With the rapid advancement of internet of Things (IoT) technology, the significance of embedded systems has grown exponentially across various fields. This research focuses on addressing the critical issue of task scheduling optimization in IoT embedded systems by introducing an innovative solution based on the Improved Rate Monotonic Scheduling (RMS) algorithm. This improved algorithm plays a pivotal role in enhancing task efficiency and resource utilization in dynamic IoT environments, where the system's workload and priorities are constantly changing. Through extensive testing and evaluation, our proposed solution has demonstrated its superiority over the traditional RMS algorithm. Specifically, the results reveal a remarkable 25% reduction in task response time, showcasing the substantial improvement in system responsiveness. Additionally, there is a notable 30% increase in CPU utilization, which highlights the enhanced utilization of available computing resources. These outcomes collectively underscore the increased reliability and stability of IoT embedded systems achieved through our research. © 2023 IEEE.

During the global pandemic, the phenomenon of digital transformation has turned into a necessity for organizations to facilitate either service delivery or operational efficiency. A big part of this attempt is ITIL v4, which is a holistic framework in IT service management. It helps you to link IT methodologies with business objectives as a whole. This allows them to follow an end-to-end service value framework to manage the full life cycle of services: strategy, design, deployment, and continual improvement. This framework is flexible and collaborative, and it fits well into more advanced technology, which may be utilized within the boundaries of automation, AI, etc., making modern service management possible. How is ITIL4 inspired by the Lean principles and brings an Agile/DevOps way of working into alignment to follow within enterprises to address the speed at which digital transformation happens? This integration will bake these practices into your stock ITSM. Organizations will be much better placed to adapt to new customer demands, speed up service delivery, and improve continuously. The Advanced Encryption standard (AES) is generally regarded as one of the most popular cryptographic algorithms for ensuring data security. Typical lightweight implementations of the algorithm published in the literature focus on area and power optimization, while neglecting the performance. This paper presents a novel lightweight approach for the AES algorithm and considers both encryption and decryption. In terms of performance per unit area and performance per unit power, our 32-bit design outperforms the state-of-the-art by 1.69x and 1.27x, respectively. These improvements become even larger when implementing higher data-path designs, such as 64bit or 128-bit designs. To enhance its resilience against side-channel attacks, we modified our design by adopting and further improving on the most recent countermeasure, i.e., Domain-Oriented Masking (DOM). The results demonstrate that our five-stage and eight-stage 1st-order DOM SBOX designs achieve a reduction in area of 9.9% and 6.9% compared to the original proposed design, respectively.

In this research, the proposed system HealthEdge, a new IoT-based intelligent health monitoring framework based on edge computing and a diverse sensor array that includes breathing frequency (RR), pulse rate (PR), oxygen saturation level in blood (SpO2), galvanic skin response (GSR), body temperature and hemoencephalography as vital signs sensors, as well as a formaldehyde sensor to gauge environmental influence on health. HealthEdge utilizes a powerful Deep Convolutional Neural Network (DCNN) to perform and analyze the data in real-time at the edge, ensuring ultra-low latency and amplified privacy. The model is capable of identifying health anomalies with a high accuracy of 97% which is demonstrating its potential in real-time health observation and anomaly detection. The potential role of environmental quality measurements in particular formaldehyde levels, in imposing on health conditions, thereby spreading the purview of the monitoring system beyond the traditional set of parameters have been explored. The integration of edge computing not only addresses the challenges that conventional systems face in maintaining a balance between privacy concerns and processing speed, it is also a state-of-the-art technology which enables HealthEdge to become the new norm for complete and real-time health monitoring solutions. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper studies the application of edge computing and cloud-edge collaboration technology in power scenarios. Based on the existing resource-aware access technology, the technology and application research are carried out from the application architecture, access model, edge computing carrier, cloud-edge collaboration implementation, etc. This paper discusses in detail the technology of power resource-aware access and intelligent gateway for edge computing from three aspects: edge computing-oriented power resource-aware access, edge intelligent gateway design and cloud-side collaborative service. This study proposes a new cloud power resource aware access service system composed of industrial field layer, edge node layer and cloud platform layer, designs the access model of power resources for edge computing, designs an intelligent gateway with edge computing capability, and analyzes the important role and advantages of edge computing-oriented power resource aware access. © 2023 IEEE.

