Programs often emit natural language messages, e.g., in logging statements or exceptions raised on unexpected paths. To be meaningful to users and developers, the message, i.e., what to say, must be consistent withthe condition under which it gets triggered, i.e., when to say it. However, checking for inconsistencies between conditions and messages is challenging because the conditions are expressed in the logic of the programming language, while messages are informally expressed in natural language. this paper presents CMI-Finder, an approach for detecting condition-message inconsistencies. CMI-Finder is based on a neural model that takes a condition and a message as its input and then predicts whether the two are consistent. To address the problem of obtaining realistic, diverse, and largescale training data, we present six techniques to generate large numbers of inconsistent examples to learn from automatically. Moreover, we describe and compare three neural models, which are based on binary classification, triplet loss, and fine-tuning, respectively. Our evaluation applies the approach to 300K condition-message statements extracted from 42 million lines of Python code. the best model achieves a precision of 78% at a recall of 72% on a dataset of past bug fixes. Applying the approach to the newest versions of popular open-source projects reveals 50 previously unknown bugs, 19 of which have been confirmed by the developers so far.

Microservice architectures emphasize keeping components small, to foster autonomy, low coupling and independent evolution. In this large-scale empirical study we measure the size of Web API specifications mined from open source repositories. these APIs are modeled using the OpenAPI Specification (OAS), which, in addition to documenting the offered operations, also contain schemas definitions for the data exchanged withthe API request and response message payloads. this study has as a goal to build empirical knowledge about: (1) How big and diverse are real-world web APIs both in terms of their operations and data, (2) How different API structures use and reuse schema definitions. By mining public software repositories on Github, we gathered 42,194 valid OAS specifications published between 2014-2021. these specifications include descriptions of Web APIs of well-known services providers such as Google, VMware (Avi Networks), Twilio, Amazon. After measuring the size of API structures and their data model schemas, we found that most APIs are rather small. Also there is a medium correlation between the size of the APIs' functional structures and their data models. API developers do reuse schema definitions within the same API model.

the prospect of conducting lunar missions over extended periods for scientific research and lunar resource utilization is of increasing interest to space agencies and private organizations. However, the feasibility of long-duration crewed lunar missions depends on several factors, including the availability of reliable power systems. A potential solution involves development of solar power structures for energy storage to support the operation of lunar habitats and facilities. Lunar structures must be able to withstand the harsh lunar environment, including the extreme temperature fluctuations accompanying the rising and setting of the sun. this paper presents finite element (FE) analyses of a tall, truss-type solar power structure to determine deformations and stresses due to the application of extreme temperature loads. the thermal loading was applied considering the tower to be located at the lunar equator. the FE model was verified by comparing the predictions of a static analysis with published results available in the literature. Multiple boundary conditions were considered in this analysis to determine the effect of the base supports on thermally induced deflections and stresses in the structure. the analysis results showed minimal deflections in the horizontal direction, yet larger amounts in the vertical due to the overall length of the combined vertical members. Large amounts of stress were developed within the bottom four bays of the structure. the stress was found to decrease withthe application of support conditions allowing for translation in the horizontal directions. throughout the lunar cycle, it was observed that the thermally induced deflections and stresses fluctuated withthe application of the extreme thermal loading, and are able to be modified by applying the proper support conditions. the procedure and FE model outlined provide a foundation for future development of a tall, truss-type solar power tower under the various harsh environmental
