Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs) have had a substantial influence on diverse industries such as education, agriculture, manufacturing, and environmental monitoring. However, due to their wireless characteristics, sensor nodes (SNs) in distant or unsupervised regions cannot substitute their batteries, prompting extensive research to extend their operational lifespan. Although cluster-based routing has proven effective in tackling this challenge, there is still room for improvement in optimizing the selection of cluster heads (CHs) by incorporating crucial parameters. Traditionally, the emphasis has been on either selecting CHs or transmitting data between nodes, but meta-heuristic methods present a promising strategy for attaining optimal network performance. This proposed research work presents a novel approach called the sparrow search optimization algorithm (SSO) for improving performance through the combination of clustering and the energy-efficient opportunistic routing (EEOR) protocol. The suggested hybrid methodology was implemented using MATLAB, and the obtained outcomes were compared to three commonly employed techniques: low-energy adaptive clustering hierarchy (LEACH), hybrid energy-efficient distributed (HEED), and a whale optimization algorithm (WOA)-based clustering approach. The QoS parameters are represented by the following performance results: packet delivery ratio (PDR) of 98%, throughput of 0.92 Mbps, energy consumption of 8.70 mJ, network lifetime (NLT) of 6000 rounds, and an end-to-end delay (E2ED) of 0.01843 ms for the proposed method. © 2024 ieee.

According to the World Health Organization, approximately 360,000 pregnant women are registered annually in Sri Lanka. Among these, about 328,000 babies are born healthy, while 5,800 are born with birth defects, some of which are severe and impact daily life. To address the Sri Lankan stillbirth rate of 6.01%, continuous monitoring of fetal and maternal health is essential. Although commercial devices exist to fulfill this requirement, their high costs and safety issues often preclude regular use. To overcome these challenges, there is a need for a passive, wearable, and portable monitoring system for fetal and maternal health. This system should track key parameters such as fetal heart rate, fetal movements, and maternal heart rate to mitigate health risks for both the fetus and the mother. In this study, we developed a device using the Arduino, appropriate sensors, and a microcontroller to monitor these vital parameters. The device is user-friendly and suitable for regular use. MATLAB was utilized for the signal processing requirements of the proposed device. Test results demonstrated that fetal movement detection was accurate, although potential errors may arise during real-time testing. For pulse sensor readings, an average percentage difference of 3.025% was observed compared to pulse oximeter readings, likely due to placement errors and sensor instability in the proposed device. © 2024 ieee.

Cognitive Wireless sensor Networks (CWSNs) are exposed to severe energy constraints, requiring investigation into solutions for extended network lifetimes. Radio Frequency Wireless Energy Harvesting (RFWEH) has proven its ability to efficiently mitigate these limits. However, the dynamic nature of many CWSN applications, influenced by node mobility, causes issues as network topologies changes. A unique Multi-Objective Remora Optimization Algorithm (MROA) is developed to handle the combination of energy harvesting and node mobility. MROA is designed for mobility-aware CWSNs and incorporates energy harvesting effortlessly. To choose cluster heads, the protocol applies an R-factor parameter that incorporates residual node energy, residual node data, and node speed with appropriate weighting. As a result, the MROA framework improves the network's energy performance, which leads to an extended using lifetime. When compared to existing methods namely RMAC-M, R-MAC, and WORP the suggested method performed well in the 500 rounds. It achieved in terms, Alive nodes -3400, Throughput - 170.57 kbps and Delay - 45.00 seconds respectively. © 2023 ieee.

The incorporation of distributed deep learning for medical image processing in cloud settings is the subject of this study. The findings demonstrate the high viability and significant performance advantages realized by cloud-based distributed systems, notably significant processing time savings, outstanding diagnostic accuracy, as well as improved scalability. The consequences for security and privacy have been discussed, with a focus on effective safeguards for private medical information. There is a void in the literature about resource and cost-effectiveness optimization tactics used in cloud-based systems. Future research must concentrate on resource optimization tactics for economic sustainability, study developing security risks and privacy techniques, and incorporate real-world implementations in order to improve this topic. This study informs the use of distributed deep learning in cloud-based medical image processing as well as adds to the body of knowledge in healthcare technology. © 2023 ieee.

