Numerous methods, including chemical etching, ultraviolet radiation, and plasma treatment, are used to functionalize the surface of metallic biomedical implants and enhance osseointegration. Among these techniques, the atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma jet stands out as a promising process due to its numerous advantages, including lower operational power requirements, a cost-effective setup, and short processing times. Moreover, the plasma jet demonstrates superior flexibility in treating surfaces of components with complex geometries, such as biomedical implants. this research investigates the surface treatment process utilizing a DBD plasma jet to improve the surface wettability and decontamination of Titanium (Ti) Grade 23 for biomedical applications. An increase in the surface wettability of the plasma-treated Ti substrate is demonstrated by a reduction in the water contact angle (WCA), which is linked to the changes in the surface chemistry. the Xray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis reveals that the interaction of Argon plasma withthe Ti surface results in the formation of oxide metallic bonds, such as TiO2 and Ti2O3, while simultaneously removing carbon bonds like CO, TiC, and other organic components. this dual action leads to an increase in surface hydrophilicity and facilitates carbon-based decontamination. Further exploration of the effects of plasma treatment is conducted via a parametric study incorporating key plasma parameters such as plasma power, treatment time, and gas flow rate. While the water contact angle is insensitive to the gas flow rate, it is affected by the plasma power and treatment time. the rapid scaling up and process optimization of manufacturing are essential to keep up with current demand and reduce the cost of lithium-ion batteries. In particular, electrode and cell processing and optimization are key in ensuring reliable lithium-ion batteries. Here, we explain how our hybrid modeling approach, combining physics-based simulations and artificial intelligence, can be used to gain insights into performance-manufacturing relationships and optimize the battery cell manufacturing processes. this hybrid approach is a powerful tool that can simulate the various manufacturing steps from powder to power. Withthis approach, in combination withthe acquisition of battery manufacturing pilot line data, it is possible to perform inverse design of the electrode microstructures and cells for optimal properties. A wide diversity of process parameters is taken into account, such as those in the slurry, its drying, and the resulting electrode calendering, together withthe parameters associated withthe electrolyte filling, the formation, and the electrochemical operation. We briefly discuss various works done under the umbrella of our ARTISTIC project initiative, demonstrating a comprehensive hybrid approach to pave the way toward digital twins of the manufacturing process of lithium-ion and (also) next-generation battery cells.

We introduce the General Index of softwareengineering Papers, a dataset of fulltext-indexed papers from the most prominent scientific venues in the field of softwareengineering. the dataset includes both complete bibliographic information and indexed ngrams (sequence of contiguous words after removal of stopwords and non-words, for a total of 577 276 382 unique n-grams in this release) with length 1 to 5 for 44 581 papers retrieved from 34 venues over the 1971 2020 period. the dataset serves use cases in the field of meta-research, allowing to introspect the output of softwareengineering research even when access to papers or scholarly search engines is not possible (e.g., due to contractual reasons). the dataset also contributes to making such analyses reproducible and independently verifiable, as opposed to what happens when they are conducted using 3rd-party and non-open scholarly indexing services. the dataset is available as a portable Postgres database dump and released as open data.
