The game of life, a cellular automation model, is based on the principles of emergence and self-organization. It is a zero-player game that plays out on the basis of its initial state only with the help of some simple rules. It is an infinite computational process which may generate complex patterns over time. In this paper, we propose and compare 2 different methods along with their architectures to optimize the functioning of the existing method. The first method uses OpenMP which works on the fundamentals of shared memory architecture whereas the second method uses MPI which in turn uses message passing techniques on distributed memory systems. © 2020 ieee.

Laser-Assisted Fabrication of a Highly Sensitive and Flexible Micro Pyramid-structured Pressure sensor for E-Skin Applications

A novel capacitive pressure sensor based on micro-structured polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) dielectric layer was developed for wearable E-skin and touch sensing applications. The pressure sensor was fabricated on a flexible polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate, using PDMS and silver (Ag) as the dielectric and electrode layers, respectively. A set of PDMS films with pyramid shaped micro-structures were fabricated using a laser engraved acrylic mold. The electrodes (top and bottom) were fabricated by depositing Ag on PET films using additive screen-printing process. The pressure sensor was assembled by attaching the top and bottom Ag electrodes to the smooth side of pyramid shaped micro-structured PDMS (PM-PDMS) films. The top PM-PDMS was then placed on the bottom PM-PDMS. The capability of the fabricated pressure sensor was investigated by subjecting the sensor to pressures ranging from 0 to 10 kPa. A sensitivity of 0.221% Pa-1, 0.033% Pa-1 and 0.011% Pa-1 along with a correlation coefficient of 0.9536, 0.9586 and 0.9826 was obtained for the pressure sensor in the pressure range of 0 Pa to 100 Pa, 100 Pa to 1000 Pa, and 1 kPa to 10 kPa, respectively. The pressure sensor also possesses a fast response time of 50 ms, low hysteresis of 0.7%, recovery time of 150 ms and excellent cycling stability over 1000 cycles. The results demonstrated the efficient detection of pressure generated fromvarious activities such as hand gesture and carotid pulse measurement. The PM-PDMS based pressure sensor offers a simple and cost-effective approach to monitor pressure in E-skin applications.

The increase in pollution levels in water bodies has made water scarce for agricultural needs. Technology in irrigation not only overcomes this rising problem but also increases the efficiency of the farmers, thereby increasing the Gross Domestic Product of a country. This paper aims at using IoT in indoor irrigation methods to control the wastage of water and increase the efficiency of the soil. The proposed system reads the sensor data and handles water automatically (using relay motors and sprinklers) through a Control System board. A WiFi module is used for communication between sensors and base stations. Continuous detected information dealing with and showing on the server is cultivated using graphical UI. Remote checking of the field water system framework decreases human intercession and permits remote observing and controlling on the android phone. distributed computing is an alluring answer for the huge measure of information created by the remote sensor arrangement. This paper proposes and assesses a cloud-based remote correspondence framework to screen and control a lot of sensors and actuators to evaluate the plants' water needs. A light source powered by solar energy is used to manage the temperature of the soil according to season/crop needs. © 2020 ieee.

Knitwear is the second largest product category in the traditional clothing industry. The traditional clothing product supply chain is difficult to meet consumer's demand of fast fashion. AI and industrial Internet technology, together with intelligent knitting equipments make C2M flexible supply chain possible through digitization. distributed cloud factory is built as regional node of production supported by digital twin and parallel intelligence. Personalized needs of end consumers can be quickly responded, and the cost is close to traditional large-scale assembly line. Parallel manufacturing applies industrial robots, Internet of things, cloud computing, AR and AI technologies comprehensively to build virtual factory in Cloud that carries out decision-making and management simultaneously, with highly automated production equipments in workshop. Meanwhile, it combines with smart knitting factories to build a global distributed collaborative production management platform based on parallel manufacturing architecture system through virtual reality interaction, distributed manufacturing, managed and controlled through Cloud. Intelligent upgrading of traditional knitting industry can effectively improve labor productivity, reduce production cost and number of employees.

Cloud computing is the emerging way of computing that is being used by wide range of users. At present 80 % of workload is on cloud. There are many safety risks in cloud computing, 'Cloud Security Alliance' (CSA) listed top 7 security threats as Maltreat and Obnoxious utilization of cloud, Uncertain API, Vicious Infiltrators, distributed mechanism challenges, Information drop, Unidentified Risk Report and Account, Service and Traffic Hijacking. An IT company spends 42 percent of its funds for the security of cloud and 80 percent of the funds will be bounded to attain the solution to security issues. Researchers have proposed no. of solutions to cloud security. Proposed solutions fall under three primary categories, Cryptographic, data storage and data semantics. In this paper we have reviewed the concerns in cloud computing with some of the subsequent proposed models to tackle the security issues in cloud computing. © 2020 ieee.

