The SMIL specification, which was recently approved by the W3C, is meant to help deliver multimedia contents to the Web. It is widely used these days and there has been continuously emerging tools and software related to it. In this paper, we propose a system to interchange from temporal scripts of RASP, an experimental toolkit for computer animation that promotes interaction-based programming over time, to a SMIL document. The main contribution of this paper is that it verifies the sequence diagram generated for synchronization of SMIL documents by reconverting SMIL from UML sequence diagram. UML sequence diagram is useful to express various relations of dynamic animation components between RASP tool kits and SMIL document

The decoupling is one of the most important features of service components that make Web services successful in the future. Decoupling metrics can be used to measure and evaluate the decoupling attributes of a distributed service oriented software architecture that has very significant impacts on the understandability, maintainability, reliability, testability, and reusability of software components. The decoupling metrics can also be used as a criterion for selection of existing service components for compositions. Many measurement metrics for decoupling have been proposed, however most measures are not specific for service component decoupling. This paper provides a practical guide for evaluating decoupling between service-oriented components in the service composition such as business process execution language (BEPL). Coupling was originally defined as the measure of the strength of association established by a connection from one module to another. Most of the existing techniques and measuring coupling metrics are classified by procedural programming and object-oriented programming. In this paper we propose a decoupling metrics based on the black-box parameters of service stateness (stateless/stateful), interaction (one-way, two-way), service interface required, service interface provided (supporting/supported interface), invocation modes (sync/async), self-containment (stand-alone/indirect dependent), implicit invocation (blocking/non-blocking), and binding modes (static/dynamic)

We propose an optimized implementation of the Fourier-Motzkin (FM) algorithm for computing all nonnegative, minimal-support invariants of ordinary Petri nets. The FM algorithm is optimized by detecting the parallel place sets created during each of its iteration, and retaining just one member of each set while deleting the rest. The intermediate invariants obtained are then used to generate all minimal-support invariants using an optimized invariant generation process. Experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm is at least 2.2X faster in execution and requires at least 1.8x less memory than other comparable algorithms

To continuously meet the changing needs of the customers, organisations follow their own enhancive maintenance process models. Unfortunately, these models are not easily available to the academic world. In this paper, we study enhancive maintenance in three organisations in Ghana. Our goal is to explore information about the initial phases of the enhancive maintenance process and put them into a process model. Our model makes provision for process phases, their activities, roles, and data needed for managing enhancements. Although the primary goal of this paper is to elicit an enhancive maintenance model, we do not deny that it also provides the information on the state of enhancive maintenance practice in one developing country - Ghana

Conveying information secretly and establishing hidden relationship has been of interest since long past. Text documents have been widely used since very long time ago. Therefore, we have witnessed different method of hiding information in texts (text steganography) since past to the present. In this paper we introduce a new approach for steganography in Persian and Arabic texts. Considering the existence of too many points in Persian and Arabic phrases, in this approach, by vertical displacement of the points, we hide information in the texts. This approach can be categorized under feature coding methods. This method can be used for Persian/Arabic watermarking. Our method has been implemented by Java programming language

The degree of correlation between the source codes of different software programs is important for uncovering plagiarism, trade secret theft, copyright infringement, and patent infringement. Other uses include locating open source code within a proprietary program and determining common authorship of different programs. Measurement of source code correlation is an important factor in any punitive determination of rights infringement. Existing measures of source code correlation tend to focus on only one or two types of correlation. This paper presents a theoretical basis for a measure of source code correlation predicated on various uses and requirements. The paper also describes a software tool that uses multiple algorithms to determine this correlation measure. At the conclusion the paper compares the results produced by this tool against results produced by other tools when examining a controlled set of correlated source code files and finds that the new tool is more accurate than other tools in determining all types of source code correlation

Model driven architecture (MDA) is a new development paradigm which generates software by transforming design models automatically and incrementally. Transformation of MDA structural models has been successfully applied in practice. However, transformation of dynamic models and pervasive services largely remains as an area for further research. Pervasive services are essential for building distributed enterprise systems. In this paper, we specify the functionalities of the pervasive services, which are essential parts in the development of enterprise architecture, and then those functionalities are defined by UML profile. By using of the profile, the platform specific model (PSM) for .NET/C# is specified, and code is generated through our software modeling tool. The source codes for .NET supporting the functionalities of pervasive services can be easily and automatically generated by using of the proposed methods in this paper

MPI (message passing interface) is the inter-node communication interface used in today PC clusters and other cluster-type parallel/distributed systems. Up-to-date the most popular analytical MPI performance model for parallel/distributed machines is the LogGP model, which is based on system hardware parameters. Recently, the improvements in connection network and communication protocols have lead to the dramatically changes in the contributions of hardware parameters to the model communication time. So LogGP model needs to be re-evaluated for its format and hardware parameters, to include the effect of message structures, which is in form of communication middleware overheads. In this paper, we use our experiment results to show that the current LogGP communication model is too limited for today parallel/distributed systems. We propose a modification by including into the model additional system parameters to represent middleware costs on non-contiguous data. We show in this paper our theoretical and experimental results for point-to-point communication, and explain how performance models for other communication patterns can be similarly created

Establishing hidden communication is an important subject of discussion that has gained increasing importance nowadays with the development of the Internet. One of the methods introduced for establishing hidden communication is steganography. Methods of steganography have been mostly applied on images while the major characteristic of these methods is the change in the structure and features of the images so as not to be identifiable by human users. However, on the other hand, many methods have been proposed for breaking and extracting information (steganalysis) for these methods. This paper presents a method for hiding information in images by changing the appearance of the picture instead of changing its features. In this method, images of a number of relevant objects are put on a scene together in a way that is not noticeable. Then, by changing the place and type of each object, information is hidden in the image because the place and type of each object indicates a special figure and, by putting the digits figures together, the information in question is hidden in the picture. Considering that in this method information has been hidden in the appearance of the picture, then by using the present methods of identification of stegano images one cannot identify the steganography images in this method or extract data from them. The proposed method has been implemented by using the Java programming language

This paper is a unique approach to customer and developer interaction and bringing in a more friendly way of communication between them to gather the requirements more efficiently. This way benefits like requirement analysis, scope of the project, objective of the project and detection of errors in the project offering the greatest potential for improving requirements quality and avoiding cost overruns in the development of software systems, both for the customer(s) and the developers. We have proposed a number of extra features for the traditional FAst (facilitated application specification techniques), providing more benefits to both the parties than it is doing now. In our approach we have defined what the facilitator (the one who is responsible for conducting meetings between the two parties i.e. the customer and the developer) should really do and specifically who should it be, more over certain terms that can come in front in FAst meetings are looked upon and that how can one be careful about them, keeping things straight and simple between both the parties. Moreover verification and validation is provided in all the early stages of the software development, being discussed in every FAst meeting and monitored by the facilitator. This paper basically shows way of improving the software quality right from the beginning of the project to the end product
