Several variants of analytical conversion of the Strejc model to the First-Order Time Delay (FOTD) model have been proposed. this conversion extends the applicability of control system design methods that are based on FOTD models. An example of applying the Ziegler-Nichols method to a control system with the Strejc model is presented. Additionally, the reverse operation - converting the FOTD model to the Strejc model - is also feasible and can be employed as a method for identifying the Strejc model. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

With the serious danger to nature and humanity that forest fires are, taken into consideration, this work aims to develop an artificial intelligence model capable of accurately predicting the forest fire risk in a certain region based on four different factors: temperature, wind speed, rain and humidity. thus, three models were created using three different approaches: Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), Random Forest (RF), and K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), and making use of an Algerian forest fire dataset. the ANN and RF both achieved high accuracy results of 97%, while the KNN achieved a slightly lower average of 91%. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Building automation systems, such as KNX, enable the acquisition and storage of device parameters, facilitating comprehensive measurement data collection. they combine various sensors, including PIR sensors for presence detection, with newer technologies such as high-frequency sensors, ultrasonic sensors and vision sensors equipped with artificial neural networks to enhance detection capabilities. these systems also use data archiving devices for comprehensive analysis, leading to insights into health, energy consumption and device performance. the analysis of electrical parameters enabled by KNX systems involves measuring the energy consumption of devices and then classifying them using artificial neural networks to optimize computational efficiency and improve identification accuracy. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

In the domain of crisis management for telecommunications infrastructures, the autonomous detection of cell outages within cellular networks is of paramount importance for prompt identification and resolution in ensuring uninterrupted connectivity to users. Traditional methods usually involve data aggregation at the core network, which is responsible for identifying cell failures. Proposing a novel approach, we leverage a Machine Learning-based distributed and cooperative feature removal mechanism in order to preserve the privacy of data and avoid any degradation in classification performance. Simulations carried out on a dataset retrieved from a real 4G-LTE rollout demonstrate that the proposed approach, through a cooperation among agents, maintains or even slightly improves accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score in outage prediction compared to other conventional methods, showcasing its efficacy for cell outage detection purposes while maintaining data privacy. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Smart water management imposes higher demands on the real-time capabilities and intelligence of watershed information monitoring systems. therefore, we propose an intelligent voice broadcast system for monitoring water information, aimed at achieving efficient and accurate dissemination of warning information. this system can be deployed and integrated into existing water information monitoring systems to enable real-time voice broadcasting of water-related information. To ensure the system's timeliness and effectiveness, we propose a Performance Optimization Mechanism for Data Processing, Priority control for voice broadcasting, a Content Optimization Mechanism, and a Timeliness control Mechanism. Comparative experiments demonstrate that the proposed intelligent voice broadcast system significantly enhance the efficiency and accuracy of water information dissemination, providing an innovative solution for real-time monitoring and early warning in water management.

Expert systems (ES) rely heavily on effective control mechanisms to navigate complex problem-solving tasks. these mechanisms govern how ES utilizes knowledge and data to make decisions and execute actions. Optimizing these mechanisms, or addressing the “control problem,” remains a central challenge. Blackboard architectures, with their separation of knowledge and control processes, offer a promising approach. this study introduces an improved control mechanism for blackboard architectures. It focuses on a critical aspect-trigger mechanisms and feasible conditions-for optimal knowledge source selection to participate in the problem-solving process. By leveraging these features, this study aims to enhance decision-making and problem-solving capabilities within complex domains. this paper focuses on the technical details of exploring how it manages the flow of rule activation and execution throughout the problem-solving process.

Widespread availability of ChatGPT has posed new challenges for teaching and learning. the paper examines whether and how the chat can be used to support teaching and self-learning in engineering and technical sciences domains. ChatGPT (version 3.5) was tested and assessed in a similar way as our students were. Different types of exams (exclusion tests, multiple choice tests, open questions) were carried out in two areas: control theory and metaheuristics. On average, the chat received quite good marks. However, it had a problem with questions that required detailed information and understanding of the subject. A number of conclusions have been drawn from the research. In general, AI can be helpful to teachers and students if used wisely. However, it must be emphasized that the use of the chat can not be uncritical, and almost all information should be carefully checked and validated, especially in engineering and technical sciences where precision and unambiguity are important. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

this project aimed to implement a prototype capable of real-time monitoring and control of various parameters in information management setting with Internet of things (IoT). Research methodology involved designing and implementing the system prototype to resemble a supply container or transportation truck with installed sensors controlled by a microcontroller. Main components used temperature sensors (AHT20), RFID reader for access control, GPS module for location tracking, and a web/mobile dashboard for remote monitoring. Additionally, a robust database system was developed to store sensor readings and transaction history, ensuring data integrity and facilitating seamless communication between components for real-time data transmission. Key findings indicate that the system effectively monitors temperature, manages access control through RFID authentication, tracks real-time location via GPS, and provides a user-friendly dashboard interface for data visualization.

Patients with transradial hand amputations have long been able to be fitted with myoelectric arm prostheses. the current state of technology offers users a range of highly developed mechanical and bionic hand prostheses with individually movable fingers. the control of such prostheses, however, is not intuitive, requires much training, and not all possible gestures can be performed. the reason for this is often cited as the number and quality of the myoelectric signals, the amount of training data, and resulting the achievable classification quality. Since the incremental improvement of our existing approach allowed only minor improvements, we experimented with new methods for classification and control. this contribution presents an integrated solution consisting of a smart sensor, individualized feature extraction, distributed classification, and inverse kinematics to control individual fingers. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

this paper describes the results of developing a PST5G-enabled robot driving and working function with automatic and remote control. this system is unique because it is mainly configured to use the cloud. All the processes for automatic robot control were reallocated to the cloud side, leaving only the minimum configuration on the edge side to build a system that can run automatically. In order to automatically control a robot in a 5G environment, we organized the necessary elements, investigated the limitations of the elements, measured the delay of each element, and summarized the results.
