the oversampling sigma-delta based analog-to-digital converter and digital-to-analog converter (ADC/DAC) architecture can achieve high resolution with effective low hardware cost. It normally introduces latency due to the internal high-performance finite impulse response (FIR) digital filters. In this work, we proposed a novel approach to reduce latency and accurately predict latency caused by the group delay. We propose a filter structure applied to ADC, using the infinite impulse response (IIR) filter and half-band filter (HBF) to construct a hybrid half-band filter (HHBF). A novel modified Simulated Annealing (SA) algorithm is proposed to optimize the best distribution of passband ripple and transition bandwidth that is suitable for audio processing with low latency and computation cost. the experiments show that hybrid HBF proposed in this paper improves the efficiency of the filter in terms of filter cost and group delay comparing to traditional design.

the advancement of 5G technology and extensive usage of smart devices have led to a deluge of data. It is invaluable to analyze such big data by issuing queries to derive real-time business insights for better, smarter and fact-based decisions. Timely big data analytics are crucial in many service domains, thus the age of data (AoD) required by queries is emerging as a novel metric that measures the freshness of data and evaluates the quality of data analytics. Traditional big data analytics that are performed in remote clouds cannot satisfy the AoD requirements of queries, due to the congested core networks and long transmission latency between users and clouds. the technique of mobile edge computing (MEC) is expected to reduce the age and guarantee the timeliness of queries for big data analytics, by processing data at edge cloudlets close to users. In this paper, we investigate a problem of age-aware query evaluation for big data analytics in a mobile edge cloud network. We first formulate the problem with certain data processing latency as an Integer Linear Program (ILP). We then develop an online learning algorithm for the problem with uncertain data processing latency. We finally evaluate the performance of proposed algorithms against existing studies by simulations and testbed implementations. Evaluation results show that the proposed algorithms outperform existing works by achieving 20% lower AoD.

Digital image Correlation Method (DICM) is a non-contact deformation measurement method based on digital image processing technology and optical measurement methods. Because of its non-contact, high-precision, full-field and other advantages, it is widely used in civil engineering, aerospace and other fields. the whole-pixel correlation search method is a fast and high-precision deformation measurement method in DICM. this article first investigates the composition of the DIC measurement system, and studies the performance and unimodality of the shape function and related functions, and selects reasonable function model. Finally, the three whole-pixel search algorithms of point-by-point search method, hill-climbing method and differential evolution algorithm are experimentally analyzed. Finally, it is found that the performance of the hill-climbing method based on the zero mean normalized least square distance sum function is the best. © 2021 IEEE.

the CPU-FPGA heterogeneous architectures became an attractive option for developing hardware accelerators to process computer vision algorithms. In this paper, we improve the support for streaming processing on the Intel HARPv2 platform by proposing strategies such as data ordering, double buffer, and management of multiple memory addresses. We demonstrate the feasibility of this new strategy by a case study with a hardware implementation of the Semi-Global Matching (SGM) algorithm for stereo vision. With these strategies, we can process depth images with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels achieving a processing rate of about 48 FPS. the processing performance overcomes the state-of-art CPU-FPGA heterogeneous architectures results for processing of the promissing SGM technique.

Compared with traditional natural images, remote sensing images (RSIs) typically have high resolution. the objects in the images are densely distributed, with heterogeneous orientation and large scale variation, even among objects of the same class. In recent years, object detection algorithms have made great strides in general images, but they are still difficult to meet the challenges that exist in RSIs. therefore, we propose a foreground feature embedding network (FFE-Net) for object detection in RSIs. To better grasp the object features in RSIs, we design a foreground feature embedding module (FFEM) to learn the foreground features of the object. this is achieved by introducing an additional semantic segmentation branch and embedding the features in the classification and regression branches. Simultaneously, we propose a modified Gaussian function with focal loss (MGFFL) as a way to eliminate the extra background noise from soft labels, making the learned foreground features more robust. Our experimental results on two publicly available remote sensing image datasets, DOTA-v1.0 and HRSC2016, validate the effectiveness of FFE-Net. © 2024, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

