Cloud computing, the fastest-growing IT technology, offers flexibility and scalability with pay-per-use models, but it raises concerns about data security due to third-party storage and online accessibility. Effective cloud security measures are crucial for protecting user data. The internet of Things (IoT) generates enormous amounts of data that must be efficiently processed and stored in the cloud. Blockchain technology enhances data security through its tamper-resistant distributed ledger and peer-to-peer networks, which allow any node with internet access to join or create networks. To protect sensitive data and maintain its integrity, it is crucial to implement robust encryption, privacy safeguards, access controls, identity management and confidentiality in both cloud and decentralized systems. © 2024 IEEE.

Cybersecurity Mesh Architecture (CSMA) is a promising new approach to cybersecurity that has the potential to improve network and information security. As networks become more complex and widespread, detecting and responding to threats has become more difficult. It has also led to security creep that leads to complexity of management, fragmentation of visibility, and limits organizations ability to respond effectively to threats. These and similar challenges have made integration with CSMA a necessity for today's organizations. The cybersecurity mesh can be viewed as centralizing security management and distributing the application of this management, but in some completely distributed networks, such as the internet of Things (IoT), Cloud computing, Edge computing, Big Data, etc., the cybersecurity mesh is not compatible with them because it applies the principle of central management. Therefore, the researchers propose, in this paper, to change the cybersecurity mesh architecture. The cybersecurity mesh will be completely distributed using blockchain technology, where the network security infrastructure will first be changed to the blockchain network. After that, blockchain technology will be integrated into each layer of the proposed cybersecurity mesh. Finally, the proposed architecture will be evaluated by ensuring complete distribution and the expected security provided by the cybersecurity mesh. © 2024 IEEE.

The development of the internet of Things (IoT) idea in the form of internet of Vehicles (IoV) has provided a solution to all of the challenges associated with operating a vehicle. The full potential of IoV creates a distributed network of automobiles that cooperate with diverse vehicular systems, addressing numerous issues related to traffic monitoring and road safety measures. Due to their high latency and responsiveness delays, current technologies such as Vehicular Cloud computing, Vehicle Ad hoc Networks (VANET), and Mobile Cloud computing are not optimal. Vehicle Fog computing (VFC), a potential paradigm that combines fog computing and vehicle networks, offers VANETSs an efficient but different approach. Particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is used to route the path optimization which leads to the most efficient routing paths being the best ones in the VANET. VFC boasts several advantages including very high throughput, consuming very little energy, and maintaining energy efficiency, with this hybrid model of Ada Boost and Random Forest Algorithm we get an impressive accuracy of 99.928%. © 2025 the Author(s).

Leader election is a classical problem in distributed systems in which the selection a coordinator node to perform tasks is necessary. However, coordinator can fail and this requires performing a leader election operation to choose a new coordinator. This study focuses on the Bully algorithm which uses a lot of messages and higher network traffic which are considered the main drawback. This paper provides a simple and adaptable adaptive bully algorithm that lowers the messages passing used and is simple and flexible. The algorithm utilizes only one node, called responsibility for the election, and a time span, where a time span is set for each node. These two procedures minimize leader election operations especially discovering failures from multiple processes in the system and messages passing. According to the results, the enhanced algorithm is better than the algorithm bully. It reduces the complexity of message passing during leader election operations. © 2024 IEEE.

Highway congestion is a major obstacle to Saudi Arabia's modernization and economic diversification initiatives. Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) have recently become a practical investment choice. Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANET) allow for transportation system enhancements. In addition, the technology to harness solar power can be considered a viable renewable energy option. Since photovoltaic (PV) panels can produce electricity at scales ranging from microwatts to megawatts;they represent a promising option. Besides, academics and business executives have recently received more attention to distributed computing paradigms. As a result, implementing ITS in KSA necessitates using green technology and distributed computing methods. Therefore, the primary goal of this research is to present a standard design for an internet of Things (IoT)- Fog computing-based PV system, including Solar photovoltaic panels, batteries, an MPPT charger, LED drivers, a microcontroller (MCU), IoT devices, and distributed computing approaches. © 2023 IEEE.

distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks are among the most dangerous threats in cyberspace impacting areas such as the internet of Things (IoT), Cybersecurity, and Cloud computing, which leads to network interruptions. DDoS attacks target IoT environments by manipulating IoT networks, consuming resources and interrupting services, leading to privacy challenges and performance degradation. However, accurate detection of DDoS attacks is difficult, due to their various DDoS attack types, heterogeneity of network security and complexity of communication protocols. Advanced Deep Learning (DL) approaches have been employed for effective detection of DDoS attacks while reducing false-positive rates and improving high detection rates of the different network traffic patterns. The DL algorithms such as Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), Bidirectional Long-Short Term Memory (Bi-LstM), Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN), and Deep Neural Networks (DNN) are used for the detection of DDoS attacks. This survey focuses on analyzing the advantages and limitations of different DL algorithms used for DDoS attack detection. The performance of the DL models is evaluated based on performance metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. © 2024 IEEE.

The proliferation of loT -enabled gadgets means that ever more information is being created and transmitted over the web. The release of sensitive loT data, however, is a privacy breach. Sensitive information generated by loT devices poses a serious security risk since it is transmitted across an unsecured network. The storage issue may be managed with the help of an external cloud. Cloud storage has the potential to compromise users' privacy. To prevent unauthorised access and maintain confidentiality during data transmission, current systems include symmetric encryption and access restrictions. Blockchain is an exciting distributed ledger technology with the potential to safeguard stored information against manipulation by unscrupulous actors. To protect information from internet of Things devices, this article suggests using a blockchain-based decentralised access control system. Fog computing and the idea of an alliance chain provide the basis for the suggested approach. In order to encrypt and divide data at the network's edge, fog nodes are employed. Homomorphic encryption is used on the third-party cloud to combine data that has been partitioned and encrypted. The suggested system provides dynamic and granular access control for loT data, mitigating the risk of a single point of failure in access control. Results from experiments showed that this approach effectively protects the confidentiality of data collected from internet of Things devices. © 2023 IEEE.

Modern large-scale mechanical equipment usually has diverse tasks and complex structures. The traditional development and design, task management and operation and maintenance modes are increasingly difficult to meet the practical needs. With the development of computer and information technology, digital twin technology has been proposed and widely concerned. It can realize the interaction and fusion between an object's physical entity and virtual model by establishing a model with multi-physics, multi-scale, multi-level and multi-disciplinary attributes. It has the characteristics of virtual-real synchronization, faithful mapping, and high fidelity, which provides a new way to solve the above problems. Therefore, based on the basic theory and technology of digital twin, taking typical complex equipment as the research object, this paper proposes the overall architecture of digital equipment, summarizes the key technologies of developing digital equipment, and explores several potential application services based on digital twin, such as product design, auxiliary decision-making, intelligent maintenance and health management, to provide theoretical and methodological references for further research and equipment application in the future. © 2023 IEEE.

The rapid development of internet of Things (IoT) technology has provided new opportunities for constructing smart leisure venue management systems. This paper proposes an IoT-based intelligent leisure venue management system, employing a layered architectural design that includes data acquisition, data analysis, intelligent decision-making, and application service layers. The data acquisition layer collects environmental and user behavior data through distributed sensor networks and RFID technology. The data analysis layer utilizes big data processing techniques to achieve real-time data fusion and cleansing. The intelligent decision-making layer optimizes venue operations using reinforcement learning algorithms, while the application service layer offers personalized services and visual interfaces to users and managers. Experimental results demonstrate that the system excels in data acquisition accuracy, real-time processing capability, visitor flow prediction accuracy, and energy consumption optimization, effectively enhancing venue operational efficiency and user satisfaction. The conclusion highlights that the system has room for improvement in handling peak period visitor statistics. Future work will focus on optimizing algorithms and enhancing system scalability to further improve overall performance. © 2025 The Authors.

The internet of Things (IoT) has led to the adoption of fog computing for data-intensive applications that require low-latency processing. Fog computing uses distributed nodes near the network edge to reduce delays and save bandwidth. To optimize resource usage and achieve goals in fog computing, task scheduling plays a crucial role. To tackle this challenge, we propose an approach based on genetic algorithms, inspired by genetics and natural selection. We evaluate GA algorithm based on their ability to complete tasks and prioritize them effectively. The results show that the genetic algorithm performs exceptionally well, completing more tasks and handling priorities efficiently. Its adaptability to changing situations enables optimal resource usage and task completion. Our findings underscore the significance of genetic algorithms in fog computing systems. The insights gained from this study contribute to the advancement of fog computing systems, benefiting IoT applications and services. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.
