this work presents the application of two adaptive decision making algorithms in Web switch controlling operations of cluster-based Web systems. the proposed approach applies machine learning techniques;namely a fuzzy logic and neural networks, to deploy the adaptive and intelligent dispatching within locally distributed fully replicated Web servers. We present the adaptive control framework and the design of Web switch applying our conception. Research shows that drivers rarely consult the vehicle owner's manual to learn to operate advanced safety features, like Adaptive Cruise control (ACC). Students from a United States university participated in a national competition, called EcoCAR Mobility Challenge (sponsored by the Department of Energy), to develop an engaging solution that is efficient and effective in educating drivers about the operation of ACC while adhering to user-centered design methodology. Students used an iterative design process and collected quantitative and qualitative data to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of a mobile application. Iterations of the prototype included an interactive guide, video components, remote connection to the vehicle, and ultimately a solution that could reside on the vehicle's infotainment system. this paper details the process and evaluation outcomes and serves as a model for user-centered design of tutorials for Advanced Driver Assistance systems (ADAS).

this paper evaluates four different Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) systems in the context of self-localization of a six-legged robot equipped with a compact RGB-D sensor. three systems under investigation represent different state of the art approaches to SLAM with RGB-D data, and they are compared to our new approach, called PUT SLAM. We identify problems related to the specific data gathered in-motion by a legged robot, and demonstrate robustness and accuracy of our new approach. the SLAM systems are evaluated applying the well-established methodologies, and using a data set which is made public to ensure that our results are verifiable.

Channel estimation has been becoming the key technique for adaptive underwater acoustic communication systems in tracking fast-fading channels. In this paper, by exploiting the sparse features of underwater acoustic channels for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems, we focus on investigating an adaptive channel estimator based on least squared (LS) and recursive least-squares (RLS). the complexity of the proposed method is low in that only a small number of nonzero-value channel paths are refined by RLS algorithm. Different channel estimation methods are compared for proving the performance of the proposed method. Simulation results show that our proposed method has a better performance, and it is able to track underwater acoustic channels well and provide reliable channel estimates to the communication system.

We present an analysis of the Lotka-Volterra differential equation within rectangles that are transverse with respect to the flow. In a similar way to existing works on affine systems (and positively invariant rectangles), we consider nonlinear IV equations, in rectangles with any kind of tranverse patterns. Notably, we give conditions for the existence of such rectangles. We also analyze the dynamical behavior inside a rectangle. this work is a first step towards a qualitative abstraction and simulation of Lotka-Volterra systems.
