Dog clutch is a type of mechanical clutch that are widely used in automotive transmissions for their ability to engage and disengage gear pairs rapidly between two rotating shafts or components without slippage, providing a direct mechanical connection. They offer positive no-slip engagement, higher efficiency, durability and can handle high torques. A real-time dog clutch model is necessary in software validation of transmission used in Electric Vehicles (EVs) on Hardware in Loop (HiL) testing platform to ensures the data exchanged between electronic control unit (ECU) and the virtual environment occurs at the same rate as the actual system's operation, making the simulation as close to real-world performance as possible in a time-synchronized manner. However, modelling the behaviour of such dog clutch poses unique challenges due to their nonlinear dynamics, high-impact engagements, and as it needs precise control during shift operations. This paper describes a robust physics-based model of the dog clutch developed in MATLAB/Simulink suitable for testing the behaviour of transmission ECU on HiL testbench. Dog Clutch engagement process comprises of four primary states. Each state exhibit distinct dynamic behaviour. Dog clutch is modelled in two parts - first part is to simulate the model of dog clutch engagement and disengagement and second part explains modelling of dog clutch integrated with the automatic transmission system. Finally, the model was validated using data collected from the testbed measurements. Furthermore, the simulated results for engagement, disengagement and the transitions among the intermittent states of dog clutch were validated by comparing with actual measurement from testbeds. Such modelling methodology of dog clutch can be used on HiL which plays an important role in verification & validation (V & V) in development phase of EVs. © 2025 IEEE.

This study introduces a robust machine learning pipeline for event classification, utilizing a large-scale dataset from eight Google Borg compute clusters (May 2019) available via Google Big- Query. The dataset includes detailed job submissions, scheduling decisions, and resource usage data, with enhancements such as 5-minute CPU usage histograms, shared resource reservations, and job-parent relationships critical for MapReduce task analysis. Data preprocessing involves imputation for missing values, label encoding for categorical data, and SMOTE to address the class imbalance. Feature scaling using standardScaler and dimensionality reduction via Principal Component Analysis (PCA) retained 95% of the variance. The dataset was divided into training and testing sets, preserving class distribution. Seven machine learning models were evaluated, spanning linear, non-linear, ensemble, and neural network approaches. The Support Vector Machine (SVM) achieved exceptional performance, with 98.0% accuracy, 97.5% cross-validation score, 98.2% precision, 97.8% recall, and 98.0% F1-score. This study highlights the evolution of workloads and resource usage patterns, contributing to developing scalable and efficient event classification frameworks in cloud computing. © 2025 IEEE.

The experiments, carried on AIRBUS systems, show that testability analysis can ease system formal detailed specifications validation activities. Indeed, testability information can highlight testing efforts, guide functional tests definition, facilitate detailed specification coverage analysis against system requirements, and support tests coverage analysis against formal detailed specification.

The integration of retarding components represents a crucial challenge for reusing component test cases for integration testing. Failing to synchronize both test stimulation and test evaluation easily results in useless test executions missing the actual test objectives. We propose a method for balancing and compensating delays for multi-level test cases. With this approach, reusing component test cases for integration testing becomes possible even in presence of components introducing large delays. It represents a better alternative to test case parameterization.

Depth of Inheritance Tree (DIT) is supposed to be a factor influencing the cost of testing: test would be more expensive if DIT is large. A question is thus to know whether DIT can be used as a predictive metric to estimate the cost of testing. In this paper, we consider the cost of testing as the number of test cases required to achieve the branch coverage, which is a classical criterion for structural testing, and which is given by McCabe's Cyclomatic Complexity metric. We analyzed 25 applications to identify if the DIT is good test cost indicator. This paper shows that DITA is too abstract to be really relevant to predict the cost of testing.

In this paper we discuss an approach for requirements traceability in a model-based testing process. We show how the informal requirements of the system under test evolve and are traced at different steps of the process. More specifically, we discuss how requirements are traced to system specifications and from system specification to tests during the test generation process, and then how the test results are analyzed and traced back the specification of the system. The approach allows us to have both a fast feed-back loop for debugging either the specification or the implementation of the system and a way to estimate the coverage degree of the generated tests with respect to requirements. We discuss tool support for the approach and exemplify with excerpts front a case study in the telecommunications domain.

This paper contributes an analysis of possible pitfalls of automated test execution and provides an novel approach for TTCN-3 test system to manage and recover from errors occurred in the system Under Test (SUT) during test execution. The research problem addressed in this paper is how to facilitate recovery of distributed test system to recover from cascading errors caused by soft-ware faults in the SUT. This research problem is addressed by applying the software fault tolerance techniques in the implementation of the testing environment. Provided solutions for error recovery and management are derived from the software fault tolerance research work carried out during last decades. The presented approach is validated in a prototype TTCN-3 test environment supporting testing of distributed communication systems.

static analysis tools are used for the detection of errors and other problems on source code level. The detected problems related to the internal structure of a software can be removed by source code transformations called refactorings. To automate such source code transformations, refactoring tools are available. In modern integrated development environments, there is a gap between the static analysis tools and the refactoring tools. This paper presents an automated approach for the improvement of the internal quality of software by using the results of code analysis tools to call a refactoring tool to remove detected problems. The approach is generic, thus allowing the combination of arbitrary tools. As a proof of concept, this approach is implemented as a plug-in for the integrated development environment Eclipse.
