The amendment to the Electricity Utilities Industry Law in December 1995 in Japan created a new category of electric power supplier called "specific electric utility industry". These utilities are entities other than general electric utility industry that are allowed to supply electricity to a number of users in one or more buildings, such as office blocks, using CHP(Combined Heat & Power) and other kinds of power sources. In Japan today, CHPs have only been used to supply electricity to customers within the building where the generator is. Specific electric utility industry, however, is allowed to supply and sell electricity to the buildings outside the building where the generator is, which can not be seen anywhere else in the world. Combining CHPs with conventional district heating and cooling systems (DHC) as an element of urban redevelopment projects makes it possible to create energy efficient, environmentally benign and economical energy supply systems. systems of this kind represent the ultimate in distributed energy supply systems, and are likely to grow increasingly widespread in the future. A specific electricity supply service is being planned by Tokyo Gas for the redevelopment project in Roppongi area, in the heart of Tokyo. The power generation system, which will have a total output of 36,500kW, will be powered by steam-injection gas turbines. Although two specific electric utility industry have already been launched elsewhere in Japan, the project will be the largest of its kind in this country and the first to offer full-fledged services in an urban area. The attached heat service plant will have a capacity of 66,810kW (19,000USRT), and utilize all waste heat generated in the process of power generation. Together, the power system and heat service system will consume 18% less energy and emit 25% less CO2 and 44% less NOx than a conventional energy supply system. The development of electronic commerce (EC) systems is subject to different conditions than that of conventional software systems. Examples of such differentiating conditions are that the development requires the integration of many systems from various suppliers and that content and functionality have to be coordinated closely. In addition, the roles involved in the development process, their tasks, qualifications and the software tools used by them, are different to other processes. An adapted process must cope with important idiosyncrasies of EC system development: EC systems typically have a high degree of interaction, which makes factors like ergonomics, didactics and psychology especially important in the development of user interfaces. Furthermore, the approach to the development of EC systems should take into account the "time-to-market" factor and allow development time reduction while retaining quality. This paper introduces and describes an adapted software development process for EC systems and its special features using the development of an EC portal system as an example.

As cooperative information systems (CIS) grow to cover large-scaled CIS that involves many cooperative sub-systemsdistributed geographically, management technologies that support them gain in importance. This paper focuses on the underlying technologies that are key to the success of cooperative information system, i.e., service management and network management, which are in the form of middleware, to assure inter-domain cooperation within a big CIS in a flexible, automated and secure way. This flexibility and automation is guaranteed by the use of Policy-based Network Management integrated with Mobile Agent Technology. Extending the mobile agent supporting environment, Grasshopper, to support more secure facilities, largely enhances the security. As a case study, IP Virtual Private Network tunnel between two geographically separated domains within a large-scaled CIS is set up and configured automatically and securely using the service and network management middleware, which shows that service and network management enhanced CIS can operate with more flexibility, automation, security and in a larger information system.

In this article a new method of synthesis of resistive precision sensorstructure is shown. There are theoretical theses that give a chance to create precision device networks using the elements that do not have high quality characteristics. These theses are proved in this work. There is an example of resistive sensorstructure synthesis and results of its design. The structure is characterized by a high sensitivity of transformation, low level of noise and zero drift. Such results are possible because the signal and noise gains are independent. Moreover, there is a great (more then an order of magnitude) widening of frequency range.

The following principle of self compensation is formulated on the basis of an analysis of a general structure. The main technological inaccuracy of active elements' production influence the network characteristics. A sufficient condition of self compensation was found for ARC networks and its uniqueness was proved. In this case additional compensating circuit loops of feedback, put in networks, do not influence the set of device transfer functions and do not change the upper level of its dynamic range. For an amplifier, the second topological method is shown. It influences the realized transfer functions. With the help of the results we can formulate a new method of high-accuracy analog device building in an alternative submicron (less then micron) technology.

distributed Object computing (DOC) is an increasingly important computing paradigm exploiting the benefits of object-oriented technology and using the internet and its communications infrastructure as a vehicle for the delivery of a wide range of sophisticated value-added distributed services. ne integration of the Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) and object-oriented programming languages facilitates the introduction and deployment of such applications in a platform-independent open distributed environment. In this paper, we introduce both CORBA and Java as tools to facilitate the development of distributed object computing-based applications, and we present a prototype electronic commerce application using the DOC paradigm.
