EFG676-6.

We have developed a network (called TPNET) which is adaptable for any parallel processing systems. It consists of several core processors and a router. A process element in a parallel processing system is a processor called TPCORE2, which has been developed by the authors' group. Since this core processor can execute full set of the transputer instruction set, we can describe a software system using the parallel processing language occam. Occam is based on theoretically a model called Communicating Sequential Processes (CSP). If a parallel system can be described in occam language, and work fine, it will be regarded as free from any deadlocks or livelocks which will be intrinsically hidden in a parallel system. We can construct simply a secure parallel processing system in this way. Each processor can be connected to a router, and we can achieve a dynamic configuration of the network topology by controlling the router. the basic communication protocol in TPNET is IEEE 1355. An assured and efficient network can be constructed despite the structural simplicity of the protocol. With characteristics discussed above and with an efficient interrupt processing system in TPCORE2, we propose this TPNET as a basic framework for high performance embedded systems used widely in various industrial fields.

Two of the main characteristics of computation grids are their heterogeneity and the sharing of resources between different users. this is the cost of the tremendous computing power offered by such platforms. Scheduling several applications concurrently in such an environment is thus challenging. In this paper we propose a first step towards the scheduling of multiple parallel task graphs (PTG), a class of applications that can benefit of large and powerful platforms, by focusing on the allocation process. We consider the application of a resource constraint on the schedule and determine the number of processors allocated to the different tasks of a PTG while respecting that constraint. We present two different allocation procedures and validate them in simulation over a wide range of scenarios with regard to their respect of the resource constraint and their impact on the completion time of the scheduled applications. We find that our procedures provide a guarantee on the resource usage for a low cost in terms of execution time.

In this work, we introduce slot selection and co-allocation algorithms for parallel jobs in distributed computing with non-dedicated and heterogeneous resources (clusters, CPU nodes equipped with multicore processors, networks etc.). A single slot is a time span that can be assigned to a task, which is a part of a parallel job. the job launch requires a co-allocation of a specified number of slots starting and finishing synchronously. the challenge is that slots associated with different heterogeneous resources of distributed computing environments may have arbitrary start and finish points, different performance, latency, pricing policies. Some existing algorithms assign a job to the first set of slots matching the resource request without any optimization (the first fit type), while other algorithms are based on an exhaustive search. In this paper, algorithms for efficient slot selection are studied and compared with known approaches. the novelty of the proposed approach is in a general algorithm selecting a set of slots efficiently according to the specified criterion.
