Blockchains are used in many software systems to deal with trusted storage. the selection of the appropriate software architecture stack in distributed systems is generally driven by scalability, security, and decentralization as central qualities. In the blockchain domain, these are known as the blockchain trilemma, as they oppose each other. We select the most popular blockchain platforms based on these trilemma properties and other indicators to provide a platform review. Specific metrics will be derived from the overall goals and applied to the platform options. this serves as a basis to create a Selection framework to facilitate the choice of the best possible platform for a given system architecture. the selection framework is evaluated through a use case.

this paper is about integration of model representations to serve integrated research in applied informatics and applied mathematics. Integration was one of main areas in the engineering purposed software development in a comprehensive effort to serve rushing development of high level automation technologies in aircraft and other leading industries during the past decades. By now, integration of formerly separated model representations provides wide and comprehensive collection of modeling, simulation, organizing, and communication means in in high level multidisciplinary and multiphysical scenario of engineering modeling platform (EMP). this paper focuses on the Virtual Research Laboratory (VRL) where a suitable EMP configuration serves as an all-in-one laboratory for scientific-industrial research. It introduces some of the recent research results in this unusual application of EMP among others the experimental model of research (EMR) which is an all-in-one representation of a research and utilizes services available at a world level EMP. the multidisciplinary and multiphysical EMR is central issue in PhD research program at VRL. Active knowledge background empowers the reactive and autonomous characteristics of EMR. Actual issues at EMP based implementation of EMR at VRL are also discussed in this paper.

To assess in a constructively aligned way those programming competences that are relevant for the professional practice of future software developers, an assessment format would be suitable where students actively program, within the integrated development environment (IDE) that they are individually used to, and with unrestricted access for researching in the web. A format that accommodates these needs well is "Bring Your Own Device, Open Book, Open Web", where students work on their own devices against given git repositories, with full access on knowledge bases and the internet. In this work, we share experiences and suggest well established practices for executing this exam type. As well, we discuss how the ready availability of large language models impacts this assessment type.

System engineering has been integral to some of mankind's greatest achievements in the 20th Century from launching astronauts into space to building some of the most intricately designed and built systems ever devised. However large-scale systems acquisition has often struggled conceptually with being responsive to change. Often this stems from engineering following a defined process focused on solving the challenges presented to them and devising an end-product(s) that meets specifications. this paper draws parallels from the challenges faced by businesses to stay relevant in a forever-changing dynamic business environment to glean lessons for defence acquisition. We suggest exploring circular systems engineering ecosystems to address the needs of stakeholders seeking to create future-proof complex adaptive systems and products that must operate in uncertain environments. the main goals here are to address the inherent uncertainty and improve stakeholder value.

Sentiment analysis for softwareengineering(SA4SE) is a research domain with huge potential, with applications ranging from monitoring the emotional state of developers throughout a project to deciphering user feedback. there exist two main approaches to sentiment analysis for this purpose: a lexicon-based approach and a machine learning-based approach. Extensive research has been conducted on the former;hence this work explores the efficacy of the ML-based approach through an LSTM model for classifying the sentiment of the text. three different data sets, StackOverflow, JIRA, and AppReviews, have been used to ensure consistent performance across multiple applications of sentiment analysis. this work aims to analyze how LSTM models perform sentiment prediction across various kinds of textual content produced in the softwareengineering industry to improve the predictive ability of the existing state-of-the-art models.

Code smells indicate weaknesses in software design that may slow down development or increase the risk of bugs or failures in the future. this paper aims to investigate the correlation of code smells with defects within classes. the method used uses a tool to automatically detect code smells in selected projects and then assesses the correlation of these to the number of defects found in the code. Most existing articles determine that software modules/classes with more smells tend to have more defects. However, while the experiments in this paper covering a range of languages agreed withthis, the correlation was found to be weak. there remains a need for further investigation of the types of code smells that tend to indicate or predict defects occurring. Future work will perform more detailed experiments by investigating a larger quantity and variety of software systems as well as more granular studies into types of code smell and defects arising.

Complex engineering projects (CEP) delivered by alliance is a form of system of systems with intricate interactions and are inevitably plagued with diverse risks. this research adopts the system modeling approach to develop an alliance risk ontology framework, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method for alliance risk extraction, and NVivo qualitative analysis for data analytics and risk visualization. the research developed the System of Systems (SOS) alliance risk ontology framework and found two hundred and seven alliance risks from interactions of systems. Research provides the fundamental framework for risk categorization, analytical depth, and data treatment method, which can be significant to pre-analyze and mitigate critical risks in engineering projects involving alliances.

Achieving effective power sharing among paralleled power converters is challenging due to diverse component technologies, environmental conditions, diode working points, parasitic parameters, and component tolerances. these disparities can lead to uneven thermal stress and aging, negatively impacting component lifetime and reliability. To address these issues, this paper introduces a novel modulation strategy for parallel dual-output phase-shift full-bridge converters. this software-based power-sharing control technique leverages MOSFET control and allows power transfer from a parallel connected diode-bridge to the active-bridge on the secondary side of the converter providing an effective means to mitigate thermal stress. the approach can also enable a complete shutdown of the diode-bridge. Detailed analytical developments of the proposed technique are presented and validated numerically.
