this article emphasizes the challenges faced by manufacturers in meeting customer demands for complex products while maintaining cost efficiency and operational flexibility. It argues for a shift towards integrated product and production system development to address these system complexities. Traditionally, product development and production planning have been siloed functions, leading to inefficiencies and issues like extended lead times and cost overruns. the concept of Product-Production-CoDesign (PPCD) was introduced to address this issue and identifies increasing system complexity as a major challenge in future manufacturing, with a lack of support from Model-Based Systems engineering (MBSE) methods. this paper presents an activity-based MBSE methodology to support seamless coordination between product design and production processes. Relevant modeling activities from industrial practice are identified and arranged in a framework. Subsequently, views are developed that enable model-based support in the execution of the activities. Finally, the identified activities and views are implemented using the real example of a production system in the automotive sector.

In this paper, we take a different angle to evaluate compiler optimizations than all existing works in compiler testing literature. In particular, we consider a specific scenario in software development, that is, when developers manually optimize a program to improve its performance, do compilers actually generate more efficient code withthe help of developers' optimizations? To answer this question, we develop a simple approach which consists of (1) deoptimizing a program into a less efficient version of the original program, and then (2) comparing the performance of the generated code from each version of the source code. We realize this approach into a tool, called de3 (detect defects with deoptimizations), and use it to evaluate GCC and LLVM, two state-of-the-art, industry compilers. We observe that the extra optimizations presented in the original programs can be not only unhelpful, but more seriously counterproductive to both GCC and LLVM, resulting in the less efficient code generated overall. Out of our evaluation results, we summarized and reported 53 LLVM and 18 GCC defects, out of which 37 and 17 have been confirmed or fixed. Our work pioneers a new pathway for evaluating compiler optimizations. More importantly, we expect our work to inspire new design principles for compiler development.

In recent years, DevOps, the unification of development and operation workflows, has become a trend for the industrial software development lifecycle. Security activities turned into an essential field of application for DevOps principles as they are a fundamental part of secure software development in the industry. A common practice arising from this trend is the automation of security tests that analyze a software product from several perspectives. To effectively improve the security of the analyzed product, the identified security findings must be managed and looped back to the project team for stakeholders to take action. this management must cope with several challenges ranging from low data quality to a consistent prioritization of findings while following DevOps aims. To manage security findings withthe same efficiency as other activities in DevOps projects, a methodology for the management of industrial security findings minding DevOps principles is essential. In this paper, we propose a methodology for the management of security findings in industrial DevOps projects, summarizing our research in this domain and presenting the resulting artifact. As an instance of the methodology, we developed the Security Flama, a semantic knowledge base for the automated management of security findings. To analyze the impact of our methodology on industrial practice, we performed a case study on two DevOps projects of a multinational industrial enterprise. the results emphasize the importance of using such an automated methodology in industrial DevOps projects, confirm our approach's usefulness and positive impact on the studied projects, and identify the communication strategy as a crucial factor for usability in practice.
