A unique requirement of flexible electronic systems is the need to simultaneously optimize their electrical and mechanical performance. Amorphous InGaZnO thin-film transistors (TFTs) fabricated on free-standing large-area plastic substrates address this issue by providing a carrier mobility >10 cm 2 /Vs, and bendability down to radii as small as 25 μm. At the same time, limitations such as a constrained minimum lateral feature size, the lack of appropriate p-type materials, or the influence of strain have to be considered when designing circuits. Here, models describing the scaling and bending behavior of flexible InGaZnO TFTs, together with the design of strain insensitive circuits operating at megahertz frequencies are presented.

A cooperative network defense is one approach to fend off large-scale distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks. In this regard, the Blockchain Signaling System (BloSS) is a multi-domain, blockchain-based, cooperative DDoS defense system, where each Autonomous System (AS) is taking part in the defense alliance. Each AS can exchange attack information about ongoing attacks via the Ethereum blockchain. However, the currently operational implementation of BloSS is not interactive or visualized, but the DDoS mitigation is automated. In real-world defense systems, a human cybersecurity analyst decides whether a DDoS threat should be mitigated or not. Thus, this work presents the design of a security management dashboard for BloSS, designed for interactive use by cybersecurity analysts.

In this paper, we introduce a new graph structure named an st-reachable directed acyclic graph which is a directed acyclic graph (DAG) that guarantees reachability from every sender to every target (i.e., a directed path exists). When an arbitrary connected undirected graph G=(V,E) and two sets of the vertices, senders S (⊂ V) and targets T (⊂ V), are given, we consider construction of a minimal st-reachable DAG by changing some undirected edges to arcs and removing the remaining edges. This implies that every node in T is reachable from every node in S on the constructed st-reachable DAG. In particular, our goals are (1) to find the necessary and sufficient condition that an st-reachable DAG can be constructed, and (2) to design a self-stabilizing algorithm for constructing a minimal st-reachable DAG (if exists). In this paper, we present the necessary and sufficient condition that a minimal st-reachable DAG can be constructed when S ≤ 2 and |T| ≤ 2, and propose a self-stabilizing algorithm to construct an st-reachable DAG (if exists) when an arbitrary connected undirected graph, S (|S| ≤ 2) and T (|T| ≤ 2) are given. Moreover, our proposed algorithm can detect the non-existence of st-reachable DAG if there exists no st-reachable DAG of the given graph and two sets of vertices, S and T. © 2019 ieee.

This paper describes the deployment of the Mobile Opportunistic Disconnection-Tolerant Networks and systems platform in heterogeneous real-world scenarios. Our aim is to prototype and test fully-distributed multi-layer complex DTN forwarding and processing algorithms in different real-time dynamic topologies with varying mobility, network resources and data workload (publish-subscribe) patterns. In this work, we describe two different real-world contexts of mobile heterogeneous sensing and query in disconnection-prone environments: 1) networked drones and vehicles for agricultural monitoring applications and 2) vehicles and drone communications for smart city applications in urban environments. We discuss the performance characteristics of different mobile disconnection prone communication protocols and dynamic architectures across a range of criteria.

As datasets have been increased in sizes, parallelization strategies (i.e., model parallelization and data parallelization) are actively used for distributed deep learning training. In particular, data parallelization which partitions the input samples is commonly used to distributely train deep neural networks. However, if the data are sensitive in terms of security/privacy and the data have constraints on sharing among multiple computing nodes, it is hard to apply these conventional strategies. In this study, we propose a method that sequentially sharing models in cyclic order during training procedures in order to train deep neural networks while preserving the privacy of datasets. In addition, we discuss practical considerations that can be improved in two-folds, i.e., (i) dataset imbalance problem and (ii) efficient usage of computational resources of idle agents.

FiC (Flow-in-Cloud) is a multi-FPGA system to achieve monolithic large scale FPGA with across multiple FPGAs for computational-heavy applications. The FiC system employs multiple economical mid-range FPGAs and connect them directly with flexible and high bandwidth interconnection network. We developed FiCSW board as a 1st generation of FPGA board in the FiC project. The FiCSW design, since the FPGA is used as both computational resource and the network circuit switch, there are no host server for FPGA needed like other server-based multi FPGA architecture. This design strategy helps scalable FPGA fabric in low-cost. However, from the system manageability's perspective, the strategy is hard to handle multiple FPGA nodes without management system. In this paper, we mainly focused on the management system on the FiCSW multi-FPGA system, introducing the system architecture and implementation, and working application on the FiCSW prototype system.

Plant-wide processes are usually characterized by large-scale, multiple operating units and complex interactions, and effective monitoring for such processes is imperative. Traditional data-driven methods have some limitations due to the neglect of internal relationships between operating units. This paper proposes a distributed system monitoring and diagnostic framework based on causal graphical model. Firstly, the process decomposition of complex systems is carried out by combining process mechanism knowledge and process data. An intelligent optimization algorithm based the monitoring performance indices is used to find the best decomposition and achieve optimal fault detection. Secondly, the multivariate causal model is used to establish the causal relationship of the operating units in each module, and the overall network structure can be obtained by variable connection between modules. Finally, system anomalies are detected by changes in the probability density of observed variables. The proposed method is applied to the Tennessee Eastman (TE) simulation platform for verification. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the method.

Testing of distributed systems is a complex task, which is hampered by the impossibility of guaranteed reproduction of errors associated with race conditions. Even minor instrumentation of the system significantly changes its characteristics, which becomes critical, especially for load testing. All of that increases the importance of quality control methods based on the system log analysis. In this paper, we present our experience of semi-automated analysis of the behavior of clearing and settlement system by utilizing its logs for the purpose of identifying and classifying errors.

Brushless DC (BLDC) Motors are widely used in electric vehicles because of its excellent controllability. Controllability is obtained with the help of hall sensors. So dynamic analysis considering both normal and fault cases in hall sensor is very important in determining the performance of BLDC motor. This paper proposes a fault diagnostic procedure for hall sensor failures in BLDC motor drive. The faulty hall sensors results in improper switching sequence which in turn results in torque pulsations and deteriorates the motor performance. The stator current behaviour depends on the hall signals, so in this paper we have taken stator current as the parameter for diagnosing the fault. stockwell Transform(S-Transform) is used for diagnosing the faults from the stator current. The features obtained from S-Transform analysis are used for detecting and classifying the faults associated with the hall sensors. The simulation and Hardware studies were carried out to validate the proposed fault diagnosis procedure. © 2019 ieee.

Clustering is a popular research area in designing routing protocols in the field of wireless sensor network. This paper proposes an agent cluster based routing protocol which will subdivide the cluster into independent subgroups according to the satisfaction list. The independent sub groups are associated with an agent node that can communicate to the cluster head. The proposed agent cluster based routing algorithm is created keeping into consideration to reduce the energy consumption while transmitting data from node to cluster head. The agent node is chosen based on the satisfaction list which reduces the chances of agent node die out problem thus enhancing the network reliability and lifetime. Applications such as green house, agriculture field monitoring, where reliability and energy efficiency more important than data transmission rate this proposed protocol is suitable to implement. © 2019 ieee.
