In recent times, the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into higher education has surged, marking a significant shift in teaching and learning methodologies. These include customized tutoring platforms, adaptive and smart tutoring systems, data analytics tools, virtual assistants tailored for academic use, curriculum design and development software, collaborative learning platforms, assessment, and feedback tools, as well as discussions on the ethical implications of AI adoption in higher education. The discussion emphasizes that the thoughtful inclusion of AI not only refines pedagogical methodologies but also facilitates the extensive coverage of contemporary educational strategies. The chapter strategically examines current applications of AI tools, presents successful case studies illustrating their impact, and envisions potential future developments. Educators also prioritize fostering critical thinking and digital literacy skills in students to enable them to engage with AI responsibly. Additionally, collaborative projects, hands-on learning opportunities, and interdisciplinary approaches are encouraged to prompt students to explore AI’s societal impacts and applications across various fields. Through these strategies, higher education institutions seek to equip students for the AI-driven workforce while fostering innovation and creativity in educational practices. Phishing attacks have become a serious problem for users of online banking and e-commerce websites. A previous study proposed and evaluated a novel anti-Phishing approach that uses training intervention for Phishing websites detection (APTIPWD). The proposed approach showed that it helped users to make correct decisions in distinguishing Phishing and legitimate websites. In this paper, an approach to the implementation of the APTIPWD is presented. It also shows that the APTIPWD is feasible and can be implemented within any proxy-based network easily without writing a single line of a programming code and without undue disruption of the users system.

Network Management faces major challenges nowadays. Management applications have not kept the changing pace of networks and services and still rely on centralized approaches. Moreover, uncertainty is part of the reality. This paper presents a lightweight collaborative approach to network troubleshooting, based in multi agents and probabilistic techniques. The proposed architecture has been applied to three different network environments.

This study focuses on online collaborative learning. The main objective is to analyze how and why the students who start studying at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) use the wild as a tool in order to develop a virtual project in small groups (3-5 members). starting from a qualitative point of view, we analyzed a pilot test where wild was introduced for collaborative work in the Digital Literacy subject. Two different student profiles were involved in this study: students from Computer Engineering and Psychology. The outcomes show that there are several factors that affect how students use the wild. At the same time, the most important aspects of the wild to construct a virtual project are analyzed.

This article describes the experience related with the e-Catalunya platform, a social network and web 2.0 collaborative environment developed in Catalonia (Spain) in order to improve the transparency of administration and government and to increase participation of citizens. The platform is being continuously improved, offering a set of collaboration tools and a powerful administration environment that makes it easy to configure to suit the different collectives' needs. The e-Catalunya platform is a key element in the strategy of the Catalan government towards providing web 2.0 based services and to boost communities of practice.

A parse tree contains rich syntactic structured information, and the structured features have been proved effective in relation extraction. In this paper, we proposed another way to efficiently utilize structured features but in a weakly learning way. Co-training algorithm was chosen by us, the structured features were set to be one view of it, and the flat features were set to be the other. Through using co-training algorithm, we can combine both flat and structured information for relation extraction.

This article addresses issues related to traces modelling and visualisation in synchronous collaborative learning. The objective is to propose models and tools for representing, transforming, sharing and visualizing traces of users' experiences. The traces here represent the users' activities in their interactions with the learning platform. Our proposition is based on reflexive learning defined as the ability to interact with the situation, in order to meet one's own limitations. This work takes place in the ITHACA project which aims at developing an online learning platform that uses interaction traces as knowledge sources on, and for, the learners' learning as individuals or groups. In this paper, we propose a general framework for trace management and sharing, a generic model of synchronous collaborative activity based on the notion of interaction modes, which we specialized for whiteboard sharing and text chatting. We modelled an IRC client and developed a first implementation.

computer supported collaborative Work (CSCW) has been a hot point in researches for some decades. Recent advances in software and hardware technologies have allowed the use of more and more advanced applications and services. It also brought computing capabilities to mobile devices such as smartphones and laptops. This has led to an extensive use of computers to collaborate in some unexpected manners. To support this collaboration, numerous models have been designed and tried. Among these models, some particularly caught our attention: models based on the description of tasks, role-based models and collaboration's context models. Simultaneously major advances were made in the young pervasive computing domain. We propose a role-based model, which aims at modelling the cooperation between devices to support pervasive collaborative work. Leading to the emergence of the Pervasive Computing Supported collaborative Work (PCSCW).

The question of whether intelligence can be attributed to groups or not has been raised in many scientific disciplines. In the field of computer-supported collaborative learning, this question has been examined to understand how computer-mediated environments can augment human cognition and learning on a group level. The era of social computing which represents the emergence of Web 2.0 collaborative technologies and social media has stimulated a wide discussion about collective intelligence and the global brain. This paper reviews the theory of distributed cognition in the light of these concepts in an attempt to analyze and understand the emergence process of intelligence that takes place in the context of computer-mediated collaborative and social media environments. It concludes by showing that the cognitive organization, which occurs within social interactions serves as a catalyst for intelligence to emerge on a group level. Also a process model has been developed to show the process of collaborative knowledge construction in Wikipedia that characterizes such cognitive organization.

We propose a fault management method in functionally distributed transport networking that separates the control-plane processing part (control element, CE) from the forwarding-plane processing part (forwarding element, FE) of the router. In this architecture, one path-control process in the CE consolidates and processes the path computations and the path settings for multiple routers. This leads to reduction in the path-control complexity and efficient operation of large scale networks. On the other hand, if faults occur in a CE and the CE become unable to serve a routing function, all of the FEs controlled by the CE will be affected. Therefore, it is absolutely critical to ensure the high reliability of the CE in this architecture. The proposed method takes the redundant configuration of N+m CEs and switches from a fault CE to a standby CE. Additionally, we describe the operation of each component in the proposed method and evaluate its feasibility by using software implementation.