A key challenge to sequence learning for video comprehension is objects detection and localization in dynamic and real-time environment. this paper presents two methodological approaches to autonomous and generic object detection and localization in video sequences. algorithms for both facial and non-facial object localization, as well as their integration, are developed. A set of experiments and case studies for practical video image processing is demonstrated for sequence learning. this work paves a way to sequence learning towards enhanced computer and robot vision technologies in applications of self-driving cars and real-time facial recognition.

In this paper, an improved FCM clustering algorithm is proposed. Unlike a traditional FCM clustering algorithm whose convergence is sensitive to its initial parameters, the proposed algorithm based on fuzzy decision theory can automatically and adaptively select these parameters with optimal values. the simulation results indicate that the modified algorithm not only overcomes the ill phenomena of the FCM algorithms available now, but also is robust to the selection of the weighting constants.

Object detection in modalities such as synthetic aperture sonar (SAS) is affected by the difficulty of acquiring a large number of training samples. If object classes not present in the training dataset are detected during testing, they can be mis-classified as one of the training classes. this increases overall false alarm rate and affects operator reliability and trust in the detection algorithm. Previous work showed that classification algorithms are often overconfident in their predictions and hence cannot reliably flag image regions about which the algorithm is uncertain or which need further sampling or processing. this paper describes object detectors based on SVMs and Gaussian Processes for SAS imagery, followed by probabilistic calibration of detector confidence scores. the entropy or uncertainty of these scores is then used to identify low-confidence regions and indicate the presence of previously unseen or anomalous objects.

Ride-sharing has been widely used in many cities, such as Didi and Uber. Ride-sharing is regarded as an effective way to solve urban traffic congestion and pollution. However, most of the existing dispatch methods take the minimization of the travel distance as the optimization goal, without considering other factors. In this paper, we consider not only detour distance, but also consider seat utilization, future profit, and hidden profit. Firstly, we propose a deep evaluation network to evaluate factors that affect vehicle dispatch, and we exploit the reinforcement learning strategy to train the deep evaluation network. then, we propose the dynamic external factor calculation (DEFC) algorithm to calculate those factors. Secondly, to calculate the driver's future profit, we propose a prediction model based on the K-Nearest Neighbor(KNN) to predict the number of passengers and vehicles. thirdly, we use a vehicle search method to search vehicles that satisfy passenger spatial-temporal constraint. Based on a real-world dataset in Rome, we evaluate our algorithm to confirm the effectiveness of our method.

the space-terrestrial information network integrates the characteristics of satellite networks and terrestrial networks and can support diversified space network requirements, which has also become a new trend in future network development. In the process of coordinated transmitting between space and terrestrial, satellite may generate a data flow with a set of tasks to be processed while transmitting. Because of the dynamic changes in the links between nodes in the satellite network, how to effectively place the tasks will be huge challenges. In this paper, we considere the traffic changes brought about by task processing, the effectiveness of links, and combined with the operation laws of satellite network and have studied the placement of tasks in dynamic transmitting and processing scenarios. First, we formulate the Task Placement In Dynamic Transmitting-processing (TPDTP) problem, and then divide the problem into three parts: flow path selection, task allocation between planes, and task placement within plane. For flow path selection, we proposed the Waiting-Time Reducing Path Select (WTRPS) algorithm. For the task allocation problem between planes, we proposed the Time-Constrained Task Placement (TCTP) algorithm and Waiting-Time Utilization Task Placement(WTUTP) algorithm. Finally, we propose Intra-plane Task Placement (IPTP) algorithm to solve the problem of task placement within plane which comprehensive consider the changes in traffic rate and the processing performance of nodes. We evaluate the proposed algorithms using simulations and present evaluation results to show the effectiveness of our design.
