the paradigm of software-defined networks (SDNs) and one of its enabling technologies, OpenFlow, have been widely welcomed by researchers and practitioners because of their flexibility in networking. Most cloud operators are attracted by the ability to “virtualize” networks at data centers, which is one of the most appealing out of various promising applications. How virtual networking is implemented in SDNs still remains to be solved in future research despite such enthusiasm to achieve virtualization. When researchers are involved in SDN investigations, they soon notice the tediousness of setting up the study environment, which consists of virtual machines (VMs), switches, and SDN controllers. therefore, they need to spend a great deal of effort and time on non-essential parts of their studies. We present Kumoi in this paper, which is an integrated development framework for VMs, switches, and SDNs. Kumoi enables us to rapidly deploy VMs along with OpenFlow networking. Kumoi is not just an OpenFlow controller, but it also provides the ability to manage VMs in a single environment. We believe Kumoi could accelerate research on VMs and SDNs.

At present, various target detection algorithms are used in detection and classification. It is a problem to improve the accuracy and speed of target detection by using deep learning and neural network model to train the parameters of the data set. Aiming at the problems of insufficient detection, inaccurate detection of complex background and loss of small target feature information in yolov5 target detection, an improved method combining hole convolution, moving exponential average and retraining of positive samples is proposed in this paper. this method effectively solves the problems of complex background, occlusion and incomplete feature extraction, reduces the loss rate of target features, and improves the detection accuracy of each category. the improved yolov5 target detection algorithm in this paper can not only use multi feature fusion and accelerate positive sample matching, but also use cavity convolution to increase receptive field, improve the detection effect of small targets and reduce the occurrence of missed detection and false detection. Experiments show that the improved yolov5 algorithm has better detection rate and lower loss rate than many existing target detection algorithms. © 2022, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Recent research showed that human mobility is characterized by reproducible patterns, i.e., humans tend to travel a few known places. Timely identification of these significant journeys has prospects for emerging intelligent applications like real-time traffic route recommendation and automated HVAC systems. Existing mobile systems, however, utilize energy-hungry sensors like GPS and gyroscope to detect significant journeys, which make it hard to keep such systems running to continuously monitor driving routes. To address this issue of energy efficiency without compromising the performance, in this paper, a hybrid mobile system based on the barometer sensor of a smartphone is developed. Distinctive elevation signatures of driving routes are captured using the smartphone barometer sensor that is exceptionally energy-efficient and position/orientation-independent. Degraded accuracy due to flat areas with minimal elevation changes is offset by developing an adaptive algorithm that opportunistically obtains GPS locations for a very short period of time when such flat areas are detected in real time. Using over 150 miles of field data, it is demonstrated that the proposed mobile system achieves the mean detection accuracy of 97% with the mean false positive rates of 1.5%. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

Aiming at the issues of low comprehensiveness and timeliness of data, difficulty in balancing data anonymity and traceability, and challenges of securely storing massive data in traditional traffic data sharing systems, this paper proposes a UAV-VANET integrated system (UVIS) based on consortium blockchain. the UAV integrated into the VANET can promptly provide drivers and traffic managers with comprehensive traffic information and images for traffic planning, thus enhancing transportation efficiency and safety. To achieve traceability of anonymous data sharing, we introduce a proxy re-encryption mechanism to realize precise data access control, which can not only protect data and identity privacy but also trace the true identity of malicious users. Additionally, it effectively prevents the collusion between proxies and data requesters from stealing unauthorized confidential information. To alleviate the pressure of traffic data storage, we adopt a storage method that combines blockchain and IPFS, ensuring secure storage of massive data. Security analysis shows that the UVIS has achieved secure sharing of traffic data. this paper describes a three dimensional vision system for intelligent vehicles. After reviewing related works, the paper focuses on a stereo vision system which measures the distance to the vehicle in front using trinocular triangulation. Custom processor architectures were developed for low mass-production cost, real-time operation, low power consumption, and small physical size. the system was installed in a trunk of a car and evaluated successfully on highways.< >

Smart Grid is the future of electricity based on information and telecommunication technology. this article presents the characteristics of the new technological developments in this field, some of the standards included in it, along with several implementation strategies. the validity of the novel proposed approach was demonstrated by simulation with a dedicated module which allows checking how each part of the architecture responds to various case studies. Taking into account the novelty of the subject, this paper brings new opportunities to explore and develop this subject.

