In the recent decade, many new technologies and problems have attracted attention from research community/scientists. Some problems like imbalanced data-set, security and privacy concerns in various computing environments like internet connected thing (IoTs), cloud computing, distributed computing, etc., have received many innovative ways as efficient answer. But, some problems are still unsolved. Learning from Imbalance dataset with higher accuracy is an essential task/higher priority work in many applications. For handling the class imbalance problems, many extended approaches have been considered for bagging ensembles. In our study we show that application of distance-based approach (DistBagging) for balancing the distribution of each bag in ensemble bagging provides better results for addressing the class imbalance problems. In this work, we propose distance-based approaches for selecting the group of data for each bootstrap method to improve the performance of the classification in terms of accuracy for minority class in the imbalanced class distribution environment. The experimental results show that our distance-based approach outperforms the other ensemble techniques in the previous studies. © 2020 IEEE.

Power generation from solar photovoltaic (PV) plants depends on multiple factors such as solar radiance and ambient temperature. Effective monitoring and control of the energy generated with the solar PV plants may augment the complete performance of the system. The local controllers regulate switching between solar PV, local battery, community battery, and grid according to the availability of power in each system. The sensor data and user information are stored in the cloud that can be accessed with the internet of Things (IoT) device for further computation. A Web-based graphical user interface (GUI) has been developed for appropriate monitoring and control of energy flow and also to enable the power pooling. The app gets information from the cloud on which various sensor’s data regarding energy pooling are stored by the local/community controllers, and it displays the information that is stored in the cloud. The primary task is to design and develop a Web-based application with sufficient data security. To secure the user data in the cloud, multi-factor authentication and symmetric key encryption are used for authorized access and data encryption. The increase in pollution levels in water bodies has made water scarce for agricultural needs. technology in irrigation not only overcomes this rising problem but also increases the efficiency of the farmers, thereby increasing the Gross Domestic Product of a country. This paper aims at using IoT in indoor irrigation methods to control the wastage of water and increase the efficiency of the soil. The proposed system reads the sensor data and handles water automatically (using relay motors and sprinklers) through a Control System board. A WiFi module is used for communication between sensors and base stations. Continuous detected information dealing with and showing on the server is cultivated using graphical UI. Remote checking of the field water system framework decreases human intercession and permits remote observing and controlling on the android phone. distributed computing is an alluring answer for the huge measure of information created by the remote sensor arrangement. This paper proposes and assesses a cloud-based remote correspondence framework to screen and control a lot of sensors and actuators to evaluate the plants' water needs. A light source powered by solar energy is used to manage the temperature of the soil according to season/crop needs. © 2020 IEEE.

This study aimed to find out the usage of internet technology among the pre-service teachers at Faculty of education in Amran University, Yemen. To bring about this aim, a descriptive research design (i.e. survey, and open interview) was used. A constructed questionnaire includes 28 items that were distributed on three domains of the internet usage: Academic, professional and general internet usage. Interview, as an aid tool, was used to explore the reasons beyond why some of the study subjects did not answer the questionnaire. Results of the questionnaire revealed that most of the subjects utilize the internet but not in favor of development their academic, or profession specialization as teachers in the future. On the other hand, the results of the interview showed that reasons beyond why some subjects did not answer the questionnaire were: The absence of internet usage facilities for them as well as the negative attitudes towards its usage. Based on the results of the study, some recommendations were recommended. © 2019 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose a novel architecture that utilizes features of Blockchain, fog computing, and cloud computing to manage IoT data. Blockchain allows to have a distributed peer-to-peer network in which non-trusting participants can interact with each other without a trusted intermediary or third party. We evaluate how this mechanism works to face the challenges of IoT with respect to multiple accessibility to IoT devises. We consider a Blockchain architecture in presence of edge computing layer. With fog or fog computing, the sensitive data can be analyzed locally instead of sending it to the cloud for analysis. Edge nodes can also keep track and control of the IoT devices that collect, analyze and store data. We show that this control can be better executed when Software Defined Network (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) are integrated into our process for optimal resource management. In this paper, we present our system architecture with a detailed description of the different interactions. We remark that the integration of Blockchain, IoT, and edge computing when coupled with SDN and NFV-enabled cloud infrastructure can bring to more superior and efficient platform for accessing, managing, and processing the huge influx of IoT data. © 2019 Association for computing Machinery.

