Innumerable firms are extensively integrating state-of-the-art ICT to boost the competitiveness of the organizations in all aspects. Simultaneously, the unprecedented availability of UC networks and mobile devices are exponentially growing. Unfortunately, based on the current voluminous computer crime incidents, the ICT deployments under UC infrastructures might jeopardize the organizations if they ignore the imminent necessity of DF in their homogeneous/heterogeneous ISs. Most enterprises are dearth of vigilance concerning the above issues although they might be aware that the salient and stringent computer crimes are capable of devastating the company's intangible assets silently. Vandalism of intellectual property or conducting industrial espionage for the valuable assets via trustworthy UC networks becomes an approaching menace. Hence, the DF plays an essential role in the information security arena. Demonstrably, there is no one DF suite can encompass all aspects or purposes due to the dynamic diversities of computer crimes in their natures. Interchangeably utilizing various DF tools is a decent approach to find the causes for the associate computer crimes and prevents the related information security incidents from occurring. At last, a DF scenario review utilizing the proposed ontology-driven model with respect to the UC environment was conducted and demonstrated.

Many hierarchical routing algorithms have been proposed to support routing in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). Hierarchical structures have been used to provide scalable solutions in many large networking systems (L. Kleinrock, et al., (1997)), (Z. Xu, et al., (1998)) that have been designed. Building a hierarchical ad hoc network is a very promising way to achieve scalability. Previous protocols have been focusing on the schemes of how to cluster and how to establish hierarchical structure on the lowest level. In this paper we extend existing schemes to help build more distributed and stable hierarchical structures. We present the design and implementation of an algorithm required for rapid self-organization of network into multiple levels. We utilize gateways between clusters to relive the storage and communication overhead of clusterhead. Since each node can only act as clusterhead in single level at most, independency of different levels is increased and overhead of critical nodes is reduced as a result. The new algorithm also provides some insight into new possible designs of routing protocols.

The architecture of the next generation of multimedia servers is influenced by (a) multimedia client-server applications, (b) multiple processors on a single board, (c) preservation of the current software investments, (c) and very high-speed and multimedia networking such as, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATI). Currently, servers are not designed for handling multimedia traffic inside and effectively delivering the high bandwidth of the network to the processor boards (where applications reside). Extending ATM into the server as the interconnect fabric and communication architecture is proposed as a feasible solution. Several server architectures using ATM as the system interconnect are proposed and their performance is evaluated by simulation using realistic traffic loads.

In this paper, we present the currently achieved results of our research goal: building an easy to use and powerful multimedia documents authoring environment, which provides high level of expressiveness and open document format. These results are concerned with both the time representation and the time management in our authoring system Madeus. In the first part of the paper, we describe the requirements that must be provided by a time representation of multimedia documents, the choice we made and a comparison with other existing approaches. In the second part, we describe the presentation lager of our system, and how it handles services such as dynamic formatting. Temporal Access Control operations and hyperlinks.

As distributed multimedia applications are starting to be offered as services in enterprise and residential cable networks, there is a growing interest in platforms that provide a standard framework for the development and deployment of these applications. Key issues in platform design are service diversity, service portability and interoperability of user terminal equipment, We propose a platform architecture for the provision of multimedia communication services which logically separates application processing from media processing. Applications are installed in application pools from where they control a set of communicating multimedia terminals. Application-specific intelligence is downloaded into the terminals in the form of Tcl/Tk or Java scripts that generate graphical user interfaces, control media processing components, and communicate with the application in the pool. The platform architecture is based on CORBA and is defined as an extensible set of IDL interfaces for control and stream interfaces for multimedia communication. The platform supports application development with high-level programming interfaces.

One of the key aspects of videos is the temporal relationship between video frames. In this paper we propose a tree-based model for specifying the temporal semantics of video data. We present a unique way of integrating our video model into an object database management system which has rich multimedia temporal operations. We further show how temporal histories are used to model video data, explore the video objectbase using object-oriented techniques. Such a seamless integration gives a uniform interface to end users. The integrated video objectbase management system supports a broad range of temporal queries.
