The internet of Things (IoT) has acquired increasing significance in agriculture and food production in recent years, expanding its reach beyond smart city applications. In this comprehensive study, we present a pioneering, exceptionally scalable IoT system specifically tailored for agricultural purposes. This innovative system leverages the Low-Power Wide-Area Network (LoRaWAN) for long-distance, energy-efficient data transmission from sensor nodes to cloud-based services. This IoT solution is underpinned by a highly extensible cloud computing framework that effectively harnesses data streams for in-depth analytics. In the study, we introduce an innovative, highly scalable internet of Things agricultural system. For long-distance and low-power data transfer from the sensor nodes to the cloud services, this system is built on the LoRaWAn network. Our highly scalable cloud computing solution makes use of data streams for analytics. In this case study, we display some early findings for a grape vineyard. © 2023 IEEE.

We present two new assignments in the Peachy Parallel Assignments series of assignments for teaching parallel and distributed computing. Submitted assignments must have been successfully used previously and are selected for being easy for other instructors to adopt and for being "cool and inspirational" so that students spend time on them and talk about them with others. The first assignment in this paper familiarizes students with the RAFT library for performing GPU-accelerated computation, pail of the RAPIDS AI ecosystem. students use this library to accelerate a Radius Nearest Neighbor computation, finding all points within a given distance from a query point. In the second assignment, students parallelize a bird flocking simulation using OpenMP or OpenACC. It is a visual assignment which allows students to readily see the performance improvement.

The word "botnet"blends the words "robot"and "network". The bot master manages the botnet, which allows for remote bot management over the network. The bot master communicates with the bots (infected computers) via IRC C&C channels, from which the bots receive commands and instructions to carry out certain tasks. It spreads to other computers, forming a network. The present paper discusses Mamdani Fuzzy Inference System (FIS) to detect botnets. In contrast to Boolean "true and false"reasoning for fuzzy logic botnet detection, the paper adopts a "degree of truth"approach. The mamdani fuzzy inference system uses the idea of partial truth - where a fact's value might range from totally true to entirely untrue. MATLAB has been used to implement the botnet detection using mamdani fuzzy inference system. The fuzzy regulations were recently adjusted as the data parameters have changed. © 2024 IEEE.

A network of embedded computing devices that can gather, transmit, and store data independently of humans or computers is called the internet of Things (IoT). Health care services, including those involved in preventing various types of illness, predicting diseases and its related treatment. Patient condition can be monitored at every place whether in hospital or out of it. Politicians and government officials throughout the world are responding to the worldwide impact of COVID-19 by launching programs to increase access to healthcare through technology innovations. It is critical to comprehend how the internet of Things (IoT) now and in the future may assist healthcare systems in providing effective and safe medication. This perspective paper will attempt to do three things: give a rundown of the state of the art in healthcare IoT, describe how IoT devices are enhancing the delivery of health services, and talk about the potential effects of IoT technology on healthcare around the world in the next ten years. Examining how the internet of Things (IoT) could change healthcare by making public health preventive services more accessible and by making our existing secondary and tertiary health care systems more efficient and cohesive. This paper will go over some of the problems with healthcare that is based on the internet of things (IoT), including problems with market acceptance by healthcare providers and patients, problems with privacy and security, problems with interoperability and standardization, problems with compensation and data storage, problems with control and ownership, and problems with privacy and security. The use of IoT in health maintenance is being propelled by a number of important reasons, including open regulations inside healthcare companies, thorough strategic planning, cyber security-focused standards, and policy support. Healthcare that makes use of the internet of Things has the potential to boost community health and system efficiency. ©

An important requirement in implementing distributed computing and sensing application is the synchronization of clocks at various locations. The internet relies on the Network Time Protocol (NTP), which synchronizes clocks with accuracy in the order of milliseconds. More recently an ensemble of atomic clocks is used for navigation based on GPS. These clocks are highly accurate and provide time with very low uncertainty. Even so, many physics experiments such as distributed LIGO-based systems may require more accurate clock synchronization that is achievable using quantum entanglement. This requires the deployment of a network of quantum clocks synchronized by exploiting entangled atomic clock qubits. In this paper, we carry out a simulation study of synchronizing a network of quantum clocks interconnected by a fiber plant that supports the ESnet;the latter is used to support the classical communication needed for teleportation. We consider an existing protocol for synchro-nizing the atomic clock qubits that relies on the GHZ states. To assess the performance of the protocol we developed a discrete-event simulation of the network using IBM Qiskit framework for underlying quantum gate operations and measurements. The simulation results shed light on the resources required in terms of the number entangled qubits and the time needed to achieve the synchronization of different number of nodes in ESnet. © 2024 IEEE.

