The adoption of Internet and Intranet technologies has been rapidly spreading in recent years, and existing systems are being replaced with new systems based on these new technologies. At changing environment of the power system industry, in 1999 Toshiba announced a concept of new middleware for power system network control systems including energy management systems(EMS), supervisory control and data acquisition systems(SCADA), and distribution management systems (DMS). This new middleware is based on latest Internet and Intranet technologies, offering the real-time operation and high reliability required for network control systems. Presently, several systems are being manufactured, and some of which are already at the stage of commissioning tests. This Paper focuses a SCADA system for the Ultra High Voltage equipment pilot plant of Tokyo Electric Power Corp.(TEPCO) which has been working since December. 2000,and uses Intranet technologies, with an emphasis on a functional overview and the features of the newly developed system.

There are multi-versioning schemes that can preserve individual users' concurrent conflicting intentions in a consistent way. However, they are proposed for intention preservation in collaborative editing environments, where a document consists of a set of independent objects with independent attributes. In order to support unconstrained collaborative editing on text objects, this paper proposes an integrated operational transformation and multi-versioning scheme such that individual users' intentions are always preserved. Technical issues of the multi-versioning process are discussed in detail.

Contemporary product design and manufacture put increasing emphasis on distributed collaboration. Our work in support of the "Artificial joint fast implanting" project of China National "863" High-Tech Programme has led us to research the problems associated with implementing a conference system for real-time distributed design evaluation. We designed and implemented a virtual reality (VR) based whiteboard using VRML to express 3D product design prototype. The whiteboard supports stereoscopic display with certain hardware. The system adopts distributed file system architecture and just transfers operating data, which leads to excellent real-time feature even under network of narrow bandwidth. The whole conference system takes client-server architecture. Each client is based on multi-agent system (MAS) for the merit of flexibility. The system also encapsulates Microsoft NetMeeting to facilitate multi-modal communication. We applied the system over Internet and the results were satisfying. The paper gives the theory basis and design contemplation of our system.

An RBAC (Role Based Access Control) based and policy enforcement coordination (RBPEC) model suitable in Internet environment is described. Coordination deals with the interaction between different agents and also between agents and surrounding environments. A set of agents interacting with each other for a common global system task constitutes a coordination group. Coordination is combined with access control in RBPEC model. Role based access control is introduced for security concerns. Coordination policy is enforced in a distributed manner. The model has two advantages of being secure and scalable.

We propose a new geometric spanner, for wireless ad hoc networks, which can be constructed efficiently in a distributed manner. It combines the connected dominating set and the local Delaunay graph to form the backbone of wireless network. This new spanner has these following attractive properties: (1) the backbone is a planar graph;(2) the node degree of the backbone is bounded from above by a positive constant;(3) it is a spanner both for hops and length;moreover, we show that, given any two nodes u and v, there is a path connecting them in the backbone such that its length is no more than 6 times of the shortest path and the number of links is no more than 3 times of the shortest path;(4) it can be constructed locally and is easy to maintain when the nodes move around;(5) moreover, we show that the computation cost of each node is at most O(d log d), where d is its 1-hop neighbors in the original unit disk graph, and the communication cost of each node is bounded by a constant. Simulation results are also presented for studying its practical performance.

This paper presents how to make different agents cooperate to accomplish complex tasks and coordinate their objects, planning, knowledge and action, etc in dynamic and open multi-agent system. Using a hierarchical architecture, we implement a multi-agent prototype system-NHMAS in distributed network system environment. After briefly describing the framework of different agents and their functions, the paper discusses coordination mechanism of NHMAS in detail. We explore a heuristic strategy in task allocation. An advantage of this task allocation strategy is that it does not put extra loads on the system at critical times. For the need of coordinating different agent actions, we add partial order constraints between actions that have probability of conflicts and introduce our planning algorithm, conflict resolution and communication language. At last, we give a briefly performance analysis on Aglet workbench for NHMAS.