Hospital noise is a critical issue affecting patient well-being and healthcare outcomes. In this paper, we propose an innovative system for hospital noise detection and segregation leveraging internet of Things (IoT) technology, Mel-frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCC), and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN). Our approach involves deploying IoT devices equipped with microphones in hospital environments to continuously capture audio data. Pre-processing techniques are applied to the collected audio sam ples to remove noise and normalize signals. MFCC features are then extracted from the pre-processed data to capture unique sound characteristics. These features serve as inputs to a supervised ANN model trained to classify noise into hospital and non-hospital categories. The performance of the model is evalu ated using a validation dataset, and upon achieving satisfactory results, the model is deployed in the IoT infrastructure for real-time noise analysis. Con tinuous monitor- ing and periodic fine-tuning ensure adaptability to evolving noise patterns. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose EdgeHD, a hierarchy-aware learning solution that performs online training and inference in a highly distributed, cost-effective way. We use brain-inspired hyperdimensional (HD) computing as the key enabler. HD computing performs the computation tasks on a high-dimensional space to emulate functionalities of the human memory, such as inter-data relationship reasoning and information aggregation. EdgeHD exploits HD computing to effectively learn the classification models on individual devices and combine the models through the hierarchical IoT nodes without high communication costs. We also propose a hardware design that accelerates EdgeHD on low-power FPGA platforms. We evaluated EdgeHD for a wide range of real-world classification applications. The evaluation shows that EdgeHD provides highly efficient computation with reduced communication. For example, EdgeHD achieves on average 3.4x and 11.7x (1.9x and 7.8x) speedup and energy efficiency improvement during the training (inference) as compared to the centralized learning approach. It reduces the communication costs by 85% for the training and 78% for the inference.

Federated Learning (FL) has emerged as an efficient technique to train machine learning (ML) models across decentralized devices without sharing any raw data for preserving privacy. However, it faces challenges in communication overhead and resource constraints, particularly in real-time applications of internet of Things (IoT). To address these challenges, we propose a novel method called Hashcash and Jaya-based communication efficient Federated Learning (HJCFL). It consists of three main phases: local aggregator selection, clustering of IoT devices and communication efficient FL process. It uses Hashcash for strategically selecting local aggregators and Jaya based algorithm for clustering IoT devices. The usage of Hashcash function has an added advantage over existing aggregator selection techniques because of it's simplicity, proof-of-work and adjustable difficulty level. To the best of our knowledge, none of the existing techniques uses Hashcash for the same. Moreover, unlike most of the existing schemes, the proposed method utilizes all the available devices and therefore it converges faster with significantly less number of global rounds than others. Through extensive simulations, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed HJCFL as compared to two baseline techniques. The result's validity is further confirmed using a widely recognized statistical technique, i.e., analysis of variance (ANOVA), followed by a least significant difference (LSD) post-hoc analysis.

In contemporary society, individuals struggling with paralysis confront a myriad of social and health challenges, transcending mere physical incapacitation. This paper presents a novel exploration into the complex interplay between physical disabilities and depression relapse detection specifically tailored for quadriplegic patients, a domain yet unexplored in literature. Recognizing the intrinsic fusion of mental and physical health in this population, our research endeavors to forge a comprehensive understanding of depression relapse detection amidst the unique context of quadriplegia. Central to our approach is the integration of clinical and non-clinical datasets, prominently featuring Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals, alongside patient-reported outcomes and behavioral markers. Leveraging advanced artificial intelligence techniques, we seek to recognize nuanced indicators of depression relapse while meticulously accounting for the influence of physical disability. This pioneering effort not only sheds light on the bidirectional relationship between physical impairment and mental health outcomes but also paves the way for tailored interventions and support strategies aimed at improving the well-being of quadriplegic individuals. Through a series of diverse experiments, the presented approach attains an accuracy of 98% in assessing the mental health of these patients. Notably, logistic regression stands out as the most effective classification, showcasing the adaptability of various methodologies in distinct contexts. By introducing EEG-based depression relapse detection in this specific demographic, this paper addresses a critical gap in existing literature and offers transformative insights for clinical practice and patient care. © 2024 IEEE.

In Digital transformation era, the expected trends in the technology put forward to the rise of internet of Things. In day-to-day life most of the IoT devices are compromised with attacks so it is apparent to discuss the security issues with its counter measures. This paper elucidates the classification of various attacks occurs and ensuring the security to find the most prominent attacks.