The paper presents a study on a 14-bus interconnected distribution system featuring two generators, three capacitors, and eleven loads. Voltage estimations are conducted per unit (p.u.) at each bus, identifying the weakest bus based on the lowest voltage. To address the issue, a Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) device is introduced at the weak bus to enhance voltage and maintain it within the range of 0.95 pu to 1.05 pu. Voltage sag, a significant power quality problem, is considered. Custom power devices, specifically a distributed Power Flow Controller, are proposed for mitigating power quality issues. The DPFC is placed at the weak bus to inject reactive power and regulate voltage. Unlike traditional sources, the loads draw reactive power from the DPFC, reducing power losses and improving voltage magnitude. The modelling and simulation of the proposed system, including the DPFC and stATCOM, are carried out using MATLAB Simulink. The comparison of bus voltages with and without the DPFC is conducted to demonstrate its effectiveness in identifying and addressing voltage-related problems within the distribution system. Renewable energy systems can run continuously in one of two ways: grid-connected or stand-alone. The system can run in either grid-connected mode in the first scenario or microgrid or island mode in the second. It is referred to as isolated operation when a decentralized generator (DG) keeps running when there is no external power supply accessible. Due to the fact that it hinders devices from correctly joining, this issue can harm the mesh. Therefore, a hybrid island identification method that combines passive and active is proposed in this study. Islanding issues arise from the deployment of DG units such photovoltaics. The accuracy of islanding detection (ID) will also depend on the number of DG sets in the power distribution system. The suggested DC source system that is linked to a 415 V, 50 Hz grid is tested using the suggested procedure. Performance evaluation of the method using passive and active ID methods. The detection time is shortened by the suggested strategy. © 2023 ieee.

The K-means clustering algorithm is one potential solution that prolongs the lifetime of non-uniformly distributed wireless networks. However, this algorithm is sensitive to initialization, which, if unsuitable, can lead to inadequate clustering. This paper proposes the implementation of Unsupervised K-means (U-K-means), a free initialization version of K-means, as a new clustering technique for topology management in wireless sensor networks. The simulation results demonstrate that U-K-means outperforms the traditional K-means algorithm-based solutions in terms of consumed energy and network durability. © 2022 ieee.

The increasing industrialization and overpopulation in recent decades have necessitated the development of new, more environmentally friendly modes of transportation. The paper appears into this holistic method to sell environmentally pleasant transportation networks by encouraging inexperienced riding behavior and reducing fuel fees. Large-scale deployment and control of WSNs and IoT structures in smart transportation networks provide specific troubles discussed on this have a look at. Wireless sensor Network (WSN) is a growing technology used for monitoring the physical world. The WSN's sensors are utilised to monitor the surrounding environment, and the information gathered is communicated wirelessly. The primary objective of wireless sensor network design is to maximise network lifetime. Network lifetime can be extended and energy consumption can be properly balanced through the use of clustering and routing. However, the WSN's restricted battery supply means that energy efficiency is regarded as a difficult task in a network. In this paper, an Energy Efficiency-based Multi-Objective Optimization method (EE- MOOA) is used to construct a cluster-based routing method for achieving energy efficiency in WSN. The Improved Butterfly Optimization Algorithm (IBOA) is used in the development of the EE-MOOA. Improving energy efficiency is the main goal of the EE-MOOA approach, which aims to improve data delivery for WSNs agricultural applications. The energy efficiency of the EE-MOOA method is 99.12% for 100 nodes, which is a higher measure when compared to the energy efficiency value of existing methods. © 2023 ieee.