In many applications wireless sensor networks are used and are installed in hostile environment for sensing different data. To secure data, cryptographic techniques are used. The sensor nodes in the network are distributed randomly in the network and these communicate with the node present within the range of the node. In order to have secure communication by maintaining confidentiality and authentication, key predistribution technique is used. Key predistribution also reduces the memory overhead of storing the key information in the sensor node. In this method key is predistributed in the network before communication. The paper proposes key predistribution method based on matrix decomposition technique known as Cholesky decomposition technique. In this method the key matrix decomposes into lower and upper triangular matrix. The upper triangular matrix is the transpose of lower triangular matrix. Each node stores the row and column information. The nodes involve in communication exchange the row information of the decomposed matrix to generate the secret key which is used for secure message communication. This method provides better key connectivity and also needs less memory to store the polynomial store in the node to generate the key.

With the increasing size of Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) and datasets, DNN training will consume a lot of time. Various distributed strategies have been utilized to speed up the training process. Nevertheless, the frequent communication between different computational nodes dramatically limits the scale of the cluster. Currently, many gradient compression methods (e.g., Sparsification, Quantization, Low-Rank) have been proposed to optimize the transmission process. Since each layer needs to be processed and compressed respectively before transmission, a rash of time-consuming tensor operations is demanded. To alleviate this issue, we propose a layer-based sparsification method, which stems from the observation that the learning efficiency and convergence speed of different layers of DNN is different during the training process. Instead of compressing all gradients in an iteration, some layers are preferentially selected using a well-designed sliding window, which largely avoids unnecessary tensor operations. The sliding window is adjusted according to the dynamic characteristics of the parameter during the DNN training. Extensive experiments on one Text task and two Image Classification tasks are conducted to validate the efficiency of the proposed method in the same environment configuration, where the gradient compression adopts the layer-based sparsification and the other three comparative state-of-the-art methods. The total training time, communication time, and model accuracy are collected and analyzed. Sufficient experimental results demonstrate that both training and communication time can be greatly reduced, which is especially up to 60% in some cases. Additionally, despite slightly decreased within 1% model quality, the results indicate that the improvement in throughput can be as high as 50%.

One-cycle control (OCC) inverters are becoming a popular option for grid connected PV systems because of their simple, PLL free, and voltage sensor-less structure. sensor-less inverters can increase the reliability of the system and reduces the hardware cost and mounting space. However, operating the inverter with bipolar modulation results in increased switching losses and filter size compared with other modulation schemes. To overcome this, voltage sensor-less OCC based H-bridge inverter which utilize unipolar or hybrid scheme to trigger the inverter has been proposed in this paper. The proposed unipolar scheme reduces the filter size and with the hybrid scheme, the switching losses and cost of the operating switches can be reduced. Detailed comparison studies of the three modulation schemes based on filter size, harmonic content and transformer-less inverter application are performed. Simulation studies have been performed to validate the proposed sensor-less OCC based inverters. © 2020 ieee.

With the onset of dementia primarily, but not exclusively, on elders and the lack of pharmaceutical treatment, lifestyle monitoring through technology seems to be a prominent solution. The human effort, error and cost imposed by close monitoring can be largely mitigated by promising eHealth technological solutions. Wearable, wristband or wristwatch, trackers are flooding the retail market at affordable prices. However, their acceptability and effectiveness for clinical purposes and especially the growing elderly population and their caregivers are still being investigated. This explorative study aims to answer such questions after carefully designing a questionnaire tailored to 45 end-users distributed in three groups of 15 participants each: healthcare professionals (HCP), caregivers and people with Mild Cognitive impairment (MCI) related to AD. Findings include that HCP, caregivers and MCI participants are willing to adopt eHealth solutions based on wearables in order to assist in daily care through holistic and objective monitoring as well as the difficulties, peculiarities and priorities they are aspiring to alleviate through such systems.

Localization or positioning is an important aspect in wireless sensor network (WSN). In WSN sensor nodes are generally distributed randomly and to embed GPS module to all the nodes make the implementation more costly. But finding the position accurately is very much necessary in some of the cases like forest fire detection, animal monitoring etc. In this respect machine learning approach may play an important role. In this article a comprehensive literature review is done on machine learning techniques and a novel machine learning based self-localization technique is proposed. © 2020 ieee.