Cloud computing is well-known resource sharing model uses internet to offer several computing and data storage services. Due to distributed resources and their availability for numerous users, the level of complexity for the resource allocation and security accessing, increases. The paper mainly focuses on meta-heuristic approach for resource allocation and data security using data classification approach. In the proposed framework multi-factor verification is applied to verify the user’s credentials prior to data accessing. Encryption at user side not only ensures the integrity but also confidentiality of data. Here MCS (Modified Cuckoo Search), PSEC (Provably Secure Elliptic Curve) encryption and AES (Advanced Encryption standard) is used for resource scheduling, user side encryption, and cloud side encryption respectively for attaining integrity, confidentiality and also efficient computation ability. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2019.

Electrocardiography plays an essential role in diagnosing and screening cardiovascular diseases in daily healthcare. Deep neural networks have shown the potentials to improve the accuracies of arrhythmia detection based on electrocardiograms (ECGs). However, more ECG records with ground truth are needed to promote the development and progression of deep learning techniques in automatic ECG analysis. Here we propose a web-based tool for ECG viewing and annotating, LabelECG. With the facilitation of unified data management, LabelECG is able to distribute large cohorts of ECGs to dozens of technicians and physicians, who can simultaneously make annotations through web-browsers on PCs, tablets and cell phones. Along with the doctors from four hospitals in China, we applied LabelECG to support the annotations of about 15,000 12-lead resting ECG records in three months. These annotated ECGs have successfully supported the First China ECG intelligent Competition. LabelECG will be freely accessible on the internet to support similar researches, and will also be upgraded through future works. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

distributed file system (DFS) is a transformation of traditional file systems to perform file read, write and execution of petabyte or larger-sized datasets with high-velocity and different structures. In order to process these large amounts of data in an inexpensive and efficient way, Hadoop distributed File System (HDFS) is used and designed to scale up from a single server to hundreds of servers, with a very high degree of fault tolerance. Secured and optimized distributed file system for ISP user log management is a centralized log analytics platform that supports collaboration in a distributed environment. DFS for ISP log provides a uniform name space for all ISP along with location independence and location transparency. Any user's internet access log can be accessed and analyzed using apache sparks data brick file system on stored log in DFS. In this paper, at first, limitation of popular DFS like NFS and CIFS is explored. ISP log management, DFS file architecture and security is considered for designing proposed ISP log management system. Finally, simulation on proposed distributed file system and query processing is performed to obtain the desired result related to optimization and security of the proposed distributed log analysis system.

The internet of Things (IoT) is able to connect billions of devices and services at anytime in any place, with various applications. Recently, the IoT became an emerging technology. One of the most significant current research discussion topics on the IoT is about the smart car parking. A modern urban city has over a million of cars on its roads but it does not have enough parking space. Moreover, most of the contemporary researchers propose management of the data on cloud. However, this method may be considered as an issue since the raw data is sent promptly from distributed sensors to the parking area via cloud and then received back after it is processed. This is considered as an expensive technique in terms of the data transmission as well as the energy cost and consumption. While the majority of proposed solutions address the problem of finding unoccupied parking space and ignore some other critical issues such as information about the nearest car parking and the roads traffic congestion, this paper goes beyond and proposes the alternative method. The paper proposes a smart car parking system that will assist users to solve the issue of finding a parking space and to minimise the time spent in searching for the nearest available car park. In addition, it provides users with roads traffic congestion status. Moreover, the proposed system collects the raw data locally and extracts features by applying data filtering and fusion techniques to reduce the transmitted data over the network. After that, the transformed data is sent to the cloud for processing and evaluating by using machine learning algorithms.
