In this paper, we present a new model for a peer-to-peer system based on Chord, called Hybrid-Chord, to improve the routing performance and data availability of Chord. Our main focus is on reducing the number of hops that is needed to locate a data item. Through simulations, we demonstrate the improvement of the routing performance and fault tolerance capabilities of the proposed system and compare that with the original Chord system. The hybrid system can reduce the number of lookup hops significantly by up to 50% compared to Chord, is robust and handles node failures better than Chord, can always find the desired data with high probability and has better data availability than Chord. Above all, the hybrid system has same complexity as Chord.

To overcome this problem, this paper presents a framework to develop Web Applications for Mobile Devices. The pyramid network is one of the important architectures in parallel computing, network computing, computer vision, and image processing. The property of pancyclic is a graph or a network, which has cycles with all possible lengths. In this paper, we study the pancyclic property of pyramid networks. First, all possible cycles of the length in the n×n mesh are constructed, where n is even. We then propose an algorithm to construct cycles of all possible lengths in pyramid networks and show that the pyramid network is a pancyclic network. An n-node network containing a cycle of length n is a Hamiltonian network. Thus, the pyramid network is also a Hamiltonian network.

Grids are gaining more importance in this era of internettechnology to maximize the use of resources such as hardware and software infrastructure. The grid provides a platform to share information across the Net. Any application on the grid should be able to share available resources concurrently. In this paper, we present a grid framework for an optimistic resource sharing, which consists of different elements such as authentication, sharing, coordination and synchronization of resources. We discuss issues related to the resource sharing problem and propose a solution to it using reflective computation. Different classes of grid applications are also presented and some scenarios are used to elaborate each of them focusing on underlying issues related to the framework.

Recent years have witnessed an increasing interest in filtering of distributed data streams, such as those produced by networked sensors. The focus is to conserve bandwidth and sensor battery power by limiting the number of updates sent from the source while maintaining an acceptable approximation of the value at the sink. We propose a novel technique called Predictive Filtering. We use matching predictors at the source and the sink simultaneously to predict the next update. The update is streamed only when the difference between the actual and the predicted value at the source increases beyond a threshold. Different predictors can be plugged into our framework, and we present a comparison of the effectiveness of various predictors. Through experiments performed on a bee-motion tracking log we demonstrate the effectiveness of our algorithm in limiting the number of updates while maintaining a good approximation of the streamed data at the sink.
