OLED-OPD Matrix for Sensing on a Single Flexible Substrate

Integration of organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) and organic photodetectors (OPDs) on flexible plastic substrates promises compact and low-cost optical detection units for multiplex sensors. These units may be laminated to a microfluidic system for sensing applications in a liquid. Here, a 6 x 6 element matrix of alternating blue OLEDs and OPDs is demonstrated on a single flexible plastic substrate. The devices are fabricated by masked thermal evaporation on a 200 mu m thick polyethylene terephthalate (PET) foil. The individual device size is 1 mm x 1 mm. Both OLEDs and OPDs are demonstrated to work. The spectral characteristics are shown to be suitable for fluorescencemeasurements. Signals from fluorescence-labeled spots above the OPDs under OLED excitation are investigated. Successful operation of the OLED-OPD matrix for reflection measurement is demonstrated.

Microdroplet-Based Organic Vapour sensor on a Disposable GO-Chitosan Flexible Substrate

With rising hazardous organic vapours in the environment, the detection of volatile organic vapour compounds (VOCs) is becoming important. To this end, this paper presents a conductive droplet-based disposable sensor. Unlike conventional sensors, the droplet system is easily replaceable and is capable of detecting multiple vapours based on surface tension gradient. The chemiresistive sensor presented here is fabricated on 2.5 mu m thick ultra-flexible graphene oxide-chitosan (GOC) with Pt electrodes having 60 mu m gap. The electrostatic interaction and strong hydrogen bonds between GO and polysaccharide groups in chitosan provide tunable hydrophobicity and stability to the droplet. With a conductive droplet of similar to 10 mu L of aq. NaCl as an active sensing material dispensed between the Pt electrodes, it was observed that the droplet showed 14-21% change in resistance in the presence of VOCs. A read-out circuit was also designed to get the data from the droplet sensor. The response time for the presented sensor (3-4 seconds) is significantly better than its solid-state sensor counterparts. With attractive features such as disposability, affordability and fast response the presented sensor will find applications in industrial environments, laboratories, health centres, and biomedical devices.

The current paper depicts a Moth Swarm Algorithm (MSA) for frequency regulation of distributed Power Generation System (DPGS) using cascade PI-PD controller. The DGPS includes the renewable power generator such as wind, solar photovoltaic and storage devices like flywheel, battery along with electric vehicles. The suggested cascade PI-PD and PID controller gains are tuned by MSA technique. Here, the mastery of the proposed MSA tuned cascade PI-PD controller over conventional PID controller is established with respect to effectiveness for frequency regulation. © 2020 ieee.

This paper presents research on the design of vibration measuring devices, especially in detecting damage to a rotary machine, using an accelerometer sensor. The type of accelerometer sensor used is a Micro Electrical Mechanical System (MEMS), MEMS Accelerometer is designed to be able to achieve technical functions, specifically the electromechanical function. The MEMS accelerometer sensor and the conventional accelerometer sensor for measuring vibration on a rotary machine, are both sensors that produce an acceleration value to measure vibrations in the machine. But the advantages possessed by MEMS sensors include a relatively cheap price, three axes, and can be applied in embedded systems. So with these advantages, the MEMS accelerometer sensor can be used as an alternative sensor for measuring vibration. The MEMS accelerometer sensor that will be used is the ADXL345 Accelerometer. Besides, the advantage of the ADXL345 accelerometer sensor is that it already has an Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) and digital filter, so that this sensor can make faster computing in the acquisition of data in the form of digital data when compared to other MEMS accelerometer sensors without ADC. The results of the measurements will be used as material for vibration analysis on the machine in the form of a frequency spectrum with the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) method. © 2020 ieee.

Object recognition is a necessary task for many areas of technology, such as robot navigation or the intelligent reconstruction of environments in order a robot can interact with these objects. This article presents an architecture that integrates distributed heterogeneous information to recognise objects. The architecture uses devices that can process sensory data locally to send information to other devices. In order to perform data processing actions, the devices must have a layer of intelligent connectivity. These devices are called Smart Resources that offer to the distributed nodes the processed sensor data by means of information services. To validate the architecture, a system with two smart resources, equipped with different sensors, has been implemented. Experiments carried out show that it is better to select objects as soon as possible to improve the object recognition rate. Consequently, in the distributed system, devices should, when possible, deliver the process in advance.

