We consider distributed Kalman filter for dynamic state estimation over wireless sensor networks. It is promising but challenging when network is under cyber attacks. Since the information exchange between nodes, the malicious attacks quickly spread across the entire network, which causing large measurement errors and even to the collapse of sensor networks. Aiming at the malicious network attack, a trust-based distributed processing frame is proposed. Which allows neighbor nodes to exchange information, and a series of trusted nodes are found using truth discovery. As a demonstration, distributed Cooperative Localization is considered, and numerical results are provided to evaluate the performance of the proposed approach by considering random, false data injection and replay attacks. © 2019 ieee.

Using a mobile charger to wirelessly charge sensors is a promising yet not well-solved technique. Existing trajectory planning schemes for wireless charger either (1) fail to optimize the one-to-many characteristic of wireless charging or (2) fail to jointly optimize the charger movement cost and the charging cost. The objective of this paper is to find the optimal trajectory planning for a mobile charger in terms of energy minimization in the quadratic attenuation charging model. There exists a trade-off between charging efficiency and trajectory distance. If the mobile charger comes close to sensors, the charging efficiency is high, but the entire charging trajectory of the charger will be long and vice versa. To address this trade-off, we propose the idea of charging bundle and optimize the charger's trajectory based on the charging bundle rather than each sensor. The optimal charging bundle generation problem and the bundle trajectory optimization problem are discussed gradually. Both of them are proven to be NP-hard. Then, we first propose a greedy bundle generation algorithm with an approximation ratio of In n, where n is the number of sensors. After that, we propose a TSP-based solution and further optimize the TSP-trajectory by jointly considering the adjacent charging locations. Theorems are proposed to effectively find the optimal location. Extensive experiments show that our scheme achieves a much better performance than traditional schemes.

Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems are increasing in the power system day by day. These micropower sources are located in the distribution system at low voltage levels. These are also called type 1 distributed generations (DGs) as they generally supply real power to the system. Optimal location and sizing of the DGs are important as it will influence the power loss and voltage profile in the distribution network. The optimal location is found using loss sensitivity factor and sensitivity indices. The optimal size is found using successive sizing method and sensitivity factor method. Therefore, the present work develops an algorithm to solve the optimal allocation of DGs for ieee 33 radial distribution test system. The power losses and voltage profile of the distribution network are found using forward and backward sweep methods. The power loss and voltage profile of the test system are calculated and presented without and with DGs. © 2020, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Vibration in electrical and mechanical systems is an important parameter which is related to the systems health, stability and efficiency. In practical condition, the system is distributed and most of the time unreachable during their operating time. In this paper, triple axis wireless vibration monitoring system for distributed system is described. The system also includes development of real time graphical user interface with MATLAB. Here triple axis accelerometer ADXL335 is used for acceleration measurement, cost effective ARM M4 processor TM4C123GXL is used as processing unit and low power Zigbee transceiver is used to transfer the vibration data. To prevent data tapping, the data is encrypted by Advanced Encryption standard (AES) algorithm in sending side and then decrypted in receiver end. The overall latency of the system is also measured. The received signal strength based performance analysis is also done where the RSSI value is approximately-43dBm at 587.94m distance. The system is tested for vibration measurement of a single phase induction motor.

stretching is one of the most prevalent phenomena that exists in our daily life. In general, detection of mechanical stretching is performed using piezoresistive effect. Here, we report an autonomous contactless stretch sensor for detection of varying electric field based on electret technology. By using a nanoparticle filled stretchable polymeric membrane floating in between the fixed electrode pairs, the charge storage capacity was enhanced by 350% and a peak amplitude of 0.18 V is detected autonomously under low frequency 10% cyclic tensile strain variation without any external power source.

This paper studies the application of distributed and centralized solutions for voltage control in low voltage (LV) grids with high photovoltaic (PV) penetration. In traditional LV grids, the coordination of distributed PV converters and a centralized device would require massive investments in new communication and control infrastructures. The alternative of exploiting distributed PV converters for voltage control is discussed, showing that it can help to stabilize the voltage in the grid connection points also without coordination between them and/or with a centralized unit. The goal of this paper is to investigate how the setup of the voltage controllers inside PV inverters affects the operation of these controllers taking into account the limits for reactive power injection. In addition, the interaction of distributed PV converters with centralized devices (static var compensators and on load tap changers) is analyzed to assess whether additional benefits may come in these cases.

Internet-of-Things (IoT) sensors have become cheaper and more ubiquitous than ever [1]. From smart thermometers to home assistants and smartphones, massive amounts of data are being streamed in real-time by sensors that are continuously connected to the web. However, these data tend to be amassed in private silos that are difficult to access. Many private companies and public institutions could build valuable services with these data but so far few solutions have been proposed on how to bridge this gap. In this paper we introduce Hermes, a platform for trading sensor data using distributed ledgers as intermediaries to add safeguards against malicious behavior.

Wireless Rechargeable sensor Network (WRSN) becomes a hot research issue in recent years owing to the breakthrough of wireless power transfer technology. Most prior arts concentrate on developing scheduling schemes in 2-D networks where mobile chargers are placed on the ground. However, few of them are suitable for 3-D scenarios, making it difficult or even impossible to popularize in practical applications. In this paper, we focus on the problem of charging a 3-D WRSN with an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) to maximize charged energy within energy constraints. To deal with the problem, we propose a spatial discretization scheme to obtain a finite feasible charging spot set for UAV in 3-D environment and a temporal discretization scheme to determine charging duration for each charging spot. Then, we transform the problem into a submodular maximization problem with routing constraints, and present a cost-efficient approximation algorithm with a provable approximation ratio of e-1/4e(1 - epsilon) to solve it. Lastly, extensive simulations and test-bed experiments show the superior performance of our algorithm.

Analyze the security threats faced by wireless sensors and summarize the causes of security threats. A security protection system for wireless sensor networks is proposed, which adopts 'three layers of defense under one center'. Establish a proactive defense system for trusted computing environments, trusted zone boundaries, and trusted communication networks under the management of a trusted security management center;to ensure that the computing environments of wireless sensors, wireless access points, and service servers are trusted, As well as the interconnection between different devices, based on the idea of trusted computing, a trusted enhancement framework for three types of devices is proposed. Finally, the trust transfer model of embedded system is built to provide a basis for the safe start and operation of wireless sensors. © 2019 ieee.

The paper presents a new approach to implementation of intelligent distributed scanning and analytical processing of Web-content for detection of the Internet inappropriate information. The offered architecture of the component of the intelligent distributed scanners eliminates restrictions on capacity and localization of scanners in network by decentralized management of loading. The offered architecture of the component of analytical processing uses a set of the binary qualifiers based on machine learning methods. Experimental assessment of the proposed solutions showed their high efficiency on the classifier training time and on the completeness and the accuracy of inappropriate information detection.
