Before evolution of network coding, communication in multidimensional networks nominates store-and-forward approach. This approach limits information to process in an in-network manner. Furthermore, this traditional approach was unable to find efficient paths and became a bottleneck for several applications. Network coding was introduced as a remedy and offered a new way to transmit information over acyclic and cyclic networks. In this paper, we identified potential areas of network coding application in parallel architecture and specify the relevant facts and results. To diminish the issues of complexity, we have implemented Linear Network coding (LNC) on 2D-Mesh as a parallel network. For verification of our approach, we have considered some 2D-Mesh architectures for implementing network coding approach, and we have examined our results on this network. We have developed a Parallel network coding approach, which reduces/removes information size and communication complexity exponentially with code length.

Developing Web-aware systems is one of the greatest challenges in the software industry today. Ideally, Web-aware systems should run on any machine connected to the Internet and should be accessed from any Web browser. However, this ideal cannot be achieved with present Web technology, characterised by static client-server models and stateless communication protocols. The paper describes the GoWeb system, an active framework for Web-aware applications that aims to overcome these difficulties. It is based on a thin-client/fat server principle and uses object-based distributed techniques and the Java programming language. © 2000 IEEE.

This paper presents a novel single pass block classification algorithm for efficient coding of computer screen images which consists of multimedia elements like text, graphics and natural images. The objective is to minimize the loss of visual quality of text during compression by separating text information which needs high special resolution than the pictures and background. It segments computer screen images into text/graphics and picture/background classes, which consider distribution patterns of DCT coefficients in each 8x8 block, and then compresses the text/graphics pixels with lossless Huffman algorithm and the picture/background pixels with the lossy JPEG. DCT based segmentation approach of our algorithm leads to simple and fast classification and suite for JPEG compression of picture/background blocks. Experimental results show that the proposed method improves the PSNR value significantly than standard JPEG, JPEG-2000 and DjVu while keeping competitive compression ratios. Copyright 2009 ACM.

Hearing aids are the most commonly used devices for hearing impairment. It has been proven to be effective in helping patients hear better, especially in a quiet and controlled environment. However, while hearing aids help amplify sounds, it does not consider noise;thus it can worsen hearing impairment in the long run. To address this issue, a system capable of filtering sounds in real-time using Redundant Convolutional Encoder-Decoder (R-CED) is developed. R-CED is implemented by extracting redundant representations of noise at the encoder and produces speech as an output. The results of the experiments have shown the accuracy of the proposed system as it was tested in noisy environments. Furthermore, it has been proven that there is no significant difference between the system prototype and noise-canceling microphone.

As smart cities are being developed, innovations to the waste management are one of the focus areas of research. Various efforts are done to make the process seamless on the side of the consumer. In this research, the proponents focus on the development of a smart e-waste bin that can identify the type of e-waste deposited and reward users for their deposit. The system makes used of You Only Look Once v4 (YOLOv4) in identifying types of e-waste. In testing the device, various tests are performed and the precision, recall, and accuracy are all evaluated. In this research, the developed system can successfully identify the type of e-waste deposited with an average accuracy of 93.33%.

In this paper, a method for implementation of the DC-balanced 8B/10B coding used in Superspeed USB with employ a very fast FPGA from Altra family is proposed. This technique can be used by other highspeed serial buses such as PCI Express, IEEE 1394b, Serial ATA, SAS, Fiber Channel, SSA, Gigabit Ethernet, InfiniBand, XAUI, Serial RapidIO, DVI and HDMI (Transition Minimized Differential Signaling) that use the same coding. Using the look-up table and memory with fast technique made this design efficient to be implemented. Moreover, the proposed method has very low complexity and fast to execute with minimum logic and also easy to implement. © 2010 IEEE.

This is a comparative study to explore the performance of three lossless compression techniques, namely Run Length Encoding (RLE), Shannon-Fano coding (SFC), and Huffman coding (HC) in the context of a Hybrid M-Ary in Braided Single stage (HMBSS) protocol communication scheme. The previous study on HMBSS using HC found that HC's compression technique has drawbacks, i.e., it is sensitive to errors and noise in the transmission channel and limited to certain data types. These drawbacks did affect the value of the compression rate limit. In this study, we evaluate the effectiveness of RLE, SFC, and HC in terms of data size reduction, coding efficiency, and data transmission time by comparing their results arising from the simulation experiments using Python coding in Jupiter Notebook and developed based on the HMBSS protocol algorithm. This simulation experiment starts with an initial six randomly generated datasets. Each dataset is tested using three compression techniques, which resulted in 18 different datasets. The results from the experiments reveal that SFC and HC consistently achieved a higher compression ratio and coding efficiency than RLE. These two compression techniques' algorithms effectively reduce the data size while preserving the original information. In our study, we also find that the data transmission time is increased with larger text sizes for all three compression techniques. This indicates that the larger the data size, the more transmission time is required with regard to what the compression technique's algorithm is. © 2024 IEEE.

Many of the applications that are used in the handheld devices are multimedia processing. Multimedia processing will consume huge power due to its computations, as a result battery gets drained quickly. Multimedia applications are error tolerant applications, as human eye can not able to recognize the error present in the multimedia content. Approximate computing is one of the alternative to enhance the battery life. Hadamard transform is used in image coding, CDMA and MPEG, etc,. applications. This paper proposes an approximate hardware architecture for computing discrete Hadamard transform. The proposed approximate Hadamard transform architecture consumes 33% and 31 % lesser area, 22% and 14% lesser delay, power reduces by 36% and 39% compared to the existing exact 16-point and 4-point Hadamard transform. The PSNR values of 4-bit LSB approximate 16-point and 4-point Hadamard transform's output image is 36.30 and 36.32 respectively. © 2019 IEEE.

In this paper we consider the issue of Distributed Video coding (DVC) over practical channel which involves Gaussian noisy channel. Since the research on DVC over practical channel with respect to modulation is still incomplete this paper does a comprehensive study on DVC modulation techniques to fill the gap. It discusses the suitability of M-Ary modulation to DVC on the basis of energy consumption. Transliteration of words across different scripts carries importance for both social media platforms and messaging apps. It preserves the phonetic meaning of words across various writing systems. This study evaluates the influence of contextual information within words on the transliteration of Bengali and English language pair. It utilizes the Dakshina and NEWS 2018 datasets and binary encoding for feature representation. With the random forest classifier, the results demonstrate that using neighboring transliteration units as context yields the best performance on both datasets, obtaining the highest accuracy of 81.04%. These findings highlight the vital role of contextual information within words in enhancing the performance of transliteration. © 2023 IEEE.