The proteomics data analysis pipeline based on the shotgun method requires efficient data processing methods. The parallel algorithm of mass spectrometry database search faces the problems of rapidly expanding database size but low scalability. The heterogeneous database search algorithm based on deep learning is an effective way to solve this problem. still, the deep learning-based distributed parallel database search algorithm is lacking. This paper analyzes the database searching computational load using a neural network and designs ReSLB, a workflow for the restricted search of mass spectrometry data based on GPU cluster and neural network scoring algorithm. This work aims to ensure the high scalability of future deep learning-based mass spectrometry distributed databases. In the performance estimation of 256 GPUs, the load imbalance of less than 30% and the parallel efficiency of 60% are achieved. Compared with state-of-the-art, the time cost is reduced by 75%, and the parallel efficiency from 1 to 256 GPUs is 3.6x higher than that.

A 3 x 3 textile integrated force-sensor array is presented that is based on the cross coupling of optical fibers and provides multi-touch capability. The force sensing relies on cross coupling between two fibers that are aligned orthogonally to each other. The actual coupling is improved by an increased contact area and higher scattering at the fiber crossing. A systematic analysis of different parameters is done for the driving and the sensing fiber, which involves materials, size, fabrication parameters as well as the cross-section shape. The results reveal that the combination of a rather stiff driving fiber and a flexible sensing fiber from elastomer (TPU) lead to the highest sensitivities in the range of 45.5 pW/N. The application of non-circular cross sections can improve the coupling efficiency by directing the side-emitted light better towards the sensing fiber. A trilobal-shaped driving fiber lead to an increase of 5 dBs, whereas the shaping of the sensing fiber improved the efficiency by another 7.5 dB.

Monitoring air quality is quintessential for maintaining sound human health. In our work, a p-p heterojunction device based on FexNi(1-x)O/NiO was fabricated via mild solvent based approach. The device was subjected to calculated concentrations of VOC vapors (viz. 2-propanol, toluene and formaldehyde) at varying operating temperatures between 150 degrees C and 350 degrees C. It was seen that the sensor could be made selective towards the different VOCs (e.g. 2-propanol at 200 degrees C, toluene at 250 degrees C and formaldehyde at 300 degrees C) by tuning the operating temperature. The sensor response was maximum for formaldehyde (2.1 with 76 ppm) and was found to be reasonably fast (response time 58 sec and recovery time 46 sec). The theoretical LOD was obtained as 0.77 ppm for 2-propanol, 0.83 ppm for toluene and 0.78 ppm for formaldehyde. Thus, it was possible for selectively sense different VOCs by a single sensor device by varying its operating temperature which may introduce a smart sensing solution with high market feasibility in the future.

Big data analytics is having a profound impact on many sectors of the economy by transforming raw data into actionable intelligence. However, increased use of sensitive business and private personal data with no or limited privacy safeguards has raised great concerns among individuals and government regulators. To address the growing tension between the need for data utility and the demand for data privacy, trusted execution environment (TEE) is being used in academic research as well as industrial application as a powerful primitive to enable confidential computation on the private data with only the result disclosed but not the original private data. While much of the current research has been focusing on protecting the TEE against attacks (e.g. side-channel information leakage), the security and privacy of the applications executing inside a TEE enclave has received little attention. The general attitude is that the application is running inside a trusted computing base (TCB), and therefore can be trusted. This assumption may not be valid when it comes to unverified third-party applications. In this paper, we present PrivacyScope, a static code analyzer designed to detect leakage of private data by an application code running in a TEE. PrivacyScope accomplishes this by analyzing the application code and identifying violations of a property called nonreversibility. We introduce nonreversibility since the classical noninterference property falls short of detecting private data leakage in certain scenarios, e.g., in machine learning (ML) programs where the program output is always related to (private) input data. Given its strict reliance on observable state, the non-interference falls short of detecting private data leakage in these situations. By design, PrivacyScope detects both explicit and implicit information leakage. The nonreversibility property is formally defined based on the noninterference property. Cropping systems concerns are increasing significantly in semi-arid and arid areas. In order to maximize the productivity while saving water, the barrier of site-specific irrigation management can be solved. This is done by using in-field distributed sensor-based irrigation system. The main aim of this paper is to highlight the details and instrumentation of various controls. They are variable rate irrigation, wireless sensor network. For monitoring the real-time in-field sensing and control of a site-specific precision linear-move irrigation system a software is used. According to the soil property map, six in-field sensor stations are used to monitor the field conditions. The report of thesemonitoring data is periodically sampled and transmitted to base station. Geo-referenced location of sprinklers is updated timely with the help of logic programmable controllers [1]. ZigBee communication enables the interfacing of communication signals from sensor network and irrigation controller to the base station. stable remote access to field conditions and monitoring and real-time control of variable rate irrigation controller is achieved. A graphic user interface-based software is used for this.