In this paper, we introduce and evaluate a novel approach, namely the use of the cross correlation matrix and Maximum Overlap Discrete Wavelet Transform (MODWT) to analyse SenseCam lifelog data streams. SenseCam is a device that can automatically record images and other data from the wearer's whole day. It is a significant challenge to deconstruct a sizeable collection of images into meaningful events for users. the cross-correlation matrix was used, to characterise dynamical changes in non-stationary multivariate SenseCam images. MODWT was then applied to equal-time CorrelationMatrices over different time scales and used to explore the granularity of the largest Eigenvalue and changes, in the ratio of the sub-dominant Eigenvalue spectrum dynamics, over sliding time windows. By examination of the eigenspectrum, we show that these approaches can identify "Distinct Significant Events" for the wearers. the dynamics of the Eigenvalue spectrum across multiple scales provide useful insight on details of major events in SenseCam logged images. © Springer-Verlag 2013.

In Scrum-based projects, delivering precise assessments of requirement changes to stakeholders holds paramount importance for effective software project management. Accurate evaluations empower stakeholders to make informed decisions, preventing costly misunderstandings and fostering shared expectations. the integration of Software Size measurements has significantly contributed to achieving this goal. this paper endeavors to automatically enhance the accuracy of evaluating requirement changes and prioritizing tasks within the Scrum process by leveraging the standardized COSMIC FSM (ISO 19761) along with its extended Structural Size Measurement method. the proposed automated framework, named 'MPED-SCRUM,' stems from the automation of the requirement change evaluation process based on Measuring, Prioritizing, Evaluating and Deciding on requirement change, incorporating both functional and structural change. MPED-SCRUM proves beneficial not only for the Administrator but also for the Scrum Master and Product Owner in effectively managing team members (Module 1). Furthermore, the framework aids both the Scrum Master/Product Owner and development teams in efficiently handling sprint backlogs and user stories (Module 2). Lastly, MPED-SCRUM facilitates the measurement, prioritization, evaluation and decisions making of requirement change requests at two granularity levels – functional and structural. this capability empowers stakeholders to make informed decisions regarding the acceptance, deferral, or denial of a change request (Module 3). © 2024 by SCITEPRESS – science and Technology Publications, Lda.

We propose an acoustic-VR system that converts acoustic signals of human language (Chinese) to realistic 3D tongue animation sequences in real time. It is known that directly capturing the 3D geometry of the tongue at a frame rate that matches the tongue's swift movement during the language production is challenging. this difficulty is handled by utilizing the electromagnetic articulography (EMA) sensor as the intermediate medium linking the acoustic data to the simulated virtual reality. We leverage Deep Neural Networks to train a model that maps the input acoustic signals to the positional information of pre-defined EMA sensors based on 1,108 utterances. Afterwards, we develop a novel reduced physics-based dynamics model for simulating the tongue's motion. Unlike the existing methods, our deformable model is nonlinear, volume-preserving, and accommodates collision between the tongue and the oral cavity (mostly with the jaw). the tongue's deformation could be highly localized which imposes extra difficulties for existing spectral model reduction methods. Alternatively, we adopt a spatial reduction method that allows an expressive subspace representation of the tongue's deformation. We systematically evaluate the simulated tongue shapes with real-world shapes acquired by MRI/CT. Our experiment demonstrates that the proposed system is able to deliver a realistic visual tongue animation corresponding to a user's speech signal.