The World Health Organization (WHO) began warning of a possible upcoming epidemic called monkeypox, while humanity is still suffering from the consequences of the latest epidemic. In addition to various health issues caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, an "infodemic" accompanied the virus that led to the spread of many fake news about the virus and possible medication treatments. This fake news led to the emergence of huge mass panic causing stress and anxiety and might lead to death. This paper proposes an intelligent Chatbot called WAEI (Arabic term means awareness in English) to increase the awareness of pandemic risks, methods of prevention, and precautionary measures. WAEI fight the infodemic by producing responses based on its knowledgebase that was formed from credible sources, namely the WHO. The Chatbot uses Natural Language Understanding (NLU) to infer its responses. 308 volunteers evaluated the proposed chatbot. The volunteers’ responses were statistically analyzed to measure whether the Chatbot is resourceful, coherent, and achieves user satisfaction. Precision, recall and F1 metrics shows improvement in accuracy, which reach 83% accuracy in responding to users’ inquiry. WAEI is of great value and has been proposed at the right time for the health sectors as it gives a good experience in using technology and smart systems to quickly handle infodemic effectively by providing necessary awareness for any potential foreseen diseases. © 2024 IEEE.

Weather information is essential because the weather dramatically affects human activity. Weather conditions can change at any time, which, of course, can disrupt community activities. Weather information is needed by people for different purposes, such as management of agriculture, plantations, transportation, and building construction. Weather information services can be accessed from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) website, which widely provides weather forecasts for major cities. However, BMKG information could be more specific and easier to access in certain areas. This study aims to monitor weather conditions on smartphones through the Blynk application. The monitored weather conditions include parameters of temperature, humidity, wind speed, and rain conditions, which are processed by the ESP 8266 microcontroller. The output of the detection of weather parameters on the ESP 8266 is sent to the Blynk application by utilizing an internet connection. The test results show that the average weather conditions produced a temperature of 27.4°C, humidity of 85%, and wind speed of 5.1 km/hour with relatively no rain weather conditions. © 2023 IEEE.

The integration of electric vehicles (EVs) into urban mobility systems promises significant environmental and energy benefits, but the expansion of a robust and accessible charging infrastructure remains a critical challenge. This research explores the innovative concept of Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging, facilitated by internet of Things (IoT) technology, as a solution to enhance the flexibility, efficiency, and scalability of EV charging networks. By transforming every EV into a potential mobile charging unit, V2V IoT chargers can dynamically balance energy demand and supply, alleviating the limitations of traditional stationary charging stations. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the technical underpinnings, operational dynamics, and potential impacts of V2V IoT chargers on sustainable transportation. We introduce the Vehicle-to-Vehicle Charge Sharing Network (V2V CSN), a novel framework designed to leverage the unused battery capacity of EVs for energy sharing. Through a simulation study using a Java-based tool, we evaluate the feasibility and benefits of the V2V CSN, demonstrating its potential to reduce infrastructure costs and alleviate range anxiety among EV *** components of V2V technology, such as advanced matching algorithms for energy transfer, the use of DC-DC power converters, and IoT-enabled communication protocols, are examined in detail. The results indicate that V2V charging can significantly reduce peak demand on the electrical grid, enhance energy efficiency, and provide a resilient and adaptive charging solution. Our findings suggest that V2V IoT chargers could play a pivotal role in the future of urban mobility, offering a scalable and flexible approach to EV charging. Future research should focus on real-world implementation and the development of advanced control algorithms to further enhance the effectiveness and reliability of this technology. © 2024 IEEE.

The fast growth of internet of Things systems has transformed the way policy decisions are made based on the data produced by these devices. These data are prone to errors and anomalies and can present privacy and security issues which can affect policy decisions. Therefore, it is necessary that, at each layer of internet of Things architecture, the data undergo a process to ensure its quality. This paper presents a framework for building a trust management system for internet of Things devices using anomaly detection in different layers of IoT architecture and formulation of a reputation index.

The ability of IoT devices to sense and share various physical parameters plays a key role in a smart system. Along side benefits, it also bears the potential to cause a breach of privacy for the users of the smart-systems. Existing solutions for privacy-preserving computation for distributed systems either extensively use highly complex cryptographic techniques or exploit an extremely high degree of message passing among the devices through secure channels. However, for the resource-constrained IoT devices, which compose a significant fraction of the smart-systems, the existing solutions for privacy-preserving computation strategies does not fulfill the current requirements. To address this issue, in this work, we propose a novel real-time lightweight strategy LiPI for Privacy-Preserving Data Aggregation in low-power IoT systems. LiPI uses lightweight distributed and collaborative data obfuscation, which substantially minimizes the computation requirements. In addition, it exploits the recent advances in Synchronous-Transmission (st)-based protocols to efficiently fulfill the communication requirements too, making it efficient to work in real-time. Furthermore, LiPI also avoids dependency on any trusted third party. Extensive evaluation based on comprehensive experiments in both simulation platforms and publicly available WSN/IoT testbeds demonstrates that our strategy achieves the goal at least 51.7% faster and consumes 50.5% lesser energy compared to the existing state-of-the-art strategies.
