The large-scale interactive services distribute clients' requests across a large number of physical machine in data center architectures to enhance the quality-of-service (Q4iS) performance. In parallel and distributed data center architecture, even a temporary spike in latency of any service component can significantly impact the end-to-end delay. Besides the average latency, tail-latency (i.e., worst case latency) of a service has also attracted a lot of research attentions. The tail-latency is a critical performance metric in data centers, where long tail latencies refer to the higher percentiles (such as 98th, 99th) of latency in comparison to the average latency time. While the statistical delay-bounded QoS provisioning theory has been shown to be a powerful technique and useful performance metric for supporting time-sensitive multimedia transmissions over mobile computing networks, how to efficiently extend and implement this technique/performance-metric for statistically bounding the tail-latency for data center networks has neither been well understood nor thoroughly studied. In this paper, we model and characterize the tail-latency distribution in a three-layer parallel and distributed data center architecture, where clients request different types of services and ten download their requested data packets from data center through a first-come-first-serve M/M/1 queueing system. We first define the statistical tail-latency bounded QoS, and investigate the tail-latency problem through generalized extreme value (GEV) theory and generalized Pareto distribution (GPD) theory. Then, we propose a scheme to identify the dominant sources of latency variance in a semantic context, so that we are able to optimize the instructions of those sources to reduce the latency tail. Finally, using numerical analyses we validate and evaluate our developed modeling techniques and schemes for characterizing the tail-latency QoS provisioning theories in supporting data center networ

With the increasing number of real-time monitoring networks, the relevance of the transmitted information has become an important characteristic. Examples of such networks include sensor networks that measure and transmit atmospheric pressure, temperature and other environmental parameters, unmanned vehicles that require up-to-date information about speed, position and acceleration, and other systems. In all of these applications, information becomes obsolete over time and loses its value. In this paper, a single-layer multicasting network with tree topology is constructed. A source generates updates containing information about the state of the remote system and sends them to the root node, which transmits them to n end nodes. The transmission is carried out using a stopping scheme with threshold k. The point of the stopping scheme is to stop transmitting the update to the remaining n-k nodes after the first k nodes acknowledge its receiving. The peak age of information (AoI) at the end nodes is of interest. The analysis is carried out using mathematical and simulation modelling. Approximate and exact formulas for the average peak AoI at the end nodes are obtained, which match the simulation results. The analysis shows that the use of stopping scheme not only improves the efficiency of radio resource utilisation by reducing the number of transmissions, but also reduces the AoI at the end nodes. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Maximizing target coverage is crucial in wireless sensor networks (WSN), where sensor nodes collect data to monitor events or targets in specific areas. Efficient coverage optimization involves deploying sensors to cover the entire monitored region, addressing the NP-hard nature of the problem. Various algorithms, including learning-based automata, genetic algorithms, and probabilistic approaches, have been employed. Specifically, deep reinforcement learning (DRL), using deep neural network (DNN) as a predictor, has shown promise. However, the DRL models require a large amount of data for training, which may limit their adaptability to the ever-evolving statistics of the underlying environment. Moreover, wireless networks are inherently distributed systems, where centralized DRL approaches would require excessive data exchange, while fully distributed approaches may result in slower convergence rates and performance degradation. To overcome these challenges, we propose a novel federated learning (FL) approach to Deep Q-Network (DQN), called Federated Reinforcement Deep Q-Network (FEDQN), which allows sensors to collaboratively train the DQN by sharing only model weights, not training data. This paper demonstrates how FEDQN maximizes target coverage in a continuous, partially observable visual sensor network environment, simulating traffic flow with mobile targets.

To alleviate the losses caused owing to the sporadic nature of renewable power sources to the distributed generation system and to make use of these resources in a more efficient way, a fuzzy logic control based pursuit for Energy Management System (EMS) has been presented. The strategy has been planned by analyzing the difference between the output power from the renewable energy and the demand load power, considering the state of charge of the battery as well. The modes of operation have been dictated by connotations of the fuzzy rules. Here, photo voltaic (PV) batteries and wind power have been used as the renewable power sources. The rational control of resources at hand and systematic operation with six different modes is demonstrated using simulation. These modes are hence used to generate different control signals for various operations. The other major component of the system is the bidirectional DC/AC converter, which along with suitable switches for grid and load connection, routes the direction of power flow to best utilize the available power resources. Simulation results concur with the fuzzy rule matrix proposed. © 2021 ieee

Election is the mechanism which is used by people to choose a leader. The citizens can cast their vote either through ballet paper or Electronic Voting Machine [EVM]. Using either way of voting has a chance to misuse the other votes. As a result, this research work proposes a fingerprint sensor and face recognition-enabled electronic voting system. This helps to conduct a safe election without rigging as fingerprint and face are used as identification features. The vote caster fingerprints will be taken and it will be extracted and saved in the database for the voter registration and authentication processes. storing the information in the database will prevent more than one registration from a single person. At the time of voting or during voting day, the individual person need to scan his/her fingerprint and it will be compared with the fingerprint database if the fingerprint is found in the fingerprint database. By using the Voter identity number and fingerprint, numerous duplicate registrations can be stopped and this will lead to high rate of actual success during voting. Voters can cast their ballots from any part if world by using their voter's unique identifier, authentication responses given on enrollment, and a token key supplied immediately for every member via the specially designed election web module. The administrator will send the token to the linked candidate's Email address. This proposed project has been implemented on University of Ibadan. Finally, the University of Ibadan had successfully completed the online voting system project by eliminating the occurrence of rigging. Some extra features are added to the project when compared with the existing system. © 2022 ieee.

To overcome the shortcomings and difficulties encountered by Agile teams in distributed environment, it is proposed to use a hybrid method based on the methods of eXtreme Programming and Scrumban. In many applications wireless sensor networks are used and are installed in hostile environment for sensing different data. To secure data, cryptographic techniques are used. The sensor nodes in the network are distributed randomly in the network and these communicate with the node present within the range of the node. In order to have secure communication by maintaining confidentiality and authentication, key predistribution technique is used. Key predistribution also reduces the memory overhead of storing the key information in the sensor node. In this method key is predistributed in the network before communication. The paper proposes key predistribution method based on matrix decomposition technique known as Cholesky decomposition technique. In this method the key matrix decomposes into lower and upper triangular matrix. The upper triangular matrix is the transpose of lower triangular matrix. Each node stores the row and column information. The nodes involve in communication exchange the row information of the decomposed matrix to generate the secret key which is used for secure message communication. This method provides better key connectivity and also needs less memory to store the polynomial store in the node to generate the key. © 2021 ieee.

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are a collection of sensors and developing technology applied in military and civilian areas of study. sensor networks randomly and hierarchically configured in remote and unattended environments. Wireless sensor networks expose to security challenges since sensor nodes are deployed in an open environment and wireless communication between the nodes. WSNs are vulnerable to different security threats such as a black hole, Sybil, sinkhole, wormhole, forwarding, gray hole attacks.., etc. Due to the increase, these attacks on critical infrastructures managed by networked systems, designing robust intrusion detection systems is essential for protecting sensitive information. In this work, A secure intrusion detection system is designed based on decision tree a machine learning classification model. This model is used to build predictive model by training and testing. Decision tree IDS confirms the detection accuracy of 99.8% using MATLAB with NSL-KDD dataset. We examined this work by using NSL-KDD dataset as benchmark for performance comparison detection metrics with different class of attacks. © 2021 ieee.
