Sand painting conversion based on detail preservation

Sand painting is a significant form of artistic expression. It is necessary to convert real photographs into sand painting style automatically. However, current methods for creating artwork mostly concentrate on oil painting, watercolor painting, and other fields, with little involvement in sand painting. In this paper, we propose a sand painting conversion algorithm that aims to create a unique art style while preserving details. Our Sand Painting Conversion (SPC) method consists of two primary processes: coarse waving for the whole image and detail preservation for specific parts. the former process involves parameter optimization to render the entire image and obtain preliminary sand painting results. the latter process comprises three parts: detail painting based on sand reduction, refined waving for inhomogeneous areas, and edge detail processing based on multi-technique selection, in order to achieve detail preservation from a source image to the sand painting style. Our SPC can generate a series of realistic sand painting works without any user intervention. Comparative experiments and user feedback have revealed the effectiveness and superiority of our algorithm in converting natural images into high-quality and realistic sand painting style images. three-dimensional cad (computer aided design) software can be used to analyze phenomena related to movement such as vibration and friction. But this requires knowledge for handling material properties and uses special three-dimensional cad functionality. For these reasons, analysis based on three-dimensional cad of phenomena is greatly influenced by skill level in model design and enormous time if required due to processing of analysis. therefore, it is difficult to treat as an auxiliary tool for analysis. Also, various software exist as three-dimensional cad, but each software varies in method of use. In addition, automatically obtained finite element mesh data in analysis differs depending on software. therefore, even with the same model, it is difficult to analyze under the same conditions and to obtain the same result [14]. In this paper, we will study the method for analyzing the lubrication phenomena. From this study we will propose a method easy even for beginners, and show that the analysis method is simple and quick and reduces the burden on the designer. © 2019, Springer international Publishing AG, part of Springer Nature.

Occluded person re-identification (ReID) is a challenging computer vision task in which the goal is to identify specific pedestrians in occluded scenes across different devices. Some existing methods mainly focus on developing effective data augmentation and representation learning techniques to improve the performance of person ReID systems. However, existing data augmentation strategies can not make full use of the information in the training data to accurately simulate the occlusion scenario, resulting in poor generalization ability. Additionally, recent Vision Transformer (ViT)-based methods have been shown beneficial for addressing occluded person ReID as they have powerful representation learning ability, but they always ignore the information fusion between different levels of features. To alleviate these two issues, an improved ViT-based framework called Parallel Dense Vision Transformer and Augmentation Network (PDANet) is proposed to extract well and robustly features. We first design a parallel data augmentation strategy based on random stripe erasure to enrich the diversity of input sample for better cover real scenes through various processing methods, and improve the generalization ability of the model by learning the relationship between these different samples. We then develop a Densely Connected Vision Transformer (DCViT) module for feature encoding, which strengthens the feature propagation and improves the effectiveness of learning by establishing connections between different layers. Experimental results demonstrate the proposed method outperforms the existing methods on both the occluded person and the holistic person ReID benchmarks.

One of its subsystems, MONDRIAN, automatically generates a layout for a data flow diagram from the requirements specifications stored in a database. Another subsystem, DEPICT, allows the analyst to create or modify both data flow diagrams and requirements specifications in an interactive graphic environment. the paper focuses on the design of the graphics database to support both subsystems.

Subdivision surfaces are an established modeling tool in computer graphics and computer-aided design. While the theoretical foundations of subdivision surfaces are well studied, the correlation between a control mesh and its subdivided limit surface still has some open-ended questions: Which topology should a control mesh have? Where should control vertices be placed? A modeler - human or software - is confronted with these questions and has to answer them. In this paper we analyze four characteristic situations. Each one consists of an analytical reference surface S and several variants of control meshes C-i. In order to concentrate on the topology of the control meshes, the geometrical positions of their control vertices have been determined and optimized automatically. As a result we identified the best topology of all C-i to represent the given surface S. Based on these results we derived heuristics to model with subdivision surfaces. these heuristics are beneficial for all modelers.
