This paper investigates second-order consensus in heterogeneous multi-agent systems (HMASs) using a distributed sliding mode control (DSMC) strategy. The considered system operates with agents having diverse dynamic characteristics, including linear and nonlinear dynamics. A distributed control law is designed to ensure consensus among all agents, facilitating synchronization of their positions and velocities. The proposed control approach leverages sliding mode control to achieve finite-time convergence of consensus errors while ensuring robustness against system heterogeneity. Lyapunov-based stability analysis confirms the theoretical convergence of the system. Numerical simulations validate the effectiveness of the control scheme in achieving second-order consensus in heterogeneous agent networks. © 2025 ieee.

Network Slicing has emerged as a keystone for supporting multiple service verticals over shared 5G network infrastructure. It leverages virtualization techniques to allocate programmable network instances matching service requirements. This requires novel resource allocation mechanisms, as well as new admission control and load balancing policies, to satisfy the diverse quality of service (QoS) requirements of different services, while optimizing the resource utilization across slices. This in turn requires accurate determination of loading on a slice, which not only depends on the type of application, but also on the stringency of QoS requirements, and hence existing metrics such as resource utilization may be inadequate. We introduce a novel load metric that can be used across slices, and illustrate how it can be used for load balancing, slice capacity resizing, and admission control in the proposed cross-slice resource orchestration framework.

Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) equips machines with the capability to map and navigate unfamiliar environments autonomously. By employing sensor fusion, SLAM's precision and dependability are significantly improved as data from a variety of sensors are combined. This review delves into the core principles of SLAM, explores diverse methods of sensor fusion, and examines the incorporation of artificial intelligence in SLAM systems. Additionally, it addresses the technical hurdles and environmental factors that affect SLAM's performance. Future research directions are also identified, emphasizing the promising role of interdisciplinary approaches and emerging technologies in enhancing SLAM's development. © 2025 ieee.

Information about every criminal case is kept in a very secret police case database system. During the course of an investigation and case resolution, criminal information is handled differently in each case. However, the traditional police case information management system is not extremely secure. Although every police station has a system for recording criminal history, the data transfer is still not transparent. Many police stations still run their operations with manual systems. Any unethical action might cause unfairness for the victims. As a result, we are offering a secure platform that combines the openness as well as adaptability of smart contract-based systems with the accuracy and secrecy of current police case schemes. We have created a smart contract on the blockchain's Go Ethereum platform using the Proof-of-Authority (PoA) consensus mechanism to verify the user and offer transparency for the security of criminal records and evidence. Our proposed solution runs on a distributed network for the best possible data security that adheres to the Web 3.0 model. © 2024 ieee.

Due to the technological advancements and the growing population, distributed generation units have been widely used to satisfy the demands of the consumers. A multi-objective problem can be formulated to identify the optimum size and location of distributed generation units. To obtain realistic results, several objectives and constraints must be considered. This study aims to analyse the impact of parameters such as population size, number of constraints and crossover probability on the performance of the optimisation algorithm. To provide an equilibrium between the exploration and the exploitation phase, this study also proposes to change these parameters dynamically. Non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II was used for the optimisation. It was found that the diversity, convergence and simulation time of the optimisation algorithm was greatly improved. © 2024 ieee.

Wireless sensor Networks (WSN) plays a vital role in a wide area of applications, encompassing environmental assessment, healthcare, automated industrial system etc,. The limited energy of sensor nodes poses a significant challenge, as it makes it difficult to maintain the network's operation for an extended period and ensure reliable data transmission. To address this significant issue, this work proposes a new routing algorithm called the DS Evidence Theory-Based Energy Balanced Algorithm. The proposed algorithm adopts a distributed approach, where sensor nodes collaboratively form clusters based on their residual energy levels. Nodes then exchange information with neighbouring nodes to gather evidence related to energy levels and network topology. Employing Dempster's rule of combination, the algorithm fuses the collected evidence to calculate a belief measure for each node concerning its energy level. The crux of the algorithm lies in its energy balancing strategy, where cluster heads collaboratively redistribute energy among nodes within their clusters to achieve a balanced energy distribution throughout the network. Consequently, the network's lifetime is significantly enhanced, as no single node is excessively burdened, thus preventing early node failures. The primary objective of the proposed approach is to find the optimal next hop selection for efficient data transmission. From this work it is evident that sine membership function performs precise than triangular membership function. © 2024 ieee.

In this paper, we study a connected submodular function maximization problem, which arises from many applications including deploying UAV networks to serve users and placing sensors to cover Points of Interest (PoIs). Specifically, given a budget K, the problem is to find a subset S with K nodes from a graph G so that a given submodular function f(S) on S is maximized while the induced subgraph G[S] by the nodes in S is connected, where the submodular function f can be used to model many practical application problems, such as the number of users within different service areas of the deployed UAVs in S, the sum of data rates of users served by the UAVs, the number of covered PoIs by placed sensors, etc. We then propose a novel 1-1/e/2h+2-approximation algorithm for the problem, improving the best approximation ratio 1-1/e/2h+2 for the problem so far, through estimating a novel upper bound on the problem and designing a smart graph decomposition technique, where e is the base of the natural logarithm, h is a parameter depends on the problem and its typical value is 2. In addition, when h = 2, the algorithm approximation ratio is at least 1-1/e/5 and may be as large as 1 in some special cases when K <= 21, and is no less than 1-1/e/6 when K >= 22, compared with the current best approximation ratio 1-1/e/7 (= 1-1/e/2h+3) for the problem. We finally evaluate the algorithm performance in the application of deploying a UAV network. Experimental results demonstrate the number of users within the service area of the deployed UAV network by the proposed algorithm is up to 7.5% larger than those by existing algorithms, and its empirical approximation ratio is between 0.7 and 0.99, which is close to the theoretical maximum value one.

A totally asynchronous gradient algorithm, with fixed step size is proposedfor federated learning. A mathematical model is presented and a convergence result is established. The convergence result is based on the concept of macro iterations sequence. The interest of the contribution is to show that the asynchronous federated learning method converges when gradients of loss functions are updated by workers without order nor synchronization and with possible unbounded delays.

In recent years, many educational institutions have adopted information systems such as e-Learning platforms and groupware. However, these existing information systems often have significant installation, operation, and maintenance costs. Moreover, on-premise systems require expensive servers and cloud computing systems can accumulate high maintenance expenses. To address this issue, we have proposed that utilizes idle resources (idle computers) in an organization's information system. One of the characteristics of idle computers is that communication lines can be connected or disconnected at arbitrary times according to the operations of the original users. In general, the distributed system uses an idle computer as an unstable resource. However, our proposed system requires tolerating them as normal behaviors, and it requires a test environment for this problem. In this paper, we propose a load-testing environment to use idle computers having unstable behaviors in a distributed system. We also implemented and applied the proposed environment to a distributed e-Learning system. The result shows efficiency in showing behavior of unstable behaviors of idle computers to developers. © 2023 ieee.

As deep learning grows rapidly, model training heavily relies on parallel methods and there exist numerous cluster configurations. However, current preferences for parallel training focus on data centers, overlooking the financial constraints faced by most researchers. To attain the best performance within the cost limitation, we introduce a throughput-cost metric to accurately characterize clusters' cost-effectiveness. Based on this metric, we design a cost-effective cluster featuring the 3090 with NVLink. The experiment results demonstrate that our cluster achieves remarkable cost-effectiveness in various distributed model training schemes. © 2023 ieee.
